1. looks nice. I think you did a pretty good job of drilling the cavity out, my only minor criticism is that you could have used masking tape to avoid ripping out paint but really it's only noticeable up close. Other than that, gr8. I think the J pickup adds a bit of versatility to the P-bass.
 2.
It's ready? I'm going to have to try it now! - but the 2 most important questions... 1) What is the weight of the thing? 2) What is the input impedence?
I think it weighs about a kilo. Someone had to say it lol.
 3.
I suspect it might be blackmn90 himself. Am I right ..?
Is this the member that would be formed if I was to be crossed with blackmn90?
 4.
I can't understand why a band would want to release an album that wasn't quite finished but already the line up had changed. If it was my band I'd be getting the new members into the studio to replace the parts of those who had left (which I have done in the past).
I think really it depends on whether you really need to or not. If, for example, you replaced the old bass player because they were sh*t and their bass lines were boring then probably a good idea but if the last player was competent and played what they needed to then sometimes it might just not be worth it, especially if it's already being mastered, which can be expensive just to go and do it again.
 5.
Technically, the song was called Monkey Wrench, and still is as far as I know. I was talking about the song, not the album. But don't lose any sleep over it.
Ok so we're on a thread talking about albums and you say "it's not a surprise you don't have a great emotional connection to your band's album" then you suddenly start talking about a single? You can see why people might get confused, no?
 6. "Is anyone truly happy?" Of course not. It's the human condition to be perpetually unsatisfied with your current situation, it's what is supposed to drive you on to bigger and better things. Of course these days now that our lives are so comfortable and there really isn't much else to strive for in our lives, we end up becoming very depressed because we can't understand why we don't have this ficticious feeling of "happy" that everyone else around us seems to have. It's why countries that have suddenly become economically prosperous like china also have some of the fastest growing suicide rates in the entire world.
 7.
If Foo Fighters offered me the job of bass player, I wouldn't suddenly get "nostalgic" about Monkey Wrench ...
Techincally, the album was called "The Colour and the Shape" Don't worry yourself too much. If it's going to be too much work for them to re record it then that's unfortunate but as you said before it'll be you next time. Get writing some awesome bass lines for then
 8.
And those are two different words - one is a noun, the other a verb. Examples you could've used: Defence, Offence.
In american they use it as a noun. And trust me, I've spent enough time applying for a "license" for the world's worst piece of computer software to know which one they use.
 9.
They are both correct. 'Spelled' is more common in the USA, 'spelt' is English.
Indeed. One of many Americanisms you have to be careful of. It's not just the centers and centres that are different, oh no. You've got things like excercise and excersize, licence and license etc... It's amazing we can understand them at all really.
 10. Gr8. Salford uni has a good music practice space. Unlike MMU which doesn't have any music practice space but then again i suppose they wouldn't need one since there isn't much point in them offering degrees in music.
 11.
It was spelt right, it was a punctuation error. See we can all play that game
Well actually it was the wrong use of the word for the context. But if you had to say that every time someone made a spelling error but the word they spelt just happened to also exist in the dictionary then there wouldn't be any spelling errors.
Too tired to apologise for name-calling over a misunderstanding though I see.
I didn't actually call you any name whatsoever. I said you were making a condescending comment, in the same way that a smug little prick would. So I apologise if offence was caused
 12. looks great. Obviously not as "reliced" as the original but i don't think that's a bad thing really.
 13.
Is someone a bit tired?
I'm tired of people making condescending jokes, yes.
 14.
Fixed
Very funny. Yeah except CBBC ends before then because all the kids will be at school by 9:00. Genius.
 15.
Yawn
If you just spelt it right in the first place then I wouldn't have to tell you (see, I can be condescending too!)
 16.
He was wrong anyway ,your not little are you Dave?
*you're
 17.
There's also a channel switch, there is radio, there are plenty of things that aren't Tv to put in the background. Calm down mate, I just made a wee joke that I make to my step-daughter nearly every day. She seems fine with it, What was I trying to say? Please enlighten me?
I don't like the suggestion that firstly you think that I don't know how to turn off a television and that also you think I'm like some sort of little kid.
 18.
Wow. If that's the edited version I hate to think what I've missed. See Dave Vader's smiley? That means you owe him an apology.
I don't really care how it was supposed to come across, we all know what he was trying to say by it.
 19.
With what my singer unleashes before every gig, i'd be much happier for the toilet not to be in the van that i have to sit in... Liam
Do you spend your time admiring other people's faeces?
 20.
TVs do have off-switches (my kids haven't worked that one out yet either)
Well I can't do any work without having something on in the background and before you make another patronising comment like a smug little idiot, I got an A* in maths so obviously that technique worked for me (this included working whilst watching actual decent TV on an evening before you say anything else).
 21.
Just doing my job. I'm not condoning people doing nasty things to guitarists... I actually missed that post, but more importantly if anyone is offended by it, they have not spoke up, unlike people that are offended by people killing cats... Who have spoken up in number. Either way, it doesn't need discussing or dragging on. I've edited the posts. The thread is about uses for old strings, not hurting cats or guitarists. If you think too PC then PM me and we can discuss further. Cheers chaps P.S. what's wrong with daytime BBC programming!?
Well technically he was on about skinning cats which would suggest that the cat was already dead. As someone who had to sit through countless episodes of homes under the hammer when I was re-doing my A-levels at home I can assure you everything is wrong with BBC1 on a daytime. I used to get up no earlier than 9 just so I didn't have to watch breakfast. TBH I think if you don't like what someone is saying then you should take it up with them via the private messaging system.
 22.
I am an hetherosexual in every way possible but that woman's vulgarity, is the biggest turn off thing I have ever seen. Please put her away for good, she is runing my libido.
A Hetherosexual?
 23.
I'm suprised that we're 7 pages in and nobody has put a Traben up yet. Bloody abominations IMO!
TBF i think it would be fine without that bridge.
 24.
Folks - all references to hurting cats have been removed after multiple reports have been submitted to the mods. Seems there are lots of animal lovers on Basschat... so lets please keep the animal cruelty out of it.
Oh fgs. It's going to end up like BBC1 during the daytime before long...
