1. I remember there was a thread about PAT testing a few years ago on here, the general consensus being that you might as well just buy the little sticker that says your gear has passed a PAT test for like 50p or something.
 2. it should be fine to daisy chain them together. Pretty sure the firebass is built to handle 2 ohm minimum load.
 3.
I went off vinyl in the 80's, mainly because I believed the hype about CD's sounding better etc. They don't sound better at all. I bought a cheapish turntable before Christmas, a Rega RP1. I've listed to a track on CD, then switched to vinyl, there's loads more detail in the vinyl.
I've personally not found that to be the case at all but w/e, everyone is different of course I'd certainly agree with having it mastered for each medium- when I ripped a couple of records onto my PC I tweaked the EQ a bit in order that it sounded better in a digital format.
 4.
yes to all of the above, and i'd just like to say much respect for taking this route. digital is rubbish. lo9ng live vinyl.
In your opinion, of course.
 5.
and I (being a musician) was completely flabbergasted by the computer models, the 3d printers (one with powder, one with plastic) that allowed us to improve the design before cutting metal.
As a musician (sort of) and an engineer, I resent your sweeping generalisation there 3d printers are great because as nice as a computer model is, being able to make a real physical model of something straight from a CAD file in such a short space of time is a real boost for designers who can get a much better idea of how their stuff will turn out in real life. It's looking nice anyway. Apparently we do have some machines, we're just not allowed to use them. Great.
 6. LOL I don't think any amount of gear would make me want to go to another bass guitar show...
 7. I had my peavey bass strings on for 3 years from when I bought it to when I sold it. Not very long. Don't know if this counts, but when I bought my columbus bass, it came with some strings on it that if they weren't original, must have been at least 20-25 years old. I ended up using one of them to hold the curtain in my bedroom window up...
 8. £20? You can't afford not to get it really, that's a steal.
 9.
That was a joke based on a Clive cartoon in The Times from the 1990s. Clive and similarly be-suited City slicker are looking up at the stars and his mate says, "looking at the universe, don't you feel so small, so insignificant?". Clive replies "not really, I have a Porsche" I don 't actually have a Porsche and if I did it probably wouldn't be a keeper
lol. I thought you were referring to this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...0&start=140 weird eh?
 10. I think it really depends on how you define the word. If you think about it, nothing is really "permanent". Everything in the universe, including the universe itself, is simply in a transient state that had a start and will have an end and then the endless cycle of ultimate destruction and regeneration will repeat itself. That's just my opinion, anyway...

 12.
Ukulele's a way under-rated instrument and there's a bit of a Uke Revolution going on at the moment. As it's uses nylon strings, much easier to handle than a guitar and only has the 4 string a lot of kids are playing ukes in schools. That's getting a lot of parents involved as well and groups are springing up across the UK. I play uke for fun (I have a concert and a tenor)I have a and it's great working out songs, transposing them if need be, and then playing them. There's a host of uke stuff on YouTube so well worth a look around. More bass uke!
Cool idea, but that bloke's singing at the camera is freaking me out.
 13.
J J Brunel? First post! I had to register and wait overnight to make that joke!
No i meant I K Brunel Welcome to the forum, I'm honoured that you joined in order to reply to my post
 14. I've seen that the bass players out of Attack! Attack! (UK) and Elliot Minor are on here, but obviously as has already been brought up it really depends on who or what you define as "really famous". I think really though there are very few bass players who are very famous as bass players and expecting them to come on here is like expecting Brunel to appear on a Civil Engineering forum, thus it would be a slightly pointless question to ask...
 15. Erm, what happened to the neck?
 16.
The Blaggers! Yeah, that rings for me My guitarist is a big fan of widdling, to the extent that I had a suspicion he must be amazing - like a latter day Satriana, or something, just with a penchant for heavy rock. I've since discovered the widdling is a smoke screen for inability or inexperience - easier to widdle than admit to your limitations and get on with the rest of the band. Hence my thought that it's a lot more common than we think.
+ a big 1 to that. The guitarist in our old "band" did all the widdly-diddly (not ned flanders) sort of stuff all day long but when it came to actually being anywhere near the beat he just totally lost all his credibility.
 17.
Youre not going to eat that are you??
it IS butterscotch.... coat.
 18. I think this whole "no bass" idea is just a bit of a fad. Started out with the white stripes, then went onto the gossip (who also started the "let's buy this person's records because they're fat and ugly and therefore we can pretend that we're not just shallow and obsessed with looks" trend followed on swiftly by Susan Boyle) and now paul simon. Unfortunately 95% of music listeners wouldn't be able to hear the bass anyway on account of playing music through their tinny little laptop speakers or "skullcandy" earbuds...
 19. Low output means exactly what it says, the output signal of the pickup is low. It means that you have to turn your gain up on the amp to be the same level as a higher output model. There is no distinct disadvantage in having a low output pickup in itself. Indeed some low output pickups like lace sensors have a very nice tone to them, very "detailed". The problem is that because it requires further amplification then you have to make sure you have everything like shielding in order because they can be subject to more noise otherwise. Also if you've got your amp turned high then remember to mute it before you plug/unplug your bass

 21. I think a lot of people just like to criticize others to make up for their own shortcomings.

 23.
I may have a chance to tour with my mate's reggae band, in JAMAICA.
I find whenever i tell people that i "may have a chance" to do something, that usually it never comes off. Also I tried playing a type of music that I didn't like for opportunities' sake. Didn't really work out.
