1. Also I made a bass from parts as well- only i bought a Jazz bass body and a P bass neck! O.o
 2.
There is one on their website which is what the post is referring to. Number 14. Whats that worth? Edit: here's the link http://www.emeraldcityguitars.com/products...-precision-bass
Christ. There is too much vintage fender/gibson porn in that shop to shake a stick at! Reckon they could buy out the federal gold reserve with that lot!!!
 3.
I've never really been a fan of vintage basses, but I gotta tell ya, I love the look of '51 P's. I really do. Damn you, Emerald City Guitars!! Truckstop
This aint no 51 p?
 4.
"Lastly, dont build a bass to save money, build a bass because its something you want to do." So true, I could have bought a fairly serious bass for the money I've spent on my last build (not including time it's taken) . Nobody else has anything quite like it.
Same here, only not for the right reasons should have just bought a musicman really...
 5.
Brilliant song. What is it with female singers not being able to go up & down scales? I work with 3 of them & it's always "I can't sing that in THAT key" or "The verse is to low/chorus is too high". Do guys generally have a bigger range?
According to my sister (an expert singer), yes.
 6.
I'm a year older and in slightly battered condition, so where should they put me?
Hang yourself up in a local guitar shop , £150 should get you sold to a crazy 15 year old who will take you to pieces, paint you in glow in the dark paint then cut half of your arm off and do a half job of sanding the glow in the dark paint off, leaving you with a very rough half glow in the dark, bit of original, bit of primer finish. Or thereabouts anyway.
 7.
Not quite! Boffin head on now... Weight is not subjective. It is absolute unless either a). the mass of the bass changes or . the earth's gravitational pull changes. As I assume that neither are about to happen, then the weight is a constant. However, the perception of weight is definitely subjective!
+1! If i go to the gym enough times then suddenly 16kg feels a lot lighter than before, but it's still 16 kg and it still has a weight of 16x9.8=156.8 N or thereabouts. The gravitational pull of the earth does change ever so slightly depending on what altitude you are at and what objects are above and below you exerting their own gravitational pull but these differences in terms of the everyday are so tiny that one can consider them neglegable.
 8.
If it's a definite keeper, I'd go for Warmoth - pricey but top quality.
I'd say +1. Otherwise there is allparts or WD music.
 9. f*** me that should be in a museum! That is in such a nice condition, to think it's 46 years old...
 10. Unfortunately this is pretty much how my bass turned out too. You've just got to ask yourself when it's time to stop polishing lol.
 11.
Breaking the Law - Judas Priest The Trooper - Iron Maiden Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica Master of Puppets - Metallica Enter Sandman - Metallica Symphony of Destruction - Megadeth Domination - Pantera Sweet Child o Mine - Guns n Roses (I always thought it seemed a bit out of sorts with the thrash ¬¬) Ace of Spades - Motorhead Paranoid - Black Sabbath Slither - Velvet Revolver Pain for Pleasure - Sum 41
Now that is a set! I really want to play SoD in a band, i've been pracising my Dave Mustaine impression and everything lol. And yeah, also the avatar...
 12.
Isn't it an Iron Maiden album?
+1
 13. It took them an hour to write it? I think that should tell you everything.
 14. It's a very nice example, but i agree. £3k seems slightly excessive for a 70s jazz...
 15. I think that "bass" is having an identity crisis lol.
 16. Not "bought" anything off him per se but a gent to deal with when he fixed my amp.
 17.
Here's a few from days when I had a sofa!
That's what you call a committed bass player! Hehe
 18.
the tuning is B F# B E, basically C# standard but the C# dropped to B. so they're all low. I dont think a B from a 5 string would make much difference. I got a set of Heavy strings that I cant seem to find online but my email confirmation tells me they're 'Bass Boomers Nickel Plated 50-115 Heavy' and the 115 I could barely get through the BadassII bridge! not to mention the fact that if I use a plec and hit the E string hard, it pops off the nut!! finger style doesnt seem to have that issue
These are simple issues to fix. You need to file the nut slightly to allow a bigger string to fit. You should be able to get a bigger string through a badass bridge. The heavier ones are usually taperwound so you can get the first bit in easier.
 19.

Care to ellaborate?
 20.
The clue to this question is in the OP's post I don't think I've been in a band where's it's been all sweetness and light, it seems to be par for the course that there is always some friction, particularly bigger bands. Maybe I haven't been in the right bands.
Well there you go. TBH i am going to suggest that since the OP has not actually replied yet, that he is trolling.
 21. Here is EHs PV: And here is my old Peavey, which was also pretty cheap:
 22.
Yeah my tuners are the smaller ones like on Eds. In fact the more I look at Ed's before he changed the neck and everything the more I think they are really, really similar, possibly the same year? Sure Jon could help there.
Actually the original neck is the current neck. Long story...
 23.
Is he on the Autistic spectrum at all by chance. There are a lot of undiagnosed people out there struggling with social & emotional development & behaviour.
+1. Yeah i think calling people "social retards" just because they are not blessed with the same social skills as most people is a very harsh thing to say. For all you know he could have something like aspergers or something like that. Have you tried asking him?
 24. I thought i saw someone with a nice looking vintage camera talking to Dood....
 25.
Nah it's still called Fibbers, but it's hard to tell because of the gay font they used.
Ok well yeah i just started getting a newsletter from "tokyo york" which may have to be cancelled or spammed or something...
