@Baloney Balderdashwould the 51 p bass pickup be the incorrect spacing for a short scale though? Guitar pickup: should it be bridge , middle or neck or does it matter much in this case? -

Any tips for a Bronco bass (Squier) replacement pickup? Heaps of info out there I know, but a lot from the 00s. I will most likely get the wiring upgrade kit, but not sure if I would go 130 quid for the McNelly pickup. Anything cheaper but geared for bass? (HB or single coul even). Strat pickups work obvously. I do have a JB Junior neck p90 pickup for a strat, but no idea how that would sound on a bass... -

@Obrienp I think I will just look at a pickup and wiring upgrade then and won't fiddle around with the bridge. Not really worth pumping a lot of money into it. I do have a short bridge for a bass lying around, which I swear I bought for the Bronco way back, but not sure of the spacing. -

Hi folks. I picked up the same Squier Bronco bass I sold a year or so ago by chance. I had planned to upgrade the pickup and maybe the bridge, so asking again! I already have replacement tuners, and may stain the neck with linseed oil or similar. Would a 34" scale single coil pickup fit, or would there be a spacing issue so better to replace with a drop in pickup? Any cheap bridge that would be an upgrade on the stock one? Same with the nut. Anything here? Thanks! -

I would guess the longscale bass would have some neck dive. Fat Mike of NOFX plays a long scale, which is a bass I wouldn't associate with punk music. Yeah, I have noticed prices have risen on Danos in the last few years. -

@msb I definitely prefer the 59 look v the Longhorn, but the LH sounds really nice. I have been tempted by the long scale 59 bass. The few demos out there, it sounds ok, and looks unique. I had a few of their guitars. Supposed to be "stinky poo", but great fun and great sounding. Hopeing to get a 59 guitar again. -
Thanks folks. It's the PJ config I would be looking at though.

Hi guys. I am thinking of unleashing my inner Mike Inez (Alice in Chains). I've seen some good deals at the moment on the Performer 4 and the Legend 4. One is made in Indonesia, the other in Korea. The Indo one has a reverse P config, the Korean Legend one doesn't. I've seen some demos that suggest both models could do with a pickup and electronics upgrade. Apart from the finishes, any suggestions of one v the other?

I had the special I think it was called, a few years ago. Black with the thin finish. Sold it but am tempted to get the standard again. I have the EB0 Epiphone with flat wounds, an upgraded pickup and brass nut and its a brilliant little thing so maybe the SG would be a waste of a purchase! -

Bought an SG bass off the Cranberries drummer a few years ago. -
Will soon be down to just a P bass from parts and an Epi SG slightly with flatwounds. Will have a Travis Bean style aluminium neck short scale bass in the new year, but will be selling it as soon as I get it for funds.

Any idea what those two pickup lawsuit SG basses are like? Burny, Columbus etc? -

Hi all, I hope this is the right section. Long time no post. Looking around at some modern P bass pickups. Kicking around the Lace Sensor, DiMarzios or Kent Armstrong Hot P bass pickups. Anyone got any experience of the Lace ones? In the demo video, they sound really punchy, but I won't post the video link, as I have to take into account the guitar and amps used. Big old Oranges and big old cabs! They might be way too hot though....

I might just go 34”, it doesn’t **have** to be a short scale. -

EXTREMELY long time no post. Anyone here tune their short scale bass to standard D (often to dropped C). I am toying with the idea of picking up another short scale in standard D, but feel a 34" might be less hassle with floppy strings. -
