1.
The Bassist from Hi Standard uses ESP Basses and (IMO) they're one of the best pop punk bands ever formed. They make nice noises Chris
Loads of bands play ESP basses. okay fair enough a lot of them are LTDs but i mean i think that shows just how good even the more inexpensive models are.
2. ESP make pretty awesome guitars and basses. I was lucky enough to own an LTD guitar which i stupidly sold last year and it was seriously sexier than my girlfriend
3. I dunno if i could stand having 3 sunburst fender basses but hell i mean if it works for you then that's the important thing at least.
4. What a nice looker of a bass mate.
5.
260 quid or so, apparently. Headstock spoils it for me.
That's what i'm not liking about it. It kind of just looks like they got a jazz bass neck and shoved it on an acoustic body. If i wanted an acoustic bass to mess around on i'd probably get a harley benton bass. edit: oh you did say it had a jazz bass neck. Sorry.
6. I tuned my 5 string bass to be ADGCF because i like having the 2 extra lower notes without the annoying shape changes like with drop tuning. Sadly that "hammering between the open low dring and random frets as quickly as i can" forms the basis of many modern metal songs these days. It can be quite irritating trying to do that but as for the tuning i think it is pretty good for the aformentioned reasons.
7. They're looking quite good, swamp ash is always a nice thing.
8.
I can't stand Fender basses (Fender Guitars however are fantastic..... hmmm strange) but this is beautiful....... Is it me or does the string spacing between the A and the D seem wider than the others?? J
I think the A string is not quite sitting in the right place on the bridge.
9. one thing i would say is that you're probably putting more pressure on the neck if you have those extra strings so you might need to possibly beef up the neck which isn't an easy job but it is possible.
10. It does look really rather awesome.
11.
My GF has found out that she is worth a bit of cash and wants me to sell her so she is now known as "Betty boob job" but id rather Betty than plastic Boobies lol !!! any day lol
I suppose it's going to have to be a choice between the bass and the girlfriend now. I know which one i would choose. I like it. I recently got a new bass that is unforturnately a bit banged up (FEEL FREE TO COMMENT A BIT FURTHER DOWN THE PAGE ANYONE!!!) but y'know a bit of mojo is always good lolz.
12. EH used to own a shine 5 string bass like that except it had closed cover jazz and MM style pickups and it was blue. It's a nice bass to try out 5 strings on methinks. Nice rig overall.
13. Those slab sided don't really look my thing, i guess it is quite interesting though.
14. This is my lovely new peavey international series 5 string bass. It's sadly a bit banged up but in all honesty i think that's probably why it was only £135. I really needed a nice cheap bass to have 5 strings (don't believe anyone who says nobody needs more than 4 strings trust me) so this fit that pretty much. I'm in the middle of changing out the electronics for actives which is why the knobs are different, in fact one of the original knobs was missing when i got it and had been replaced with a shiny chrome knob rather than the satin chrome like the others. this was me last night, i had a haircut and an earplug done today lolz. Also here is a pretty bad and really old shot of my old bass, maybe get some more up if i can find any better 1s. Apologies if there has been another thread like this but if there is then i haven't seen it.
15. That is one awesome looking bass.
16. Very nice looking thing you got there, certainly not your average run of the mill bass that's for sure lolz.
17. Are those pod X3 pros any good? They seemed like a bit of a rip off to me but i suppose if you think they're good then that's the important thing.
18. From the sounds of it you will be a bass player in no time lolz. I agree with looking at second hand peavey gear, they're pretty good. I sold one to my friend a few months ago and i'm looking at getting another one now, they're pretty good.
19. Nice bass man, not seen one of these before. Any more pics?
20. Hello there. I live in bev which as you may know is a few miles due north of your location. Sorry for the shameless plug everyone but i see your plight about a decent sounding and relatively inexpensive musicman style pickup am selling an EMG MMTW pickup which is a musicman style humbucker and pretty nice and punchy for £45 + shipping which probably wouldn't be that expensive lolz. PM if you're interested. Otherwise if you're looking for a very cheap MM style pickup then hull's very own axesrus sell one for £21: http://www.axesrus.com/AxeBassPup.html now i'm not just saying this but the EMG MMTW sells for over £70 new so although it's a bit more expensive you are getting a lot more pickup for the money. I mean don't get me wrong though, i did buy one of the cheaper axesrus pickups and i thought it was okay actually. one other thing to consider though is that EMGs are also easier to wire up if you're not experienced with the electronics. As for shuker basses i wouldn't know myself but they are custom so i think it's unlikely you wouldn't like the sound of it, plus they are yorksire made which is always a plus EH.
21. Also the fender mark hoppus jazz bass is a JP bass, but it only has the P pickup. I also personally prefer the look of the other 2. The RH comes in a 5 string version as well which i like the look of:
22. ^it's probably a good idea, i always find they're better as instruments than their financial value.
Why are you screwing with this guy's thread? Please communicate these sentiments by PM as the rules require! And please delete your post!
Fine w/e.
