1.
I want to say something cheeky, EH, but I fail to do so. However, I imagined you look a bit different.
A bit less ugly, you mean?
 2. I thought I would make a thread to discuss what is possibly even more contreversial in the guitar world than 5 string basses to us bassists. That's right, 7 string guitars and ERGs (Extended Range Guitars, much like ERBs but in guitar form). I have just bought a new guitar, a 7 string shecter diamond omen extreme. I'm just starting on 7 strings so I figured I'd get something that is not the cheapest but not really expensive either. I used my sister's camera to take these photos, hence the pink socks (don't get too excited ) I was planning on tuning this down to G, hence why I wanted a guitar with a slightly longer scale length (about 67 cm) but I'm not entirely sure what is happening now I realised that one of my other guitars was totally buggered.
 3.
Yeah, SR-16s don't forget the rhythmn and always play in time! You can also fit one in your gig box and you don't have to buy it drinks which is more than you can say for a drummer
Sounds good. A lot like this, in fact:
 4. That looks like a concrete investment.
 5. This is why i wasn't so keen on floyd roses. Like all floating trems, they have to be set perfectly for the tuning it is in, even tuning down to D can affect it. I used to have the bottom block unlocked so I could tune down to D but I found that I had problems with tuning stability so I got rid of mine. Prefer hardtails. If you want to play in different tunings then my suggestion is he gets another guitar set to drop D or brings it to gigs.
 6.
Does anyone else here who just plays bass ever think about picking up the 6 string too? I've been listening to a lot of Porcupine Tree and Opeth recently and those two bands in particular always make me wish I'd picked up guitar instead of (or as well as) bass. Examples:
It's never too late to pick up guitar now. I don't know why people always think they have to limit themselves to one instrument, I think it is this worry they have like if they start playing another instrument then it means they will be cheating on their "first love" or some crap like that. I think it is all just about being realistic. There is one of my friends who started learning guitar but then didn't bother, because he plays the bass and I think he just feels as if he has to be the BEST at everything. You've just got to say to yourself that it doesn't matter if you are amazing, as long as you enjoy it. I play guitar, bass and drums and quite honestly I am crap at all 3 but it doesn't stop me from playing them
 7.
This is me playing a keyboard older than me!!! http://soundcloud.co...er-pk150-improv Nowhere near my best playing but I've always enjoyed listening to this back for some reason. Please bear in mind it is ENTIRELY improvised Hmm... It's gone to a strange format... hold on.. Ha! That did it
This is not a video...
 8. I once bought a Samson Q8. I like this microphone because I feel that it is very sold, nice and heavy too
 9.
yeah i hear a lot about Badass', are they easy enough to fit also?
Pretty easy to fit. As I say, they make bridges which are pretty much a direct fender replacement, as in you just unscrew 5 screws, take the old bridge off, put the new one in and screw 5 screws back in. You may have to solder the ground wire onto the bridge but that does depend on the bass. Some of them just sit underneath the bridge.
 10.
I agree. But it was never the same after Ben Moody left.
This. Absolutely.
 11.
just bass bridges to replace the existing one, i assume thats correct as i dont know what a solder bridge is...haha!
Good question. I suppose the "standard" fender replacement bridge would be a Badass. One of them comes with 5 screws (can't remember if it is the I or II) which is the one you would want to replace this one with. Otherwise you could look at something like a Hipshot or Gotoh bridge.
 12.
It was a waste of money. I have to say I am astonished that it could be so bad. I suppose going through so many band changes finally took its toll.
I wasn't going to say anything but, yeah. I mean she might as well be a solo artist.
 13.
what are the current pickups? they aren't the original.
They look like EMGs to me. Pickups are not difficult to replace. Especially in something like a P bass. It does require the use of a soldering iron though. Do you know how to use one?
 14.
And as a bonus, what is a DI? And are there any good online resources for recording noobs?
A DI amplifies the signal of your bass and lowers the impedance of it so that it is loud enough to be heard on a recording or through a PA or whatever you want to do with it. You don't really need to use the DI on your bass amp if you're using an audio interface that has one on already.
 15. The dream would be one day for me and a couple of my friends to be the ones that people are saying they went to school with. Then maybe if I see them again I can tell their "mates" how much of an utter **** they were in school
 16.
Well, it isn't that obvious as it happens. I've already emailed Shure USA to ask if their spec weight is with/without mesh cap. Shure UK couldn't give me that info.
I thought it would be with the cap on, I can't see you using one without one on all that often.
 17.
275g without mesh cap.
Obviously it must be the mean weight between the mesh cap on and off then
 18.
The guitarist and drummer in this band are also in my band In For The Kill.........(Dan the bass player is also a mate, and he is a fellow Basschatter!
Nice try, but the singer is much too good to be Ozzy
 19. Damen und Herren! Oh well, once it is all over and done with you'll probably end up laughing about it.
 20.
It's only a matter of time.
Well those mics are now long gone unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view). I've not weighed any of my mics, although I did get a vernier caliper for christmas, maybe I ought to ask for a set of atomic scales for my birthday?
 21.
That was just to hide the drugs
Well I've not been murdered by a south american in a palm tree shirt just yet so I'm assuming that wasn't the case
 22. You can't be sure about it being lighter though, I remember I bought a cheap microphone and they had filled it with concrete to make it heavier!
 23. Not got any band mate videos. But here is an old photo of the bass player in my previous band (and hopefully the next one as well) being awarded the school chess champion trophy: lol.
 24.
I love this!! It's hard to believe that its a one man job. I don't know about the others, but a guitar solo in there somewhere would make it perfect for me. Top-notch stuff anywho . What rig do you use?
There was a guitar solo! Albeit a quite short one, just after the key change after the second chorus. I just used guitar rig for this. Actually for the guitars I used both guitar rig and miced up my amp to give contrasting sounds, which really helped make the stereo sound a lot better.
