  1. Would love to try an ACG someday, looks great! Good luck with the sale 😊
  2. Busy weekend with the Phil Collins tribute act NO JACKET REQUIRED. Fab gig Friday at Dorking halls where I used’the beast’, my faithful old wal and tonight’s ( ok last night 🤣) gig at the Hazlett theatre in Maidstone. Decided to use the ken smith for a change, such a comfortable bass to play and sounded great! Audiences at both shows were very receptive and really got into it!! All in all a very enjoyable couple of shows and a pleasure to play with such a nice bunch of people 😊.
  3. I know what you mean about it maybe not being worth that because of the mod, but I guess a lot of people would argue that about the second hand prices SOME people are asking for theirs anyway? One thing for sure though, a passive wal still sounds like a wal, my pro II is probably my favourite, and I have a few. Certainly don’t think one loses much with a passive wal in my humble opinion x
  4. I always had to work even when I was in a band years ago trying to ‘make it’Itwas a real struggle back then but when you’re young and hungry you can burn the candle at both ends! Obviously didn’t work for me of course 🤣 but it was bloody hard going and I don’t think it was ‘easier’ back then by any stretch. Not all of ‘em of course, but an awful lot of musicians that seem to make it do come from very comfortable backgrounds, but they don’t like advertising the fact. You can’t deny some of their talent, but being able to doss about and devote time to nurturing that talent without having to graft ya balls off all hours god made does help quite a lot. Having money in the family or well off parents that are willing to finance you and having no pressure to earn x amount every week must be very liberating. Definitely just as hard back then in my humble opinion.
  5. Always thought bergantino were missing a trick by not putting tilt back casters on their 2x12 cabs and maybe a pull up handle on the 2x10 with casters. hope you get it sorted.😊x
  6. Very sad to hear, never owned a JD but definitely on the radar. my sincere condolences to the family. RIP JOHN X
  7. I certainly have a love/hate relationship with Alembics. Wonderful craftsmanship there is no doubt but the mark king model I had sounded great but wasn’t very stable neck wise and seemed such a reach even to the third fret it used to kill my neck and shoulder. The Stanley Clarke I had, on the other hand , I’ve always said was the most comfortable bass to play I’ve ever had but try as I might i just couldn’t get a sound I liked out of it. Maybe it was just me but for all the filters and Q switches, for all the sounds they produce I found most of them just not ‘useable’ in real gigging/playing situations .Drove me crazy 🤣. I now have a distillate which seems to give me the best of both worlds.very comfortable with the 32’ neck (though it still feels much like a 34scale does on other makes) and much simpler to dial in a good sound (for me) without much fuss.
  8. second hand genz streamliner 900 and a SH barefaced BB2 if you can find one. Job done x
  9. Thanks very much, personally i think you’ll be better off sticking to a MK 3, I’ve never played one but they are slightly smaller body wise I believe and lighter.I’m lucky enough to have another mk2 that is quite a bit lighter than the pictured one and whilst it’s a beautiful bass of course I’m not quite sure its got the ‘authority’ to it as the above beaut for want of a better word? Maybe it is just the sheer weight of the thing that projects that across?? If you’re anywhere near Horsham West Sussex and you wanna have try before you decide please feel free to contact me. 😊
  10. Amazing how quickly the time flies round every year, so again last night was the first of a double header we always do with the Phil Collins tribute ‘NO JACKET REQUIRED’ at a place called TRADING BOUNDARIES in Sussex just before Christmas. Very nice venue, punters have a sit down meal then we come on afterwards and do two sets.Always sells out for us and a very receptive audience albeit generally older (like us🤣) Decided to use my Wal Mach ll that I’ve had since new, brought from Wapping years ago. She’s a boat anchor for sure but THAT SOUND!! creamy, fat, and the ‘weight’ behind every note you play, and using a wide strap I find it absolutely fine really. So, yes a great gig and a luxury to be able to leave all the back line/drums etc set up for tonight’s show,(certainly don’t leave my basses there) too. Looking forward to more of the same tonight, hopefully!! Merry Crimbo everyone and my best wishes, Jeff x
  11. Long shot but if you find yourself down in Sussex don’t hesitate to let me know and you can borrow one of mine. Sorry to hear about things and good luck sir x
  12. There’s a 600 in the classified for 220 quid, a steal for that price, and no I do not have anything to do with the seller. Just saying….x
  13. Genz Benz streamliner , think there’s one in the classified. Very nice amps and you can pick them up quite reasonably nowadays . 😊
  14. Hi folks, pretty much as new condition, with roqsolid cover. No postage but could deliver within reason but would prefer a bass chum to trial first to make sure they were happy etc. Great cab but my super midget is mostly sufficient for me these days.kettles always on ! Thanks for looking.x😊
  15. I was quite happy with one bass and amp for 25 years until I joined basschat…..🤣x
  16. I a/b’d the lfsys cabs against my bb2 barefaced at the recent south east bass bash going through my puma 900 which I pretty much always leave set flat. They sounded clearer and more balanced to me.As much I I love the bb2, I preferred the lfsys cabs , especially taken by the little 10” bugger.obviously it wasn’t a gig situation but as Chris mentioned, too much bottom end doesn’t usually translate to a successful overall sound. They had the low end, it was just nice, tight and controlled.
  17. Few more pics seeing as the sun’s come out!
  18. Quite rare these days, much more aesthetically pleasing than the stingray 5’s in my humble opinion, smaller body,’sleeker’ for want of a better word. Very very good condition,no dings I can see on body. I haven’t really used it much as I have so many other basses, hence reason for selling. Collection only , or possibly meet up somewhere within reason. Any trial most welcome.I don’t sell many of my herd but think this is too good to just be sitting there and needs to give someone else pleasure. Comes with musicman hard case but no tools. Will try to post some decent photos up soon. Thanks for looking x
  19. Looks like a great day, well done for organising it, I’ll take the ole MC924 please, lovely machine x
  20. Least you caught my good side stevie 🤣.Thanks again for letting us try out the cabs, very impressed when A/B’d against my barefaced I must say. So are you planning a 2x10?? Now that WOULD be a thing! best regards, jeff
  21. That’s brilliant Colin, thank you so much for all your hard work in organising a lovely event and the donations to very worthy causes. Really enjoyed it. jeff
  22. If you have access to a 3d printer, my young stepson made me these, stuck on with double sided tape so easily removable .Think they look better than ramps personally
