Had a chat with Harry Secombe, in the green room at Midem, after he saw the sax player in my band tip a whole pint into his (the sax player's) lap. Very amusing guy. Harry Secombe, not the sax player!
While it's obviously not mandatory, reading the dots and understanding the basics of musical theory is a good skill for a musician to have.
It's the difference between just talking and talking and reading and writing as well.
I agree.
I don't see the point of owning gear that isn't going to be used.
IMO it's a better plan, with more satisfying results, to put all your money into 2 fantastic, rather than 6 medium priced, instruments.
You're lucky you've got sides on it!
I've also done gigs with 2 small marquees pushed together. That meant the rain ran through the join and on to the drum kit!
My recreational listening is Radio 4. My music listening is mostly centred around set lists and homework for upcoming gigs and the occasional video I discover on YouTube.
I'm not a music fan, I'm a making music in a band in front of an audience fan.
£50 polymer notes are fine. . . . tilt the note side to side and the hologram should say "Fifty" and "Pounds". There are something like half a dozen more features on a £50 that indicate it is genuine.
In certain styles of music time can drift a little. A few bpm here and there. That's not the same as speeding up or slowing down! But while the drummer usually gets the job. . . . It's actually everyone's responsibility to be playing in time.
Yawn, the usual dog-whistle nonsense. . . . KR gave a personal opinion in an interview. Shock horror. . . . .
As usual people are lining up to give him a kicking because he is old, famous, successful and has a view on something.
This.
I either run a 500 or 700watt amp into 1400watts of cabs. Even with a 5 string bass at volume there is zero chance I'm going to damage the drivers, or sound bad by over driving the amp.
Easy.
Raise the pickups until you can hear them being hit by the strings when you play hard.
Then lower them until they are not being hit by the strings.
Twas also the night of the slightly annoying umbrella incident that took place out side the Wimpey in Ealing Broadway. Who could ever forget that debacle.
