Of course the drummer is the main timekeeper of the band, but IMO it is also up to the rest of the band to make sure they play in time with the drummer.
Thanks for the opinion. I can agree with it being a bit boomy. However, to assume whoever did the backing vocals wanted to "be a hero" is incorrect. The people who did the backing vocals chose to put a b9 in the harmony. To create tension, as the basic tenets of music is tension then resolve.
I thought you might say this. I do listen to bands like Alice in Chains so I am aware of that type of singing however I do think it was slightly out of tune even so, sorry.

Ok, I think in terms of the mix, it is sounding very boomy. There is too much in the 100-200 Hz range in terms of frequencies I would have said. Also some of the vocal harmonies sound a bit out of tune. I suppose whoever does the backing vocals wanted to "be a hero" and not use autotune, which is fine, but in order for it to still sound decent you have to put the work in to make sure you sing it in tune in the first place.

So i got a guitar, and I got an amp now... where to start?
EdwardHimself replied to LukeFRC's topic in Other Instruments
£20! You bitch Seriously though having spent such a small amount of money I should imagine you would have plenty of money left over for a guitar teacher. I found it was great for getting me started up to a point where I felt comfortable learning on my own.
I so want to write tuning, however best advice is find guitarist who will give some time to show stuff. Enjoy.
I helped one of my friends start off on bass and guitar so certainly something to think about as well, as long as they're not useless at teaching of course lol. -

You can't go wrong for £15 mate. Line 6s aren't bad really, I mean don't expect anything epic but for £15 sounds perfect as a starter amp. -
My rig and My newly pimped practice room
Phantastic. Though, I'd probably pop a chipboard under the sofa for a feet rest
This (although in English it's just called a foot rest). The practice place looks great. Nice idea about the gallery seating and everything, not sure who would come to watch our band practice though lol. Funnily enough I just took a picture of our practice room (which is also my bedroom) last night: -
Hmmm.So if I bought a german tuner from Thomann, would it be 443 hz.?
I don't think so. If you're worried about it though, maybe get one where you can set the reference pitch?
-
It's a nice idea if you want to put together a bass for the first time. If you want a decent bass though then you should just get this one and think of it as practice for the real thing. Also you may need a jigsaw to cut out a headstock design.

Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.

Is a bass more aesthetically pleasing than a guitar?
EdwardHimself replied to Marvin's topic in General Discussion
Yes. And imo 5 string basses look even better than 4s. -
Hey there, I was just wondering what kind of power I'd be needing for playing gigs going from small pubs, to small stage venues, like, academies and stuff. I was thinking of investing into an Ashdown MAG 810 cab with and Ashdown MAG 300 Head. Would this be enough power to be able to heard in a gig?
Yes. /thread.

Nice bass. Looking forward to it mate.
Quality. You should be very chuffed with that. The style is a tad on the "nice" side for me but I was nodding right the way through. I love the change of the vocals going from talking to screaming at the start - very evocative.... oh and the intro is perfectly fine by me. Vocals (which really could do with coming up a bit) kind of remind me of Celldweller at times.
I'm not sure I would have said "I'll kill you and put you 1.83 metres underground" is exactly "nice" but that is just my opinion obviously lol. I will sort out the vocals and everything at some point to make them more hearable.
you make me realise how talentless I am
To be honest I think editing this recording to make it sound good is not all that different from fixing up an old rust bucket
Thats a lot of blocks! What does that lot weigh?
Let me just get my atomic scales out...
They can and they will. Common sense goes out of the window when bereavement is concerned.
Well it sounds pretty selfish to me. Everyone dies and I think the most respectful thing you can do is to honour the deceased's wishes for their funeral. If there are people there that don't like it, sounds as if they didn't know this person very well anyway.

Just say it is what the family want and what she would have wanted. No-one can argue with that.

Are there any sites with a good range of .pdf tabs?
EdwardHimself replied to hellothere's topic in General Discussion
With guitarpro tabs you can export the score and or tabs as a PDF. If you don't have guitarpro already, you can downoad tuxguitar which is basically the same thing for free. -
Thanks again guys. Out of curiosity, I decided to stick it on the scales last night. The original Traveller 102P is quoted on the website as being 15kg. My monstrous behemoth with all it's extra bracing and battens along every joint weighs in at a colossal... *drum roll* ... 15.8kg. Nae bad eh.
That is really light. Mine is the 'hf and that is over 20 kilos. (23.5 kg if i remember quite correctly.)
I'm genuinely thinking of tidying it up a bit and using it on this cab now.
The picture or the beard?
-
Interesting discussion guys. I am lucky in so far I can hear whether I am out of tune whilst I am actually singing. I don't think my voice is fantastic but I think it is ok. I would agree that as far as getting a teacher is concerned, you do probably have to have to have something to work of to begin with.
-
How about this one? source =
looks legit.

I'm quite liking my rig at the moment. Eden "Metro" combo and Markbass 102HF cab. I like the amount of low end you get from it, even down to notes like G. Having said that, I think the amp is maybe a bit heavy so I am certainly not ruling out a change. As for my bass though. I have decided that I definitely need a change up from my peavey in the near future.
I get the really cheap 10 pack of biros in tesco, I want to use them for a while before I buy something decent like Bic. Do Bik have a budget brand they make in china? I could buy the budget one and upgrade it gradually.
10? That it? I got a pack of 50 from tesco the other month! (own brand, none of this posho "bic" business)
However I have something which IMO is far important in my sig - a link to my music.
I agree.
It's a weird thing, this 'retro-futurism' stuff, because 'futuristic' things from the 1950's all still appear to have come more from the period they originated in than the future they're supposed to possibly represent.
Well that's just the way it is. People don't have crystal balls to see into the future. I'm sure in 50 years time, people will comment on how quaint and outdated films like I, robot are
