The key is the dude in front of the desk!
A Huge +1 to this! You've got all the gear now, you just need to get the idea now lol. Also those MP3 conversion "add ons" are a waste of time. It's the same story with cakewalk as well. You pay like £350 for the top end version only to be told you need another £20 just to export as MP3! No thanks, I'll just export as WAV and convert in audacity using the LAME mp3 encoder. I think you should show us just a couple of pics, after all it can't be any worse than mine
 2. So you're just learning bass are you? as opposed to learning bass and juggling sheep at the same time? Lol only joking.
BTW, four fingers per fret is OK if it's nearer to your body, above the 5th fret. If you are doing that at the low end of the neck (1st position)where the strings are farthest away from you, it's not really a good idea, it can strain your fretting hand. Most bassists with normal hands find it difficult. I've been playing for many years and I still find that very uncomfortable. Good luck!
I have pretty small hands and I don't really have a problem with this. You need to make sure your thumb is resting on the back of the neck which might feel unusual at first but you get used to it and it allows your fingers to stretch further. Also don't forget, as Victor Bailey says, the first 5 frets are the "money frets"

 4. Good luck. I had an "audition" the other week. Haven't heard from them since...
 5. You're kidding right? I forked out 400 big ones for mine used. This should have no problem selling for £350.
 6.
Is yours the same model or is it the cheapo version with Jazz Bass pickups? If you got a shop-soiled Millennium AC BXP 5 in quilted black violet with 5 individual monorail bridges, double coil Cirrus pickups & active EQ for £200, then I'd say well done, that was a bargain.
It was indeed the active version with the buckers and everything. I sold it for £160 to a friend, maybe i could have asked for more having seen this but w/e. Mates rates and all that...
 7.
This one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT has the same pickups as the cirrus and growls like a good 'un.
good bass, but £259!? I didn't pay that new for mine. It was £200, okay it had a knob missing but then again is it worth paying £60 for a knob?
 8. Welcome to the forum what is it you want to know about the amp exactly?
 9.
Yeah waiting lists are very long for CBT - shame because it's very useful, you can get some good self help books (I've a shelf full of 'em!)
It's funny you should mention self help books actually, because the one I read just read like a long pharmecutical advert...
 10.
Hello! bottomendian grassed you all up asking about me... Thought I'd quickly check in and say hi, my bassiness is kind of on hold at the min after both my band and lessons went balls up for totally random reasons. I'm not fulltime at work in a really stressful job, and currently battling generalised anxiety disorder and bad panic attacks. Other than that life's peachy
Panic attacks and anxiety disorder suck. I've been there.
 11.
Iron Maiden and Metallica don't really suit the violin....
But they seem to go rather well on the cello
 12.
A harley you say?................Wheres the wheels!! (Chortle)
yes we all got over that joke 5 years ago lol. Seriously though my first bass was a harley benton which i got 5 years ago. It was pretty good for £65 new i must say.
 13. There was "Neko" who joined a couple of months ago, I've not really seen her about the place since the end of last month though. Which isn't actually a very long time.
Dunno about Zoe (did she finish sixth form this year and start a new, exciting university life?)
As opposed to me, who started a pretty old and boring university life...
 14. Might have done but i already have all those games unfortunately.
 15.
Maybe they just didn't like you?
Well i think they need to get "liking" people a bit more if they ever want to find a bass player.
 16.
just set this up
If you wanted to you could set up a tribute band, "the purple chili little bastards" lol. Coat...

 18. Because no-one wanted a guitar player . LOL jk. The real story goes as follows. Having owned a crappy acoustic guitar (that me and a mate eventually filled with water and dropped on the back patio when the neck started coming away at the heel) since about 2002, I had decided to get an electric and start learning properly at the end of 2004. Then about 6 months later in the summer of 2005, my mates decided we would start a symphonic rock type band with a couple of the local goths (don't make me mention the "E" word, but it was like that). Well since we didn't really know any bass players I eventually took it upon myself to take up low end duties and with some of the money I'd got from my birthday (having got a Peavey Ultra X as my main present) I bought a £65 jazz copy off thomann (and unfortunately a crappy cheap bass amp too which i ended up selling but could have got a better bass if i'd not bought it in the first place). The band pretty much fell apart after a bit, they didn't want me any more (we got it back together for a bit a year later but that's a different story.) but of course by then the seeds had already been planted and the bass playing stayed. I reckon I would have picked it up anyway since I play the guitar and drums now so really you have to play bass as well to "complete the circle" as it were.
 19. Starcaster eh? Intersesting. It's the brand they put on their beginner drum kits. Some kid asked if he should buy one "so he could match the brand of the guitar and bass in his band". Ok mate why don't you just buy a TAMA kit and make them buy ibanez guitar and basses instead?
 20.
Good man Eddie. I see you are already using A and C tunings so that's pretty low as it is but there is always scope to go further.
One of my basses as i mentioned already is tuned down to g . It's only a 4 string though so there is not really enough range. I had a look at those conklin basses and as i said before i nearly picked up a 7 string on ebay. It was a custom jobbie by some bloke in uraguay or something (it had already been imported into the uk though!) and the guy was selling it for like £450. Bit of a bargain i thought. Oh well. Maybe in the future...
 21.
Nice one, good luck with the build and I'm looking forward to seeing a build thread You're in safe hands with Alan
+1. I must say you guys have really got me thinking with this thread...
 22. Go for it man. I nearly bought a 7 string bass but it would have been my only main bass at that point so I didn't really have the balls. I might do in the future. As for low F# I can get down to G on one of my basses but any lower and I usually just have to octave up. But hell i mean if you want to go down that low then do it.
 23.
7-0-1 as it stands...
make that 9-0-1
