  1. But remember that if you were in his position you would no longer be interested in 4s 😊
  2. Also consider this. I know I'm going against the general "keep it" grain here but a bass like that should be in the hands of someone who will use it. There'll be no shortage of takers and you'll forget about it quicker than you think. From an investment point of view it's already worth more than you paid for it so...
  3. I believe there's "magic" in any bass from ANY era if the user believes there is rather than any intrinsic magic. It's all wood, magnets and screws with some strings attached ultimately.
  4. This is why I think you need to say goodbye to it personally. Once I made the physical and mental switch to 5s all my 4s had to go but that's just me.
  5. Ah cool. Keeps things interesting if nothing else. Yes great guys in there but the shown stock isn't a true reflection. There's a bass I sold there on commission recently that's still not marked as sold yet either 😅 Enjoy the Elrick. You in a way echoed my sentiments about the Bart pickups.
  6. Ah you bought it then in the end? You happy with the light weight? They haven't as yet marked it as sold 😊
  7. Then by this parameter I guess I hate the sound of the high C string. How that belongs on an instrument known for providing low end is beyond me.
  8. That's hilarious 😂 It's not my area to convince you otherwise so of course just play what makes you happy 👍
  9. That's a very strong word to describe one extra string 😁 I hope you've never been in a situation where you've been forced to play one or even lost work because you refused. Funnily enough when I started playing I didn't understand the G string,I was like "how is this even bass?" This is probably why even though I can, I don’t play 6 string bass.
  10. Pickup pole pieces that don't line up with the associated string.
  11. So all of us basically 🤭
  12. Been playing bass since 2008 so not sure if I'm qualified to be called a musician yet 😅
  13. How long have you been playing bass? Again I'm just curious as there's no right or wrong answer. I've seen a few raised eyebrows whenever it's mentioned I've never used one
  14. I'll tag along along for the ride in the hope I might learn something. I've also never used compression. Why do you feel you need one of curiosity?
  15. In my experience it's a bass issue rather than a string choice one. I exclusively use a 120 B string with no issues whatsoever.
  16. Hate to say but I've done this and noticed no real difference if any.
  17. Does it have to be a Fender? Their 5 strings are generally nothing great and don't offer the full 19mm bridge string spacing you're after. I happen to own a variation that offers that spacing however, the Player Plus Jazz V. I would think about Laklands as suggested by @chris_b but you're after a Jazz so that would mean a Darryl Jones 5 or a 55-60. Fenders are hit and miss so try before buying is the best option if you're able to. This is all in my experience.
  18. I quoted your assertions not your prejudices.
  19. Jazz also as per Herbie Mann and Bobbie Humphrey.
  20. You forgot to say this is in your opinion. Fixed it for you.
  21. I was waiting for that comment with baited breath
