2.
Yes definitely interested in that. Also if you're willing to share the information I'd be interested to know how much this bridge is costing you.
I would say probably somewhere around the £3290 mark as a guess
 3.
Bloody hell ... I had to do English, Geography and Economics ....
I would have made a bass too, only I couldn't do the second year since i got a U
 4.
I got a bass because we had a band no instruments. Everyone else could borrow something else I could get a bass for a fiver a week
Yeah that's pretty much why EH got a bass as well, originally. No-one else in the "band" actually had one so i decided to pick up bass duties and bought some jazz copy of thomann for £65.
 5.
I am Mark King
yeah SURE you are, and i'm David Cameron
 6.
Cheerz chaps, birthday is not until January, but it's the best excuse I could think of
Look at it this way, it's already been 59 years and 9 months leading up to this point...
 7.
Call me a cynical old cnut (please do!) but is is it possible he's doing this by detuning his bass, playing along with the track slowed down and then speeding it up on the video? There just seems to be a bit of Benny Hillness From about 1:40ish on Coffee Shop Of course fair play to him however he did it.
hmmm don't think so. It doesn't sound like that's what he did, not to my ear anyway. I think he's just so fast that it might look like he's playing faster than he is but if you look at his head as well as the actual framerate of the video it looks normal imo. Anyway yeah I was really impressed with that video i must say. It also kinda makes you appreciate flea as a player a bit more too.
 8.
Which sh*t Hole is that?
Cavendish Street.
 9. Hi guys. I've not actually purchased a bass day ticket or anything. I'd really like to know if there is even the remotest possibility of being refused entry or being sold out on the door because there is no way I want to be staying in this sh*t hole for another weekend just to be told I'm not allowed in...
 10. I'm not. Not least because they were already on in Manchester.
 11.
What are you using to record Luke? Audacity seems to compress the sh*te out of anything i'm throwing at it...
Actually i should think that compression is compressing the sh*te of anything you're throwing at it...
 12.
How on earth is your band going to fit 42 numbers into one night? That's nearly 3 hours worth of playing!!
Or 3 minutes if we're talking Napalm Death type covers here...
 13. That looks like one hell of a bass! I don't think i've bought any stuff for a particularly weird reason ever in my life before. Well apart from the fact that I spent a STUPID amount of money on some unpadded stag gig bag thing on monday because I needed it that night for an audition that I didn't even manage to find!
 14. 1969!? That's a long break man. What have you been doing all these years? lolz
 15.
It is stupid day for me, so apologies if I am being thick, but if you have been communicating with him for a few weeks by email, why don't you email him saying, erm, what's your workshop address please Paul? It's worked for me with Jon Shuker, John East and Martin Sims.
EH would tend to agree with this.
 16. "Wow! I didn't know a bass guitar could make these sounds. I always thought it was just really low, deep notes that kind of played in the background behind the guitars." I thought the bass playing sounded good, especially if you've not played for 9 years...
 17. Nice rig. I have both my basses tuned a step lower then the "standard" so for the 5, that means ADGCF. It's great because it means you can play a load of different songs on it and go all the way down to A if needs be.
 18.
Also note Steve Harris removes the tone control from his bass, a habit from playing small gigs where people would touch the knobs, he signals a guy for tone changes. As for buzzing, I'd get a meter and check everything is earthed to everything else.
That's what i'd probably do. In fact that's what i did do i don't bother with tone controls, just don't see the need really.
 19.
no bass player?
bass players are a different breed mate
 20. If you like it then fair enough, dunno if i would trust the user reviews as they're no doubt from a bunch of pre-teens lolz.
 21.
Not a rig, but a small collection of my preamps:
how many preamps does one need!!!? Anyway here's another pic of mark the bass cabinet, just to keep things a bit more interesting...
 22.
Heh, the dude from Mnemic is a beast. Re: frequencies below 30hz, you can (in theory) amplify them (see the thread about the Prodigy's PA for some more discussion) but you need lots of power and lots of speaker area, and in practice it tends to be all mushy if you try and make it all about the fundamentals. Most of the sound of the strings is made up of higher harmonics. To be honest, if I was playing with guitars tuned below B I would probably do as Meshuggah do and play the bass line in the same octave- trying to do the octave down thing just seems like a lot of hassle to me (although certainly possible if that's what you want).
I was going to suggest the same thing actually. I've got a bass that goes down to G tuning but really i think you can get away with tuning in A and octaving up the rest of the notes.
 23.
I do apologise. It was a flippant remark, relating to the current furore over the price of pickguards on the site. EDIT: obviously I'm not suggesting that Jon Shuker would charge $500 for a pickguard, no not all. I'll stop now.
Maybe if it was made out of pink diamonds or something...
 24.
This means its 47 x 103 = 47000pF
10^3 surely?
