I'm very saddened by this news. Here was me thinking he was just taking a break from this forum so it has come as quite a shock. I never met him myself but he obviously sounded like a grade A bloke. RIP
  2.
Fair point but think I was just unlucky that there's been a run on Mackie kit recently (or I'm just a sucker for a dodgy salesman's trick).
Oh no i just was thinking that they didn't want to get in any mixing desks for you, which turns out it's not true so you can pretty much disregard that comment
  3.
So how excited are u? I'm shocked digital village wouldn't get in without u paying. They got 6 keyboards in for me with no obligation of buying any!
Maybe It's just easier to sell keyboards than digital mixing desks?
  4.
Warwick Pro Tube IV BTR 2000 Tuner SWR Goliath
I really like the look of those original goliaths. I used to have one of them just like that. Did you aquire that recently?
  5. Here is EH's new bedside table: Or at least that's what it pretty much functions as until i can get an amp head lolz.
  6.
Gold sparkle is so tacky
Well you clearly need to give it a bit more time for the finish to dry then Nice idea. I liked the first pic as well.
  7.
Must not browse the Thoman website!
+1!!! Also, can i just say? If you're not getting a really big screen, you might find it an idea in the future to go for 2 monitors side by side. I find this very useful because it means i can have track view in one monitor, virtual console and effects in the other.
  8.
The look good, but the truth is in the listening. Also it depends what you like. Some engineers prefer using a speaker which flatters the music and some prefer (like me) a speaker which shows up every wart and wrinkle. I love my monitors Yamaha HS50m's which do exactly the latter. They also do a HS80m which got great reviews too. Best way to choose monitors is select 2 or 3 sets of speakers that your interested in. Take in 2 songs which you know inside out (I chose back in black and some dream theater) and abc them. Make sure the styles vary enough. Digital Village usually have a room setup for doing exactly this
+1 i was going to say you've got to give them a listen really.
  9.
OK, I'm pretty much there with: Mackie 1640i, http://www.dv247.com/computer-hardware/mac...ro-tools--74872
A big +1 on that, if i had £1000 to spend on improving my recording setup i would get myself one of these.
  10.
Damn, I've just logged on to DV247 and seen these monitors at a stupid price: http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/m-au...-monitor--63497 Mmmmmm......
It's worth getting a decent set of monitors because otherwise you'll only end up wanting a better pair later. Also i think 4GB of ram should be fine, get an external hard disk.
  11.
There are brands of bass that aren't to my tastes but I prefer to not comment rather than point out that I'm not a fan of certain gear. It's just negative. For the record I think Fender's gear just looks classic & timeless
+1 to this as well. Unless it is a thread specifically asking for your opinions on a particular brand, why bother posting that you don't like it? I don't much like Tommy K but i don't go posting it everywhere!
  12.
My '58 EB-2 - definately not pristine! Certainly true through that marketing was a key part of Fender's success - Gibson could have learned some lessons when lauching the less trad Explorer and Flying V in the late 50's, but obviously didn't - they flopped
+1. The explorer looked futuristic in the 1980s which is when it gained it's real popularity, it's hard to believe it was designed in 1959. If gibson had tried marketing more radical guitars instead of just solid/semi solid versions of their old 1920s/30s guitars then they no doubt would have captured a whole new market. Yes, they might have alienated a few of the jazz purists which i'm sure is what they were worried about but at the end of the day that would have easily been dwarfed by the number of new people buying their guitars. But i suppose that's just hindsight now lolz. Nice bass btw.
  13. Well the SDs are easier to fit because they will work with your current pots and output jack, plus they look a bit more fitting. Having said that i love the sound of EMGs, it really depends on what sort of sound you want at the end of the day?
  14. ...or am i all on my own again? Sorry. I have this problem with my guitar because being explorer shaped you tend to hit the end of the body at the top on a lot of things.
  15. My parents finally decided to tell me that apparently Sarah Beeny lives in the village next door to us. I still don't know if they're joking or not though.
  16. £20grand sounds like a good budget for a home studio to me. Obviously any money you make from the studio is not going to really recover the costs as i'm sure you know. The thing is that people want to pay for the expertese of the producer, as much as the studio itself. Also if you're going to drop this sort of money on the studio then it's very important that you take your time and do your research. I think you should set up a thread on your studio build so that you can recieve help from some of the recording experts on here, as well as to satisfy people's curiosities
  17.
Just ignore him, as Clarky said elsewhere "He's not fit to lick Mark King's bendwell"
I was just wondering if someone else on the forum had set up the profile as a joke or something?
  18.
I haven't noticed i will hav to check it out now!! haha
It's probably not very funy to anyone else, it's just some girl's nickname i used to know (well more "friend of a friend" really lolz.)
  19.
..... and with apologies to those who have seen it before; le piece de resistence! this is now mine .......
I nearly bought a bass rig once owned by Jay James. But then someone with sniping software outbid me literally at the last second. In a way i'm quite glad because it would have been f***ing heavy! Anyway why are there 2 of these threads?
  20.
The standard moulded composite one is only about £25 though. The good thing is that you always know your nut will fit perfectly. The reason I went for the JANIII is because the Rockbass was older stock and came with A JANII which, conversely is an awful piece of design the reason I got the Brass one is because it's going on a very special bass, and it looks lovely.
£25 sounds a bit more reasonable to me.
  21.
That you can, but you can't "un-file" a nut. The Just-a-nut means you can lower and raise the night to your hearts content without ever having to replace it... Eude
but you could replace a standard nut 16 times over with the price of it! Sorry. I think it's a great idea, but not worth £80.
  22. Sounds great. I've already seen the video for "not afraid" several times on the telly. I must say i proper loled @ the registration on one of the light aircraft.
  23.
kingy is a charlatan!!!!!!!! stole everything from me!!!!!!!! my thumb is twice the size and speed of his!!!!!!!!
Lolz is this some sort of joke or something?
