1. What's to stop someone making up a valid number (using the various number checkers available on the net)?
2. Always thought P's reminded me of wood/oak and Jazzes reminded me of iron/steel. Not the sound.... but impact.. if that makes sense. Hybrids?.... I always ended up on the neck pup.
3.
I prefer to set up on the left side of the stage (facing the audience) but it's more to do with the practicalities of wielding a large instrument rather than visual communication with the drummer. (edit) Interestingly because of the music we play, we find ourselves sharing the stage with a lot of bands using Double Bass. They nearly always set up on the right hand side of the stage.
Isn't that weird... exactly the same... especially the DB observation... which can be a pain if you're sharing backline!
4. All PMs replied to. Commiserations to Italy, but well done to Spain for an awesome performance.
5. From a mid '90s CIJ p-bass. No idea if they are the original factory fit pups, but from the look of the rubber pads, that would be about right.. *SOLD*
6. Wizard Thumpers - 6 - 9 months old. One owner... as new. £40 + postage. (Paypal gift) Part of my quest to find "my" pbass pickup ended with the Fender '62 pups, so these are up for grabs.
7. As the new owner of your orig tort plate, nice as the Freeman's are, your MIA looks much much nicer. Keep it.
8. Wow. You could buy one of these instead: http://www.ebay.co.u...8#ht_674wt_1270 .... and they're made of real wood.... (they are fab by the way)
9. They're pretty damn good - never bought instruments, but have bought plenty of other things (pick ups, strings, picks, stands, cables etc). Everything's always well packed, arrived on time and their updates are great. As the exchange rate gets better so do the prices - though it's not so good now as it was a few years back.
10. Also normally had good experience with Gumtree.... but have always done business face to face as a buyer or a seller and kept a wide berth of anything that didn't seem right. Well done to OP for outing the scammers and thanks for the heads up.
11. I'm pretty sure this Scott Owen of The Living End uses a DB with Pbass pickups - looks like an EMG from this: http://www.bassguita...nd-bgm-issue-33
12. So Jazz width on a VM precision neck?
13. What's the nut width?
14. Always wondered why Fender ship new basses (but different models) with different string gauges, An AV62 has 45-65-80-100s An American Std P has 45-65-85-110TW An American Special P has 45-65-85-105 Obviously easy to change to your own preference and adjust the set-up accordingly, but does anyone know if Fender has some "science" behind their choices? Ta
15. Bugger - just grabbed a set earlier this month and they arrived two days ago. Ain't that always the way.
16. +1 on the customer service. Always get a prompt and useful reply from Guy, and they were really helpful when it came to replacing those little plastic nuts that hold the jack input on the back of the cabs.
17. Lovverly basses. Got one. Not selling mine.
18. Hi - Is it 1.75" or 1.5" nut width?
19.
ON HOLD.
Thank god.... could see another £500 slipping out my wallet.....
20. It's odd - a couple of the Denmark St shops seem to have had a refit and there are a few new ones - and one with quite a few basses (including lots of Nash's). Can't remember the name - but pretty basses.
21.
Algy Ward on the Damned's Machine Gun Ettiquette.
+1
