  1. Firefox, with duck duck go.
  2. I grew up when the choice was a Precision and a Jazz bass. Over the years I've owned a few others (Wal, Lakland, MM, Ibanez). The list of basses I haven't tried is long and uninteresting. I'm more than happy to be back with P and J basses.
  3. Thanks for that @lowdown but when FB is stopped, for any reason, when it starts up again FBP doesn't come up with it, and I have to re-install. Is there a way of making this happen automatically?
  4. I'm probably missing something, but is there any way to pin FBP so it's active when FB starts up? So far it doesn't come up with FB and I have to re-install every time.
  5. If I have more than 3 of anything that's too much gear. Right now I have too many basses (5), too many amps (4) and too many cabs (5).
  6. Getting nit-picky. . . . according to Labella, Jamerson and Duck Dunn used the 0760M Deep Talkin’ Bass, 1954 “Original” Style strings.
  7. To all the guys who are fed up with the hassles brought to the table by band members. . . . choose better band members. I've played with hundreds of musicians, but I can't remember playing with anyone who was a "problem", or interfered with the running of the band. Some definitely has issues but they were professional enough to leave their problems at the door. They always gave 100% on the gig and to the band.
  8. Thanks guys. FBP now installed and, hopefully, working. Cheers
  9. Bob Glaub was being interviewed and he said the 42 year old flats on his Precision bass made it sound like a million dollars. So you have a way to go before you think about changing those strings.
  10. I chart most of the songs I have to learn. Then I play them until I remember them. I take the charts to gigs as a backup.
  11. I've been in bands run by autocratic and unpleasant dictators through to benevolent nice guys, but they all wanted the same thing, to make the decisions. If the band is good enough then I'm happy to play with any of those personality types and let them steer the ship. IMO I do one thing well and it's not organisation!!
  12. How do I do this? You're talking to an IT idiot here!!
  13. My (admittedly limited) experience of music college graduates. . . . they've learnt all the notes and they're going to use all of them. . . . all the time.
  14. I am very forgetful, so the only way I know I'm going to arrive at a gig with all my gear. . . . I'm the only one who packs it away after a gig, and I never unpack any of it at home.
  15. I had to lend my spare tuner to the guitarist on Saturday!
  16. Hi Guys, I used to be able to exclude Off Topic from my searches in one of the previous versions of the site software. Any way of doing that under the current software? Cheers
  17. All these "what's the point", and "it's a bass so technical brilliance is "showboating""!! comments are very disappointing. Bass is being progressed to new levels buy these guys, just like Mozart and JS Bach did for the piano and Paganini did for the violin. I can understand not liking what is being played but complaining that it is being played is absurd.
  18. It's a Cort GB35J. It's a pretty fair instrument for not a lot of cash. It plays well and others in the band have complimented it, but I can hear where they made the savings. The pickups are very one dimensional. I put some GHS flatwounds on and the sound improved a lot, but if I keep it, those pickups have to go.
  19. My favourite bass of all time is a Sadowsky RV5. Unfortunately it weighs 9lb 7oz (4.4kg). That's not a lot, but my back hasn't been able to take that weight for a couple of years. I work out, and while I'm fitter and healthier, it doesn't put the clock back in a way that will satisfy my back. Last year I bought a Sandberg TT5 SL (6lb 8oz), Ibanez (7lb) and Cort (7lb), and I'm still trying to work out which will take over as my #1. They are all light, feel good to play and my back is happy with all of them, but they don't have the sound I'm looking for. I bought a Sadowsky preamp pedal which only gets me half way there. IMO the Sandberg is the best of the bunch but I'll need to replace the pickups. Decisions, decisions!
  20. Some strange comments here. He is making a career out of music. He played in bands to fund his way through college. You only see one side of him on the internet. I don't like the playing of many successful bass players, but that's no reason to hate them. He's a bass player making a success out of playing bass. IMO there are no downsides in that. Good on him.
  21. Try moveable anchor for your thumb. You should be able to do both.
  22. They should get a dep and keep going.
