1. Haha i love how the "travel bass" is bigger than almost every electric bass guitar around. It's not exactly something i would stick in my hand luggage but i suppose i'm just not in the right spirit of things eh? I did try picking up the DB ages ago but i could never get my head round to practicing it, maybe i'll get one when i'm older or something.
2. Looks really proper amazing mate. Hope all the best for your bass playing and general well being in the future as well mate, EH.
3. I really like this pickup. Unforturnately i got a new Jazz body and i don't really want to mess around with modifying the pickup cavity to fit it which is why i'm selling it. Conditionwise it's pretty good. It's been fitted before so it's not exactly as new but really it's in pretty good nick. Comes with all the accessories including volume pot, wiring and a new battery clip. Plus a tone pot, black mounting screws and also an input jack as well as the knobs, which are not pictured. These go for around £70 new, i'm asking for £45 plus delivery to the UK, northern ireland, europe, wherever really. Thanks EH
4.
I don't blame you for spending your cash on what really matters - your equipment. Anything else is a bonus. Presumably your neighbours are either deaf, like your music or can't hear you.
Well there was some old gyser who made a bit of a fuss but now i'm not in a band and since i did the windows i think he's shut up now.
5.
For decent soundproofing build a infill panel using plasterboard bothsides (SoundBloc if you can) on a timber batten framework with Rockwool acoustic slab insulation in between. Put some foam pipe insulation around the perimeter to elimiate any gaps. It's removable if the window isn't too big, just add some handles onto the face. Acrylic sheet won't do much - it's density and absorbant qualities you want. Also, for the record egg boxes only cut down on reverberation and do not soundproof. Your window looks like a dormer, so could be fun. (I work in architecture I must confess). I've had to soundproof a large single glazed window and a door to a lean-to room in our house as our son has started drumming!! He still has to use dampening pads, especially when the rest of the band come around. The calls from the neighbours have stopped now.
nice. Unforturnately you have made one erronious assumption, that is the assumption that i have loads of money. Y'know if i did have loadsamoney then i'd have done a much better job of it but as it is i didn't.
6. I think it's just one of those things you have to get used to. Let's face it, most bassists think a stingray is a bit "out there" compared to your average fender lolz. It's not my favourite shape personally but i can imagine it being quite comfortable to play.
7. Nice build, looks like this will be a beautiful bass.
8. This is really sad. My dad is dyslexic and he had to re-sit year 6 b/c of it. As has already been said, it must be a terrible condition to have in this age of written communication. I mean my handwriting is terrible but at least that doesn't matter when i'm on a computer, and not just that either but reading too. I simply can't imagine my life without being able to actually enjoy reading. Sadly, some people just don't understand how others feel and they will do it for kicks, they probaby never thought that he would actually do something like this (well i hope they didn't, from some of the things i've seen people say to others over the internet you can't be sure if some people really think others deserve to die for being different). Life is what you make of it and unforturnately when you get into that state of depression it's very difficult to get out of it again. It's always the best people who think they're the worst sadly. Well anyway MHDSRIP and sorry to hear about your loss but you should be lucky to have known him at all as i always say.
9. The 3rd photo looks like he cut a hole in his floor into his kitchen or something lolz. I think it looks okay really. Certainly a bit more exciting then your average jazzer. (Yes i did just say that, please don't shoot me!)
10. as you lot probably know by now i had to sell my SWR. So i cobbled this shizz up to potter around on in my bedroom and that: It's just a hifi, a mic preamp and some pc speakers. Maybe not the best setup but w/e it'll do for now at least. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy life to see this thread anyway. EH.
11.
Mo Clifton is better known for his electric uprights, but he makes bass guitars too...
And really rather amazing ones at that! The travel bass looks nice for pottering around on when you're bored on holiday but my favourite out of the 3 has to be the headless monster on the right. Looks like a really nice player.
12. nice. What a great idea for a production though. I'm surprised no-one has thought of it before to be honest lolz.
13.
and... we will return to regularly scheduled programming right after this short break...!
Sounds gr8
14.
No, under UK Ebay regs he can't. However it looks like he's advertising this on US Ebay, not UK (the price is in dollars), and Ebay regulations for Septics are nothing like as punitive & extortionate as they are here. Oh & he's a dealer - check out his other listings. He's been tying to punt this for more than a year - I've noticed it coming up in my searches over & over again. J.
I think it's because if you're a dealer you get a lot of "privelages" for selling a lot of stuff and therefore filling up ebay's coffers.
15.
Jeesus mate what exactly qualifies you to blast into a thread like this and comment? The drumming on the tracks I listened to was unwavering and totally consistent... My qualifications? well I've been a pro player for 20 yrs have worked in studios all over the country (including AIR which is mentioned on the myspace) and played with some world class musicians including drummers. I just don't get the reasoning you're using to say what you are about the drumming. I can only assume that you are 1) in a class all your own or 2) talking without any real grasp of the subject with any objectivity. Which is it? If your views are entirely subjective (ie you just don't like it) then I would think it best if you save those views for another thread, like those that ramble on in off topic. These comments I'm afraid are just not helpful to a very interesting studio build thread.
Mate, i was just teasing okay? Jebus, you're taking something that was supposed to be a joke (hence smilies and "lolz") far too seriously. What you hear on a track might not nesicerally be what someone else hears. You probably were not listening out for the consistency of the timing. Also no i don't think i'm the best drummer in the world i never said i did. but i think i am sufficiently qualified in drumming to be able to hear for how good their timing is. I'm really sorry if the way i interpreted the recordings offend you but at the end of the day as i say you obviously heard it differently to me. Everyone is different, after all.
16.
I have a nice 92 Jazz.
good for you
17. It would be unforturnate if you were born before 1951 then lolz. Mind you, i doubt there would be much exciting from 1991 though. I might be interested in getting a nice peavey or something from that era maybe?
18.
what I believe may be one of the best drum rooms in the country
Even if you do say so yourself! lolz seriously nice recordings though, although i don't think the drumming was exactly first class, sorry.
19.
Old home studio New House first studio Analogue Heavy Current Home Studio
too many basses, not enough strings oj very nice setup, i'm jeallous.
20. Listen mate there is a b/c market place forum which you might have a bit better luck selling if you post this lovely thing in there
21. What a great 7th birthday present! lolz
22. Top buyer, quick and fuss free transaction and he also came prepared, which is always good.
23.
Thanks for helping out with the english language! We swedes all think we speak english fluently.... And yes, I should have left it as ir was after the first round, I agree... But I just HAD to keep going... I´m taking this as one lession out of hopefully many. One of these days I´ll try relicing a body that doesnt cost like one weeks ration of Red Bull, and I´ll hopefully will know what to do or not to do then. I kind of like it the way it is now though, I´ll try the teabag-trick this weekend if I get the time, that will probably make some difference in the appearance of the body.
I think most northern europeaners speak a pretty good degree of english. Better than some people in england anyway lolz. I had many a lesson in what not to do in bass construction/modification, if you learn something then it's all good
24. Evidentely, i think the idea to change the pots which control the settings from trim pots to exterior ones with knobs was probably a good one. Nonetheless looks like a nice bit of kit, pretty good money for it too. Any chance of SCs?
