It was set in the future, get over it.
no need to get ur knickers in a twist i was joking ok! and yes i'm sure my bass playing will have improved enourmously since i'm pretty sh*t atm. oh and btw i'm not just starting out, i've been playing for 2-1/2 years. I suppose you mean teenagers tho 'cos i doubt any under 13's would want to talk to most ppl on here. oh and paul my moodiness is caused by various mental health problems and ear problems which culminate in a complete lack of self respect.

why guitarists are "superior" to bassists
EdwardHimself replied to SiOfBass's topic in General Discussion
Including the guitarist no mdoubt.
it is tempting when your playing the drums and he makes some derrogatory statement about you/basses/bassists actually... Whenever he does that actually, all i have to do is remind him that my bass is heavier than his guitar and longer so it will have more force, should i decide to whack him over the head with it! -
^yeah but what if some 12 year old who couldn't sing was trying out a 3000w pa system whilst you were trying out you bass with some 15w fender rumble hmm? Besides i like drums.
-
^not if your looking for a kit matey. It's all just guitars now, the basses are all off in a room at the side WITH THE PA!!!!
-
^haha yeah when i'm older i'm gonna have 2 home insurance policies! I've always had that idea even b4 reading this tho, it would be a gr8 thing to tell all ur mates: "I have so many musical instruments i had to get 2 home insurance policies out " It'll be 3 if i buy a grand piano aswell!
Even worse though they may end up bodged into a ned car pumping out dance music
they might even take the speakers out and stuff them into plywood bass bins, OMG I think i'm gonna be sick, you best trace those cabs soon buddy!
By and large, the rhythm section is deemed to be expendable. As soon as success comes round the corner the band gets axed and are replace by musicians on a wage.
unless of course they're led zepplin, then they can't go on without their original drummer -
haha seen those pics on UG, anyway that's so cool that you actually have that bass!
-
There now, that's much better. Tortoiseshell loveliness What do ya reckon to that then (ignoring, of course, any derogatory comments from the other member of my household)
oh yes, very f***ing nice!
-
unforturnately just went to soundcontrol in hull. It's sh*t, they got rid of all the drums.
-
i meant extending the fretboard by 2 frets on just one string just so you can play 2 notes tuning without changing fingering seems a bit like overkill to me. i think the whole point in d tuning is to change the fingering to make certain songs easier to play.

HOW DARE YOU BE SO GOOD AT WOODWORK!!!!
simple, dont respond...and start playing about with timing with the drummer. Does help if you have a drummer thats good, but do it on a gig,and REALLY dick about under a the guitar solo,(Its freeform right) its hard and takes practise, but if you two fire off each other really well, then the guitarists frustration will be a picture. Remember guitar players demand and need orchestrated interplay, take structure away from them and they flounder in their own ego.
haha well my guitarrist struggles to play anything which requires any sort of special rhythm at all. He can't even do the verse bit to all my life, which he obsesses over! The drummer and i on the other hand are very tight, so that could be a very fun idea to do sometime... -
^that's not what i meant you silly boy!

i know. Forturnatley i direct my own videos
I hate bands with no bass player....white stripes, yuck, whats the point of them?
well at least they have a reason for not having a bass player. (as in oly 2 people) unlike the yeah yeah yeahs where the singer is just too much of a lazy cow to actually LEARN AN INSTRUMENT!!!
haha yeah I'm working on that one! Maybe if I get my arse to the gym, shape up, I can pull off some Pete Wentz moves or something, oh yeah and while I'm at it I can learn to strum the bass!
i think it would help if you actually stood in the general area of the rest of the band playing aswell.
-
personally i think the idea of having a fingerboard extension to change from standard to d-tuning is a bit silly, you may aswell just get a 5 string if you really want to keep your fingering that much.
Just fiendishly expensive, no? I'd go with Peavey for my one brand, although I'm not sure if they do strings.
yes they do. I would aswell, peavey cirrus- peavey pro bass head into 4X1o and 1X15 and with the cirrus strings.
It's my dream too be able to say "yes." You'll get there too!
haha, i've already done it with my recordings, every1 when they first hear them is like "was this you?" and "which parts did you record?"
