  1. Since I bought my first SC from Merton, in 2015 (!), most of my gigs have been played with various BF 112's. They are the cabs I grab first. Both One10's are set up at home for practice. Even at low volume they sound so good in my front room. These guys will be the last ones I'll sell.
  2. I have those cabs, plus a Super Midget. Last year I sold my second SC and both Two10's. They just weren't being played enough to warrant keeping them. Briefly I was up to 7 cabs!
  3. I prefer heavier gauges. I currently have D'Addario 45-130 NYXL's on my Jazz bass and TI 43-118 flats on my P bass.
  4. Hi, are you the guy with the Mothman bass?
  5. Never say never, but I reckon I'm done. My gig rig is a Sadowsky bass, an Aguilar amp and Barefaced cabs. My back-up rig is a Mike Lull bass, Thunderfunk amp and different Barefaced cabs. My home practice rig is either bass, a different Aguilar amp and yet more Barefaced cabs. I've spent more on lessons in the last few years than gear. That's where my GAS is.
  6. That is a very pretty and elegant looking bass.
  7. I don't think any manufacturer is going to do that. Press reviews and relating personal experience on the internet does a much better job of providing this level of information.
  8. You can cheat and slow the YouTube video down. After it's in your head at that speed you can switch up to normal speed. I'd start at normal speed and just play the root notes. It's a 2 bar pattern so after you get comfortable with just the root notes you could progress to playing octaves in the first bar and roots in the second bar. When that comes easily switch it around and put the root notes into the first bar and the octaves into the second bar. When you're comfortable put octaves into both bars. It's a very simple line, but the octaves and speed make it tricky. You'll get it when your muscle memory works without having to think about your fingers. That'll take time.
  9. Teddy Bears have never had a picnic in the woods.
  10. You're right, it's a white strat with silver pick guard.
  11. I'd say we were arguing about opinions. . . . . . . but I'm not going to.
  12. I agree that many of the songs recorded in the 80's could be improved by remixing them and taking away all the silly effects, like the awful drum sounds that were so "cool" back then and IMO ruined many a great track.
  13. Robert Palmer and Tina Turner put out some great music in the 80's. As did Talking Heads, Springsteen, Bowie, Paul Simon, Prince, Peter Gabriel the list goes on. . . . . . . .
  14. I have to agree with them. Playing in shorts and sandals is hardly ever a pretty sight. Look at yourself in the mirror and just say, nooooooooo!
  15. There are YouTube videos about repairing dents in guitars. A popular method seems to be to use super glue to fill the hole and then very carefully to sand down using progressively finer paper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTVScFJoe24
  16. Take everything off the area to be painted. Trying to paint around things won't work as well.
  17. In the early 70's, before their very first tour, Queen did some warm up gigs. One of which was at the Windsor Castle in the Harrow Road. They brought along their whole touring rig and there was hardly room for the audience.
  18. In Sydney, Oz, in the lase 70's there was a band called Free Beer. They upset so many landlords because punters thought the pub was giving the beer away. To keep being booked they had to change their name and became The Free Beer Band.
  19. I believe Nile Rogers has used his sliver strat for the last 30 something years.
  20. I've tried stringing through the body with an old Precision and a Lakland and I didn't notice a difference to the sound of either bass.
  21. Status Quo were called Traffic until that Steve Winwood guy came along!!
