1.
Hmmm...not sure the grunge era necessarily killed off guitar hero's. Stone Gossard and Mike McCreedy from Pearl Jam are awesome players and one of the best lead/rhythm combo in rock music ever. Tom Morrello is known for weird noises and is very inspirational in that vein, but is a flaming hot shredder too. Billy Corgan and James Iha from the Smashing Pumpkins are really clever musicians and came up with some classic riffs and interesting guitar tones. Jeff Buckley was pretty bad ass and one of the most melodic players I have ever heard. Peter Buck from REM is a hugely influential guitarist. I love players like Slash, Dimebag, Nuno, Vai etc… but, playing 1000 notes per bar doesn’t make a guitar hero IMO. BB King is one of my fav guitar hero’s and he will only play two or three notes in a bar and is still hugely influential after all of these years!
This. I must say this does sound worryingly like one of these "everything was better back in my day" type of threads...
 2.
Kinky
Indeed lol
Already done it on mine Ollie.
I'm tempted to build another electronic device just to put one of those switches on it lol.
 3. I remember I once drove back on my own from a gig in york in my mum's old fiesta. It was the same sort of roads that Dick Turpin would have ridden down. Quite scary on your own in the middle of the night lol.
 4.
The bass now has a new home! John in Edinburgh just bought it. He seems really pleased with it.
Who is John in Edinburgh? John Rebus?
 5.
I see what you mean now about the debut album. I might also agree that it is the best. I know a lot of people didn't like "The Open Door," but I liked it better than I was expecting. My point, though, is the new album is pretty horrendous.
I'll take your word for it. In all honesty I am pretty much sick to death of them after one of my friends in school who used to be completely OBSESSED with them. I was just like, give it a rest already.
 6.
Are you serious? That latest album sucks beyond belief.
I wasn't so keen on the 2006 affair either to be honest. Hence why I've given this new one a miss completely.
 7.
Getting a bass stolen is no fun; that's obvious. However, if I were a member of Evanescence, I'd be way more concerned that their last 2 albums were a major disappointment and can't even begin to compare to their debut. I'd be way more worried about the band losing its mojo than a lost bass.
fixed
 8.
well, yes...that is the essence of sentimental value.
badum tish.
 9. Yeah sounds totally sh*te to have something that is not worth a huge amount in terms of money but a huge sentemental value like that stolen. Not that the dickhead who stole it probably cares.
 10.
What do you mean "like"? That's me and EH's old band. EH is on drums
Oi! Careful what you say about Christina, mate. You might end up with a horse's head in your bed
 11.
"I can't practice this weekend - I'm poledancing" From the drummer.
is your drummer a looker?
 12.
Did she manage to make her own way home? ...On Valentine's Day, too! I'll get me coat and hat.
Oh no, I'm not a bag type of person. I would rather stay single for the rest of my life than go down that route again
A drummer I knew would leave it until the time the gig/rehearsal was about to start, before saying "I guess we'd better load the wagon. let's have one more spliff first". This was tolerated as he was a most excellent drummer, but we got around it by telling him the start time was 90 min or 2 hours before. So if we wanted to start at 2030 we'd tell him 1830 ...

Ah, so you've met my Ex then!
I keep getting your avatars mixed up! I thought for a second one of you were talking to yourself lol.
 13.
Ofcourse!! Cyanide pill optional?
Only if you purchase it with the optional Archduke special, which includes a luger pistol and a 6" deep river.
 14.
Followed by a warning light and siren coming on?
Nooo, you need to have one of those little hand cranked sirens that you have to operate before depressing said plunger and turning the key.
 15.
EdwardHimself, you will have to hurry up - I've just found out from the Mandolin Cafe site that Epiphone have discontinued the Mandobirds both 4 and 8 string versions, just a few days ago.
Damen und Herren
 16. No. Although I have secretly always wanted one of these: As for tabs? Well I'm not sure. Do they have mandolin tabs? I tend to just learn things by ear, myself.
 17.
I think not. Vegetarians are quiet, forgiving people, quite unlike your average bassplayer.
That's a bit prejudiced, isn't it?
 18. TBH it's hardly a surprise, most people do not have much in the way of general knowledge. Ever watched a few episodes of pointless?
 19.
I've decided you should get switches like these
Lol my friend has a game controller that has one of those switches with a little flap on it. It would look trés epique.
 20.
Thankfully, yes! Had to ask the customer services staff at Newport station to see if someone could jump onto the carriage I was travelling on to find it. No-one bothered to do so at Bristol Temple Meads or Bristol Parkway, so it wasn't until the train stopped at Swindon when they managed to get on and keep it for me until I could get there to collect it. One of the most stressful moments in my life!
Yeah, sounds it. I accidentaly left a bag on a train once. Luckily it was at the station where that train terminated.
 21. I can't see the problem really. The 2 bolts right on the top of the neck mounting hold the neck down against the tension of the strings, the bolt or bolts at the bottom are basically just there to stop it from moving side to side. I think as has been said the issue was with the tilt adjustment feature and people not being able to get their heads around it.
 22. Can't say I've ever heard of them before, but it looks great!
 23. STOP MAKING SO MUCH MUSIC!!! Well it's not something I listen to a lot of but I quite liked it. I thought you added some nice little touches in it here and there.
 24.
RDJ was a coke head from age 8 thanks to his father (including a session later on with both and Jack Nicholson)...then crack and heroin before he went to jail and got away from his pushers.
Let's hope he has managed to kick the habit, the latest Sherlock Holmes was a fantastic film in my opinion.
 25.
We all have out heads turned by the frantic playing of the Wootens, the Sheehans, the Manrings etc but, in an effort to achieve Basschat Balance, I wondered what are people's favourite slow songs. I am not using 'slow songs' in the perjorative 'last dance at the wedding/fundtion' sense. I mean what pieces of music move or excite you without the histrionics or even without a backbeat or a bass.
I'm not sure I really listen to that much music which doesn't have at least a small amount of bass and drums in it. That's the issue. Most of the songs that I do listen to of that sort are usually acoustic performances of "heavier" songs.
