  1. Just received a bass from Paul, everything went great, really well packaged and seems like a lovely bloke..thanks, jeff
  2. I’m lucky enough to have snared it.sorry for anyones disappointment.my gear abstinence resolution has crumbledwithin a day 🤣😩
  3. Maybe I’m old fashioned, I don’t know but I find them all so bland, still think the musician and the roadster series’s with the 2x2 headstock’s were beautifully styled, amazing build quality and most importantly sounded and still sound brilliant to this day.I’m sure there would be a market for a re issue of some sort. The modern range is almost too much imo
  4. Personally I find being passive is in no way a disadvantage on a Wal. i have the same model as above and an early pro II. They have’ that sound’ in spades and are the ones I tend to gravitate towards. I really hope you enjoy your new acquisition , good on ya ! x
  5. Defo with you on this! Just picked up a musicman USA Sterling on here.lovely small body and narrow neck, the thing feels like a toy ! Really digging it at the moment 😊
  6. I’d say a very good price for a smithy thru neck! Good luck with things 😊
  7. Very best wishes to your friend, how life can change or even end in an instant. makes one think . X
  8. I hasten to add i went 20 years with only two basses and was quite happy and content….. then I discovered basschat 😂x
  9. Thanks for an interesting thread, I’d say anyone who is lucky enough to own a Wal bass that was brought anywhere from years ago up until fairly recently are sitting on probably one of the best investments bass wise.Guess people can never know how much something will rise in value until later.Hindsight is a wonderful thing!! I generally try to only buy a bass that I THINK will go up in value ,because as someone pointed out it’s a privilege and pleasure to play and enjoy being the temporary custodians first and foremost.Anything else is a bonus isn’t it? certainly wish I’d never have sold my first house and had taken the risk to try to invest more in property.🤣x
  10. Funny you reference a Wal because I’ve always thought I can get my mc924 to sound very similar to one and after playing a Wal the Ibanez feels almost like a medium scale, the reach seems so much less. wonderful wonderful basses as someone else has pointed out definitely the‘golden era’ for ibby basses in my humble opinion.mines going to the grave with me I think. good luck with the sale 😊
  11. My very first decent bass I brought years ago from rock bottom In Croydon.certainly brings back memories.cracking basses.enjoy 😁
  12. I’d say a genz benz streamliner 900 has a fair amount of heft for a lightweight job , with a barefaced big twin cab
  13. Paul Herman uses them on all new Wals unless someone specifically asks for different.when they’re good enough for him then its good enough for me!!
  14. Hi, apologies if someone else has already asked but any experiences /feedback would be appreciated please? Build quality/real world volume etc.I’ve been using a Tecamp puma 900 for the last 5 years which is an amazing little thing I have to say, just intrigued about these British built amps. Thanks in advance folks x
  15. The thing is ,when you have a privileged background and money in the family it enables you to be able to spend your time developing your creativity and talent (if you have any) because you don’t need to earn with a ‘normal job’ to survive. They’ve always got that ‘cushion’ of an advance from the family. Most of us are too busy trying to keep a roof over our heads, mortgages etc to be able to doss around like that.Being from money opens a lot of doors and I think it’ll always be that way.
  16. Wonderful little amps! Mines been my main gigging unit for a good 5 years plus.Never let me down 😊.GLWTS
  17. Sorry to hear of all your troubles 😕.I have to say I sent a very expensive bass to Corsica by fedex just after Christmas. As you can imagine I was VERY nervous about the whole thing but it got there ahead of schedule in 3days undamaged and everything went very smoothly though I did make sure it was bloody well packed/protected.Maybe I was just lucky? Relieved though!!
  18. Wonderful,different rare, sexy and and....just because 🥰x
  19. Great stuff, really enjoyed that,a beautiful merger of two wonderful pieces.well done x
  20. Certainly off on a tangent this one! Crunchies (Marley)tiles as we call them in the trade are considered low risk .personally I never screed over them as 9/10 times they come up pretty easily with a large scraper, and therefore can compromise the strength/bonding of the new subfloor surface if just gone over.wear a decent mask obviously, double bag then seal with tape.some local tips take them, some don’t,best to check in advance.99% of us in the trade use Ardex NA two component latex when faced with having to cover old bitumen adhesive residue as it’s a very good tried and tested product..Never use a water based latex, even with a primer! Then once your nice new solid/stable floor has been laid you can sit down in confidence and play your nice 5string to your hearts content!😁
  21. I posted my recent experience on another thread but in case anyone missed it. posted a bass to Corsica (France) couple of weeks ago.Absolutely first class service by fedex (£130)express delivery, insurance by secusus but luckily no problems.Bass was just under 5 grand.Buyer had to pay french import tax plus handling charges which added up to €1375 before the bass left this country.so I would presume it would roughly be the same the other way round for anyone receiving from the EU now
  22. I hasten to add I’m interested in the 2015 onwards reissue models, not the old original ones.cheers
  23. Hi all ! I’ve delevoped an itch for one of these ,but have never tried one .My main concern however is can they do anything other than that boomy mushy neck pick up sound which they are mainly known for??pretty much always use the bridge pickup on all my basses as I prefer punchy fingerstyle type growl, not too harsh top end.whats the output like of the bridge pickup on these,as I’d be using it 95% of the time.Or,am I in fact just barking up the wrong tree? I’m definitely not a flat wound string player. All the vids I’ve watched seem to be doing the boomy type vibe? Also do they make a 34 scale.Im after advice on USA made models only please. Thanks for your help/time in advance..cheers jeff
