Just thought I would post a pic of my new tattoo :-)

I haven't tried that model of Sandberg, but my current bass is the Sandberg California TT Umbo with haussel pick ups, and I A B'd it with an American Jazz at Pmt in Bristol and the Build quality, sound and feel was leagues better with the Sanberg. But I would say that it's a very personal thing and I'm sure a Fender fan will soon come along and say the opposite. Sandberg = German hand built, absolute quality craftsmanship and parts.

SOLD - Hiscox Bass Hard Case

It's a totally passive bass, no active electronics. The switchable pre sets are for mids to give the Jaco sound, not that would influence me, however in the bypass mode the tonal qualities are fantastic :-)

Bought this lovely bass a couple of months ago from this site here is the original link: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1465208 The previous advert says it all, the only modification is that it has Hipshot Tuners, which a lot of people prefer as more accurate. Also had new set of strings put on couple of weeks ago.. It comes with a Fender Gigbag. I have fallen for a Sandberg Bass hence why I am selling the Bass. Price wise I am looking for what I paid for it. SOLD. Being a studio owner I can see both sides of the story so to speak. I can understand your frustration regarding hiring equipment etc. I charge £5 to hire a guitar or bass amp per rehearsal. I could not afford to put high quality amps to hire as I find that not all musicians respect the equipment and in some cases almost abuse it, thankfully not too many and those that do get to learn by there ways, on average I get through numerous drum stands, drum seats etc due to over tightening, cross threading, general wear and tear. If you appreciate a rehearsal I charge £25 inc pa mics stands and drum kit, I run a financially tight ship, so virtually run at a loss from a rehearsal booking perspective. There are numerous threads about kit sharing nightmares, it's exactly the same with amp hirage it's a gamble each time you hire them out. Anyway, I hire out a trace Elliot 100 watt 15" combo it competes with most metal bands etc, and have never had any complaints that it's under powered. I know it's may be frustrating, but see it from the studios perspective as well. On the other hand, the studio financially runs better generally daytimes and weekends as a recording studio. When I record, I am always happy lending bassists my rig to record at the studio without charge :-)

I do think there could have been some form of gesture other than £50. I wasn't expecting him to price match. But I do have to ask, are the price match promises selective or not? Like I said ime not questioning this specific item as that would be unfair. So, if a company publicly quote price promise, should they not stand by there statement?

Went to Pmt Bristol yesterday as its my 50th Birthday in couple of weeks time I thought I would have a look to see if anything took my fancy as the wife has been nagging me to find something I want. Naturally went straight to the basses looking at the Fenders. The manager who I've known for many years greeted me and and said, don't look at the fenders look at the sandbergs, which I did and did some a b comparisons, and one bass took my fancy, it was a sandberg California umbo 4 string. Now I generally get good prices from the manager, primarily because I have spent thousands with them, sound control etc through my studio. Anyway to cut to the chase if offered it to me with only a £50 at £1249. I said I would get back to him. When I got home I did an Internet search and found one at £869 clearance in stock else where, I then went back to pmt and gave him the opportunity to reduce his price or price match to which he responded: Hi Ade, I have looked and yes they have it at a stupid less than cost clearance price. I can't match the price at a huge loss obviously. Anyway I'm not working today or tomorrow so will have to leave it with you to buy it from who every you feel has given you the best advice/ service etc. Cheers mate. Catch you soon. My thoughts are mixed, on the one hand he should price match, but it is a hell of a reduction, however not even an attempt to reduce his price. What are your thoughts? Price promise ? Is it just a way to make people think they are buying at the best price?

I saw a recent ad on the for sale section recently, where a BC'er was selling a bass to fund his bands demo recording and it got me thinking. Being a BC'er myself and owner of a music rehearsal and recording studio in Bristol I would like to highlight my facility www.barkingdogstudios.co.uk my rates are good already, however I am also open to basses, bass amps etc in exchange for demo recording etc. So please pm me if you have an enquiry. All the best Ade

To be fair, I couldn't give a hoot on what people think on my playing ability, what's important to me is, playing in front of people and seeing the response of the audience to the collective musicians playing,, seeing people dancing and enjoying the set, no matter how big or small the venue is, is the best feeling ever as a musician.
