1.

we should make a club of "people who put computer parts on top of their bass amps"
2.
Its north of Watford!
doesn't mean they say oop!!!
3.
2. Location - not so many custom builders oop north.
it's sheffield not bloody newcastle mate!
4.
I did my first recording with my Ashbory a couple of days ago. I was going to use my NS upright, but my six year old was having so much fun with his lego train track all over the floor that I tried the Ashbory instead. I wasn't expecting it to come out very well as I haven't had the Ashbory long and the intonation can a bit fiddly as Alun says, but I was very pleased with how it came out the tone worked perfectly for the song. If this upload thing works here's how it sounds - This song is called "the Runner" and will probably be the last track on the new album by Obviously 5 Believers, This is a slightly rough mix that hasn't been mastered.
hmm well that made a bit of a change from hatebreed which i was listening to before my curiosity took over and made me listen to this. It's ok, not really my type of music tho (as you may have guessed). Oh and lego trains are huge fun
5.
HeHe... You need a big square left hand to play that! "Deficient in the string department to the tune of two..."
3 for me since it's not a fender. Thing is you don't exactly need to be john shuker (or similar) to build one. It's just a bit of wood with a couple of bits on it. Probably could do it yourself for £150-200
6. probably the simplest thing you could do is if you have a line in port on your computer (mini jack, usually blue on the back) if your amp has a preamp out or a direct line out (NOT THE SPEAKER OUTPUT) then you can get a converter cable and use that.
7.
My family, including brother, sister, mother, father, girlfriend and sister in law.
and you say the ladies don't love you!
8. If you'd chewed your arms off by 14 weeks then what's left of mr tinman?
9. I know what you mean about the websites, just had a look on a sheet music website and why is it that they have all the poppy crap like three days grace for bass (Not exactly difficult to work out anyway) but no the who? as far as i can see there are a few options 1. try looking on the publishers of sheet music websites eg hal leonard, they do a LOT of stuff 2. go to your local guitar shop and see if they have any who bass sheet music in stock 3. if those 2 don't work i'm afraid you might just have to use tabs, they're really not as bad as all you old people seem to think they are, infact they're a lot easier to work from then sheet music to be honest! here is a website you might find useful: http://www.halleonard.com/links_store.jsp there is a list of sites where you can buy sheet music. You might also want to try out GuitarPro, a bit of software which you can download music for and not only see the entire song on your computer (all the instruments) but also play along with it!
10.
http://www.asiandubfoundation.com/adf_home_fs.htm go to articles then Dr DAS on bass- good reading
we saw these guys at a music conference in london once. I guess he wasn't just having a bad joke when he said "who needs a G string anyway!?"
11. "looks more playable than most columbus guitars i've seen" twat. Lolz on the bass tho. Shame it's got no pickups.
12. I had the same feeling with the guitarrist in the band i recently quit, he's ok at playing, just terrible at learning new stuff. We would spend half the practice session just showing him how to play one part of a song (not even the full song) as a band i just think we were disorganized really. It really hit home when i realised we were playing as a support act to a band who've got 5x as many freinds as us (the vast majority of ours didn't even add us in the first place) have played 10x as many gigs as us (about 20) and are just much more respected despite being around for as long as we have, if that (about 8 months) really just because of the trouble any of us (not just him really but he's the worst) had learning new stuff. I think it's my fault really. We're both much happier now we've gone our seperate ways.
13.
that's what the wife sez
the wife would say that even if you had one bass and one of those cabs! Quite nice. It's a bit of a shame they dropped in such a short time really.
14.
Dont basses with necks this wide generally have two truss rods?
i would imagine the designer put one adjustable truss rod in and several fixed ones so that it were easier to adjust the neck symetrically. If only they had that for drums...
15. ^personally i'd go with the same tuning. I need the low B but anything lower than that (apart from A maybe) i don't.
16. to be honest i don't really like fretless electric basses. If i wanted a fretless bass i'd just use a double bass (which is what i do) rather amusingly i annoyed someone in the for sale thread as they'd recently spent a lot of time and effort de-fretting a bass only for me to say "i would have bought it if you hadn't done that!" of course as happy jack knows, i probably wouldn't have bought it anyway.
17. clean it, change strings and just leave it out of it's case for a while. Not much else you can do really. Also cleaning the case might help aswell.
18. I must say i do like his sig bass, i would defo get it over the mark hoppus anyday for a jazz body/p tone thing.
19. ^oh well i just said that 'cos it's similar to the bass used by the guy in GnR/velvet revolver
20. all i can say is welcome to the jungle.
21. haha they actually are slabs and everything! Granted they are nice looking slabs tho. Ever since i saw the la's vido "there she goes again" i've always been curious as to how one of those basses with the massive humbucker in the neck actually sounds.
22. i was thinking about buying a black PM bass from them, also Gareth Davies from funeral for a freind uses a white JM sandberg which i thought was pretty cool.
23.
Why does this whole thread make me think, the phrase "Who cares, some of you need to get out more"? Its just an instrument....an object. There are bigger things occurring in the world.
agreed. I was whatching american chopper on monday and one of them, basically this fat guy who doesn't do any work and the only reason he has a job is because he is incredibly lucky not only to have a dad who owns a business but also that they decided to single their business out of all the other custom bike shops for a tv show and his antics make good tv. Anyway he smashed up a perfectly good peavey acoustic guitar just for the hell of it Right infront of hartley peavey himself and didn't even bother paying for it. That seems slightly worse in my opinion than this.
