  1. Turn the gain down, turn the bass down, join a louder band. Do you have a pedal boosting your volume? Was this gig a quiet gig? If your other gigs are louder then this amp might work, otherwise, as good as it sounds, seems like you have an amp for a louder band. Buy a smaller amp for gigs like this and use the louder head when you can.
  2. It doesn't. . . . and it isn't "baloney". The comments about "size" have been made in relation to bass rigs. This comment is being made in relation to PA systems. These represent different requirements, criteria and solutions.
  3. Yes. As long as they're not whispering.
  4. I use PRO17's. Personally I wouldn't go for any lesser protection than that.
  5. My current 12's produce fantastic low mids which is what our bass rigs are designed to do best. Don't confuse the name of the instrument with a range of frequencies.
  6. Most pickups in active systems are passive, so you can easily convert any bass from active to passive and vice versa, but why would you? What problem would you be fixing?
  7. The switchs are fitted as a matter of course these days. It's now called the Two10S, I got BF to add the switch to my first 210.
  8. The Barefaced Two10 also has a switch on the back. It is just another step in the set up. Plug in the speaker cables and then make sure the switch is correctly set. I use 4 ohm, 2.67 ohm and 2 ohm amps. It's just a simple thing to check I'm using the correct amp with the cabs I want to use that night.
  9. IMO most amps would work ell with your cab. I use Aguilar AG700, TH500 and Thunderfunk amps with my BF cabs. Always a top quality sound.
  10. If you can't see the bass the audience can't see you! Never mind LED's, sounds like the band should be setting up stage lights of some description.
  11. Nothing has changed. The guys who wanted and/or needed to play P basses always did. The guys who pick basses because of a "trend" didn't affect those who wanted the P bass sound. I've owned a P bass since 1968 and have owned active Jazz style basses since the late 90's. I didn't even know J and P basses were going in or out of fashion during that time! If the P bass is a "trend" guys those guys will probably be off on another fad soon and people like me will still be rocking the basses we've always used.
  12. Maybe Available immediately means they will add you to the queue.
  13. Scott Edwards is another name from 70's and 80's. Check him out. His work will be instantly familiar. http://scottedwardsmusic.com/favorite.htm
  14. Henry E Davis, another new name to put to some very familiar bass playing. Thanks for posting this.
  15. We are all trying to get through our lives with the least hassle and some are fussier about "stuff" than others. It's a first world problem, but why not try to be as comfortable as we can? I flew off to a series of gigs where I was lent a 5 string bass. When I got there I found it was a Yamaha something-or-other. I played it that night and discovered it was around 15mm-16mm! I had never thought about this before, all my basses were Fender-ish and in 30 years the subject of string spacing had never occurred to me. I had 4 gigs in 3 days and was just about OK by the last gig. That's when I discovered I can play a song without even knowing the chords but this one small difference was enough to ruin my day!
  16. If you go back through the annals of "disposable pop" songs you'll mostly find strong performances from all the instruments and high production values. Those guys weren't fooling around. They were at the top of their game and proving it every day of their working lives

  18. I don't know what was being used this time, but, in the past, with SD, Freddie Washington has used his old P bass with Badass and Bartolini mods.
  19. The SM is a 12" + Tweeter cab. I also have 2 SC's and still use them where I need big low end, ie Reggae gigs, but I like the addition of a tweeter.
  20. For most gigs my current Barefaced rig is a Super Compact and a Super Midget. That covers everything I need to do.
  21. Do I have to choose? I'd pick anything by Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and Mark Ronson.
  22. Yes. The only thing I insist on is either 18mm or 19mm at the bridge. So far I haven't met a scale, neck shape or nut width etc that is a show stopper. For some reason, only that bridge measurement matters!
  23. I bought the Reeling In The Years single in 1973!! That's nearer 45 years!!
  24. As long as they are all in the right order. . . . good luck.
  25. Video #1. . . 15 mins of common sense. Specifically about the music business but most points would be reverent to success in many other jobs and careers.
