Self belief gets you into your first band. Getting better moves you into the next band, and so on. Joining the best bands depends on who you meet. IME you never really know, but you should never stop striving to be better.

JA's comments were in relation to the largely chambered, ie hollow, body of the Sadowsky. US Lakland's are not heavy basses.

I think the OP has covered that. His problem occurs at higher volume levels. The power of the amp is irrelevant. The Traveller is OK at low volume and runs out of power when volume is turned up. That is what you'd expect with a cab that is basically under powered because it is too small to work on its own at high volume. Two cabs would be one answer (but IMO probably not the 115 that the OP is looking at).

Realistically the 102P cannot put out 400 watts. It will probably reach its maximum volume at less than 200 watts. There is a Barefaced Super Compact (gen3) in the classifieds for £450. That cab would cover more than an MB Traveller 210 and the proposed 115 can do.

Dislike? Anything pointy. Sparkle paint jobs. Other than that, everything else is on the table.

Band gear is left outside in vans and cars all around the world, so cold and heat shouldn't be a problem. Car stereo systems are always in hot and cold extremes and always work. The only thing I'd suggest would be bad is condensation. As long as there is no damp and you keep the gear covered, you should be OK.

Hi Dave, I'd stick with the 2 Two10's. I used mine for the first time on a "quieter" gig last weekend and they came through with flying colours. I used my AG700 and they handled the 5 string with ease. I also have a 4 ohm Two10 which I've used with a One10's and they sounded very good together. A Three10 for more volume and depth in the tone.

The amp might be the problem but whether the amp is good or not, IMO your cab is the weakest link in this rig. You need to move more air and the Traveller cab is just too small to do enough in that department. If you want to stay with Mark Bass get an MB Standard 102 HF to daisy chain with this cab and see what the amp does then. I'd stick with 10's and run 2 cabs for a better focussed sound and maybe try using the amp in stereo rather than bridged. I wonder what made you go down this unusual route with your bass gear.

I didn't know TK played a Lakland bass. He's renown for only playing Sadowsky basses. Stray or deflection, he's a lucky chap to be playing this one that night. As JA says, solid body with no chambering as the NYC Sadowskys are.

You can see printed on the back of this amp, by the speaker outputs 4 ohm minimum. That means you can run either 1 or 2 8 ohm cabs or 1 4 ohm cab.

Mine has a killer sound as well. The MetroExpress range is supposed to be fitted with the regular pickups and preamp, the same ones used in the NYC basses, so (hopefully) there should be little difference in the sound. With the guaranteed weight being less than 9 lbs I'll be very interested to try one out.

I'd say you don't need this bass then.

When you get to the point where your bass isn't holding your attention. . . . upgrade it for one that does.

I used Dunlop 65 polish on mine. They cleaned up pretty well.

I have bought all sorts of strings in the past, but these days I always make sure I use the strings that make me sound the best I can sound. IMO a good set is less than a gig's worth so don't sound less than your best for the sake of a couple of quid. I have tried other rounds but I keep coming back to either DR Lo-Rider or Hi-Beams and TI are the best flats I've heard so I'm using a set of those.

Blue, you're good. I believe the question I was answering was, can you get 4 ohms out of an amp by using 2 cables from both outputs on the amp into both inputs on an 8 ohm cab cab.

More drivers can mean more volume and better tone, but it really depends on the design of the drivers and the cab. I thought we were in 410 territory, but if you're up for a BT2 then IMO there aren't many cabs out there that will be able to compete with one of those.

It depends on how sensitive the new cab is. You could probably go a little louder without distorting your sound but (as Lozz says, depends on your choice and the rating of the cab). You might also find another cab that gives you a better tone, but the difference between 500 and 800 watts will not be as much as you expect. Won't be a 50% increase in volume. I used to own an Epifani 410 rated at 1000w and I still needed to add a 210 in one of my bands to get enough volume for the mad guitarist. You can add a 210 to your 410 which will give you more volume and tone. Just remember to keep to within the spec of the 210, ie don't over drive the smaller cab. That's still 2 cabs and is probably the cheaper solution to your problem. But if pure volume from a single cab is your requirement. . . . then the cab I was referring to in my previous post was the Barefaced Four10. That is the only 410 that I know that will get close to an 810 is terms of clean volume. I have the Two10 and they sound pretty good.
