Probably not true - there's a lot of psychological research that supports employing imagination and visualisation techniques to improve ability at many things. Athletes run races in their minds, F1 drivers replay times of peak performance. Bass players dream of ideal basses and how the added inspiration would raise their game. I know I do.
You just keep telling yourself that seriously though you can make yourself better on the bass by that method, but you kind of actually have to shut your eyes and imagine playing the bass. And not just like passively, you actually have to think about playing the exact notes of the song you're trying to learn and the movement of your fingers and that.
 2.
It going to be Surf green with a maple/black blocks neck, what are the feelings on a matching headstock?
Go for it. I did. It was awesome.
 3. "harley benton are good. i had one as my first bass. " Posted may 21st 2007, 3:05 PM
 4. Did you get the drummer out of kismetik on that song then seriously though, I thought it was good. The guitars sounded nice.
 5. Lol. Yeah I remember my friend nicked my computer for a bit so he could send his ex a message on facebook under my tag. Not good...
 6.
You've been in my chemical romance for 2months? You should give the zutons their song back
lol. Yes i should have probably put an apostrophe between the M and the CR...
 7. It's a toughie. I probably would go with the Jon Shuker option since it's built in yorkshire and everything hehe.
 8. It can be annoying not having a band. I've now been in MCR for over 2 months supposedly one of the music centres of the world as it were. Only it turns out there aren't quite as many bands as i expected.
 9.
Well this is brilliant, I think you had another thread with this on and I liked it then and I still like it now - fantastic stuff.
Thanks again man. I know I should probably stop pimping this recording all the time without at least adding the vocals to it. In the mean time I am working on a new instrumental track that should be done in maybe a week or 2 at this rate...
 10. Hmm you do realise this is a family site and everything!? (supposedly) oh well. Very nice. (the bass I mean...)
 11.
BUT... ON FRIDAY I WAS IN A BIG SHOW! SINGING AND PLAYING BASS! I'M BACK BABY! I NEVER EVER EVER THOUGHT I'D BE ABLE TO GET BACK ON STAGE AGAIN, AND I BLOODY LOVED IT!
OMG!!! That text... Lol seriously though, well done. Anxiety is not good. Everyone seems to have had it. All the girls at least. And me.
 12.
Goodo, I'll start figuring out a way to share them on the internets (3 files 234Mb each minimum.....should be fun). In the meantime this may interest you.
Can you not just convert to an MP3?
 13.
1982
I really like the use of clever modern musical devices in this piece, such as the use of 2 distinctly different keys for the vocals and instruments in the chorus hehe jk.
 14.
You came a long way in 4 years mate, Control is really, really good! It's a very commercial composition, very listenable, and very well played! It deserves a great vocal
I think commercial and listenable is very much what I was going for. I'm going to try for the vocals probably over christmas. Can't promise I'll deliver on the "great" though...
 15.
The whole track sounds a bit like it's under water since I converted it to an mp3.
I'd say that's a pretty good description of a low BR mp3 file. I liked the first song. It is of course very of it's day but i think you did a good job, everything sounded nice and tight. The new stuff is just erm, well, erm It sounded as if you did a good job with the actual recording itself though...
 16. That guy is awesome , talk about getting a warm round tone from a fat playing finger eh lol. Also I've seen that bill clements vid before. Truly something.
 17.
My apologies. Mods please remove.
Too late now, the damage is clearly done...
 18. Awesome stuff. I think when you're done you ought to put a big sticker on each saying "MADE IN YORKSHIRE" hehe
 19.
Control sounds really cool, the opening part with the chromtically ascending and decending synth is very Skunk Anansie (which I like!).
I really can't stand that band lol but thanks all the same
 20. Here we go. I don't have any of the really old stuff (computers ) but here is something from 4 years ago (which for me is pretty old!) and something from this year: oh yeah...
 21.
Looks very nice. can I ask what the pickup selector switch does on a single pickup guitar? does it cut or boost the signal or something?
IIRC It activates some kind of tone circuit...
 22.
How about if I buy a new CD of some band and then offered to pass it around to everyone on Basschat?
Imo it doesn't really work like that with books. Unless you photocopy every page then you're only going to be able to read it for as long as you have it. Once it's gone, it's gone. CDs are of course different because you can rip the music onto your PC and be able to listen to it even after the CD itself is long gone.
 23.
PS: I love the fact that I can say Twat! Mmmmmm.... Twat Twat Twat Twat Twat Twat! ...... Mmmm very satisfying.
Very f***ing satisfying indeed we've all been turned down here and there whether it's been bands, jobs, girls, w/e. You've just got to pick yourself up and move on.
 24. Not got one myself, but I figured that we didn't want anyone accusing us of being racist (bassist?) with the white basses thread lol. Plus there are some nice ones out there. So... what you got?
