1.
All seems really complex to me! I'm getting the pickup resistance values tomorrow, but I want a three way pup selector, tone and vol for both pups, series/parallel/coil-tap switch for the HB, villex rotary booster. Sounds complicated to me! Any help is greatly appreciated
Doesn't sound too bad to me.
 2. Also you might just be in luck with the nut, i'll try and see if i can find the one off an old neck that died.
 3. That's pretty harsh. It's usually the bloke who has everything nicked off him. Looking in here i've got an assorted bunch of knobs, a couple of pickup screws, some pickguard screws and a truss rod cover. As well as an output jack although it's more of a PCB jobbie.
 4.
I may need some help with the circuit design
Guitar electronics is rather simple. Expecially compared to amps lolz. Help with what exactly?
 5.
The reason they went to 3-bolt was to save money! Can you believe that?
Yes actually.
 6. Y'know what they say. "If you want something done right..." lolz nice one.
 7. I personally think Macca is an okay bass player. Not particularly amazing but okay. However i do think he is a grade-A prick. I mean "meat free monday?" What the f*** is that about? Supposedly about being good for the environment? Yeah give it a f***ing break man! We all know you just want to save the cute little farm animals. Get f***ed, w***er.
 8.
As it happens these are just in from Jon...
Awesome. Those are some really nice pickups as well lolz.
 9.
It's all smoke and mirrors. The tone of a bass guitar is almost entirely down to the length and type of string, the type of pickup and it's position along and proximity to the string. Everything else has minimal effect.
I disagree entirely that the choice of body wood has nothing to do with the end tone of your bass. Yes the pickup "picks up" the magnetic resonance of the strings. But the bridge works both ways: The tone from the strings is transmitted through to the body but at the same time the body transmits tone back to the strings. That's why solid body guitars have more "sustain". If you think about it it makes sense; N3L and all that. Of course the transmission of the tone back to the strings is going to be affected by what frequencies are absorbed by the wood and which are transmitted back to the strings. I personally find that certainly the sound i hear acoustically on my bass is very much transmitted into what i hear from the amp. And this is massively affected by the choice of woods and everything.
 10.
Here's mine, moved on some other trace gear so now this is my main gigging rig 1048h+trace 4x8+ ah500 12 smx.It is simply brilliant, the condition and sound of this rig is fantastic, nice highs due to 4x8 but not too harsh due to not much horn used (ooh err) All driven by a classic 500watt trace head with pre valve, mint.
Looks like it's quite heavy. Then again I suppose you're not too bothered about heavy rigs lolz
 11.
You bast.... What does the "tayste" switch do?
It's all on the build thread. Apparently it's a preset EQ or something.
 12.
My one bass related wish would be to have a box that contained any bass I desired on the moment of opening.
Or maybe one with a knob that you can turn to change what type of bass you're playing, and maybe a knob or faders to change the colour/finish, one for the number/arrangement of strings and obviously a switchable active EQ too I just thought we were on about real basses that's all lolz.
 13. I think for EH it would have to be a USA peavey cirrus 5 stringer in blue.
 14. Ouch it's a shame when the router gives you a bit of a problem like that but otherwise it's looking like a really quality build, looking forward to this one's conclusion
 15.
I make a newbie mistake Received the Schaller BMFL tuners but the mounting plates are to big for my headstock, now i don´t now if the BM series (same price as BMFL) suit or I must order the M4S series but the M4S is almost double price. So I am in the meddle of the bridge sort of speak. newbie
As i have already said, you could try seeing if the hipshot ultralite tuners would work? They're quite expensive too unfortunately though. Sorry man.
 16.
It is.... for me
Ahh ok thought so. I was going to buy it but then i thought that it was a bit of a gamble in terms of the amount of money i was going to spend getting it fixed.
 17. That sounds quite familiar. I thought that particular bass amp was on hold?
 18.
Fantastic! Nice work! Hmm,maybe we should be looking at the posibility of a forum for interviews, like the reviews section?
I was going to say i thought this should be in the reviews section
 19.
What make were the replacement valves? They aren't all created equal, and there seem to be some 'nameless' types finding their way onto ebay from China. If you get a choice, JJs are my favourite current manufactured valve.
I got some peavey valves. The amp still didn't work after i put them in but inexplicably it seems to be working just fine now! I really don't get it. Maybe a bad solder join or something?
 20.
Is the cab still for sale? I'm new to this site and can't see how I contact you
Where a person's name is, if you click on it there is a little drop down menu and on there it will have a link saying "send message".
 21.
Brilliant thread EH. I've been following it for a while now. The furthest I would have got is to have drawn out a shoddy outline of a bass I might like (although it wouldn't have looked even close) and then thrown said drawing in the back of a draw with my 'dreams' and to-do list. All power to your power tools.
Thanks Marvin. I must say i do have an ever growing list of things i am yet to achieve myself.
 22. here is a nice little audio recording of this bass. It does sound pretty good, even if the paintwork is really shoddy. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=94188
