  1. All good advice. Sell the bass and get something you can stand up and play for at least 2 hours in comfort.
  2. I can't find the article I was reading or any other info, so I guess I've misremembered that.
  3. This. It has to sound good, feel good and look good. If you can't make those decisions. . . walk away. They are not for you. Wait until you find a bass that you "know" ticks those boxes.
  4. My first 5 string was an SR5 with a one piece maple neck and f/b. I didn't get on with the sharp edges. I prefer a fret board with rolled edges, which you get with the rosewood. .
  5. Then try the Deep Talking 1954 strings.
  6. It's a holiday. Go and do holiday stuff. Make sure you practice enough before you go.
  7. No and yes! If the band is worth it put as much effort in as you can. Don't worry about the others. Do your bit. "Adjustments" can be made later.
  8. She was just seventeen You know what I mean Sheer poetry.
  9. Banning songs in the radio is pointless and ineffective censorship. It brings more attention and success and is a comment on the sensibilities of the censor rather than the song. After about 55 years of broadcasting, I believe these days Walk On The Wild Side is "banned".
  10. Nice one steviebk.
  11. A player who I regularly dep for has an RH750, RS210 and RS112 stack. He was using a Genz Benz 610 and GBE 1200 prior to this. I was surprised he went for something as small as the TC but it works. He's still the loudest player anyone around here knows and gets a big, big sound as well. I used an RH750 with my Berg cabs. Sounded great I only sold it because I bought my Thunderfunk.
  12. What great playing. Thanks for posting.
  13. Fabulous playing from everyone. Thanks for posting.
  14. I've just found out George Hawins Jr died. He was a fantastic bass player. Started in California and was with Kenny Loggins in the early days. He'd moved to Nashville when I first heard him, playing with Delbert McClinton on the Live album. I got goose-bumps again. . just listen to this shuffle!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDLGIPw3chE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8SSdyflGN4
  15. A know a couple of these guys, but most I've not heard about. https://www.knowyourbassplayer.com

  16. Sorry. I'm not expert on this stuff. So far all my problems have been dealt with by getting a lighter bass and, when flaring up, sitting on a bar stool.
  17. See your Doctor. If he advises it see a Physio. Start a system of light exercises to strengthen your upper body. Get a longer strap and hold the bass in a more up right position, so your arm is less extended. But everything follows from the results of your visit to the Doc.
  18. I gave up trying to turn bass playing into a living and I was only after tens of thousands of pounds. That was tough enough, but if Scott can turn his bass playing into an enterprise worth millions of pounds then he gets all the respect from me.
  19. I borrowed a clip on tuner and found that, on a noisy stage in a noisy club, it picked up too many vibrations from the room and couldn't identify the bass notes clearly enough. I don't know if that is common situation with all of them.
  20. It's a multi million pound business and he needs someone with business acumen to run and grow his company. The ad seems to be talking to that person. Sensible move if you ask me.
  21. It's not a lesson. It's a chat, demonstration of techniques and a question and answer evening.
  22. I've tried to polish truds too. It never works! But you're right, give the guy a sound that needs a phd in sound management and he's not being paid enough to bother.
  23. IMO the way to get the best FOH sound is to start with a good sound, one that the sound guy can easily deal with. After that, fingers crossed, you have an engineer that knows and cares. I don't do multi band gigs so when I have FOH the sound guy has time to get it right for us. I don't use any pedals, give the sound man post-EQ and 8 in the bar ZZ Top pumping bass on G or C for about 6 bars. So far that's kept them happy.
  24. Wallace amps were great. I didn't see many in use and never saw one for sale but they were certainly loved by their owners.
  25. I use 2 Barefaced One10's when I play at home. I use one of my regular 800 watt amps, Aguilar or Thunderfunk. I get a good sound with good gear even at very low volumes. My next door neighbour sits in the room next to where I am and hasn't mentioned bass playing yet.
