1. ^of course it's a stingray. Just look at the under the bridge video.
I was in the 'anti SR 5 scratchplate camp' til I stumbled across this one on ebay, which I'm collecting tonight. Just WOW. I had to buy it. And I did!!
personally i quite like it. Infact i like both. However i don't like the fact that the SUB 5 has the standard 4 p/g.
 2.
This whole relicing business seems a bit bizarre to me. I mean, if I found a nice Porsche Speedster for sale, I'd hardly ask the owner to drive it into a couple of walls to give it more character, but that's effectively what people are asking for in instruments.
however, if you crashed a car into a wall the handling and mechanical parts would most likely be affected in a negative way. Not so with a bass seeing as it's just whacking the body a couple of times, infact taking off a bit of the finish would probably make it resonate better, if only slightly. Plus metal doesn't look nice all rusty, the type of ageing you see on wood can be desirable and unless you get it wet won't damage it either.
 3. HAHA YOU LOOSER WHAT A PILE OF sh*te!!!! j/k i just had to take the bait there nah that is a very nice bass actually. I see you're a dedicated bc rich fan, obviously it's more important to you then having a nice sofa
 4.
Don't knock it, with the assistance of a glass of Pimms and lemonade in the summer, or mulled wine in the winter its a great way to spend a sunday afternoon.
never said it wasn't. You divorced then? Haha also forgot to add, he'll be whispering to his shuker "i've waited so long for you, and now i have you it's amazing!"
 5.
JV's were apparently made out of USA parts that had been shipped out to Japan to speed up the construction process. It's got an "EX" stamp on the neck which I understand means Export, although whether this means the part was for Export to Japan or Export from Japan as a complete guitar once it had been made, I have no idea. It is nice though - the neck's better than my old E series precision and it sounds as good as the modern USA one I've got.
oh yeah well don't get me wrong, it's probably a really good bass, i just think a lot of people won't see past the squier logo. I LOVE your other 2 basses btw, i'm currently torn myself between a stingray or a precision (i'm looking at a sandberg tho, since i like the idea of the musicman pickup) in those exact colours, 'board and all for my next purchase in a few years
 6.
If you come anywhere near my Shuker with anything more abrasive than a duster, it will be you getting the file treatment, I kid you not woman.
i see a divorce coming on... yes i can imagine tinman now, sitting in the house on his own, only his basses and the computer for company
 7. ^that's exactly whom i was thinking of! Oh well. I have 1-1/2 basses atm (don't ask)
 8. the annoying thing is those old squiers are like £500+ or summt for a bass that to most people is the same as the crap you can get for £170 out of any old music store! I've never played on one to be honest, are they good?

 10. ^yeah, it's like this quote by BAE in this newspaper once: "we are developing new ammunition and explosives that pose less of a risk to people and the environment"
 11.
Thanks, DirtyStatic... We actually planned that shoot - And would you believe the results came off my camera phone??
yeah actually i did think the image quality was a little bad. But the composition is brilliant!
 12. me with my highly sexy "bass guitar" just me doing my "jailbreak" pose.
Me and mum
omg, that's my mum. that must mean... WE'RE HALF-BROTHERS!!!
 13.
You might be thinking of Wizbat, the bassist for LimeShark, he uses 4 Ampeg 8*10s with 4 heads and a 7 string bass (amongst others).
THAT'S THE ONE!!! Haha dunno how i got mixed up but oh well.
 14. what happened to your ampegs? to be fair i guess ur pumping out just as much volume with those things!
 15. ^have you heard they are developing microwaves that you have to make freinds with before you can cook a meal? i'm gonna get as many wiring schematics for various electronic white goods that i can before it's too late!
 16.
Systems like these where it's just a few electric motors hooked up via a control system to a tuner (pitch sensor) have been round for years, there is a Dutch company that sells retrofit kits (can't recall the name). I think the biggest issue from the last discussion was that the torque required for bass machine-heads is significantly more than for a guitar, so the motors would have to be bigger, so really neck heavy. So I think bass ones are a few years away yet, but one day possibly ... Edit: Ah! it is actually the same Dutch company that has been licensed to Gibson. http://www.tronical.com/ Great video demo too.
not to mention that tuner knob looks totally bitchin'!!! anyway i think there might be a couple of problems, firstly can you do all types of tuning, not just standard and what if you fret a note with the tuner engaged or it accidentaly engages, does that mean you're playin some mint solo when the string suddenly goes limp and drops down to e? I guess that might get people talking anyway...
 17.
Congrats on your 30th Anniversary. You do realise that it's your Pearl Wedding Anniversary. I suppose there'll be a very special gift there then!
you do realise this isn't a drum forum right?
 18. Dude you are one hell of a crazy bitch! if only you'd just restrained yourself from getting one of those basses for a good camera : nice custom too, are those Kent Armstrong pickups in it?
 19. ^guess you can get rid of the "coming soon" off ur sig then. Any chance of sound clips to see just how Br00tal this thing sounds then?
 20. yeah personally i think those no-name basses are actually better quality than anything else for the same price really (well new anyway)
 21. ^or just change the strings maybe? But yeah if you want to play one go for it.
 22. I wouldn't say i wear what i got out of bed in. I don't actually wear all that much for bed u see. Well we've only done 2 gigs and on those we just wore what we put on that morning. However i was thinking of wearing sunglasses to our next gig (aswell as my normal clothes), just 'cos i'm the bassist and that's what we're allowed to do y'see.
 23. ^well it depends on what type of music you like, one of my songs is in B-tuning and has a solo aswell which would be a complete arse to do on a 4 string, if even possible. Also another song has the open G string aswell as the low B and it just wouldn't sound right on a 4. it also means you can play more songs without re-tuning and helps playing chords aswell. There are a lot of uses really. And yes what you pointed out is true aswell. I guess it just depends which way you look at it. You could go "what's the point when you could just learn on a 4, it's a bit lazy really" but then i could say "well if it makes it easier why should i play a 4, historical accuracy?" It's not wrong to prefer either really, just different.
 24. i like that, i think it's really cool that you have a 6, 5 and 4 string bass- infact i might do that aswell.
 25.
i just said, "im sorry i cant afford the best bass in the world, i play bass because i enjoy bass, not because i have a fancy expessive instrument"
oh man what i would have given to have that in my head for when this 14 year old spoilt little rich kid decided to start knocking my dean! Oh well here's a guy who has been thru that, so ur not alone mate. Some people just feel really insecure so they start to surround themselves with material goods and bully other people about their possesions to make themselves feel better. at least that's the way i look at it. Maybe they're just tossers.
I personally have a tone in my mind that I aim for, then over time try to achieve it. Snobbery aside, this could cost me a few grand or four hundred quid.
yep, look in the classifieds or on eBay and you just might find an old gem at a bargain price. Like my SWR.
