  1. I wanted to change the pickups and preamp in my BB735. I didn't know which pickups, but I was sure about the preamp. However, I ended up getting the pickups changed first. Then, the luthier who did the job told me to give the preamp a shot with the new pickups. And I like it. The preamp I think it's transparent and it just EQ. It doesn't add any magic (like the Aguilar or more coloured preamps) but it allows the bass to sound more transparent. I don't know if I will change it in the future, but for now, I just like it.
  2. I see (or I saw before the change of pickups) my BB735 as neutral sounding. It might not be the best sounding bass by itself, but in a mix it's perfect. I have been asked to take it to every gig by some BL. The 414 I have has its own thing and it's really cool too, but in my case, I love the new range. My 605 had also it's own thing, but it didn't bite as the 414 IMO.
  3. Cool pedalboard. I am thinking about going back to my Markbass or Ashdown preamp/DI and leave the HX for effects. What does the Sansamp offer you that the HX don't?
  4. I know this has been discussed before, but I wish Yamaha would offer more colours in their top range.
  5. Last update: TC Polytune 3-->MXR Studio Compressor-->HX Stomp-->Radial DI and the MXR Poly Blue Octave in the FX loop of the HX Stomp.
  6. Did you use tape instead of screws? It looks really really good. @AndyTravisI contacted them but they were not sure about the size. Since you put one in your BB414, do you have the size of the pickguard?
  7. When you use it, do you play in the lower part of the neck or do you go the upper register?
  8. I have to admit that I got one because of the octave up. In my band there is only one guitarist and when she does a solo I wanted something to fill more, but I'm not convinced. I have to spend more time with it to try some of things you guys use it for. I seems to have a lot of possibilities
  9. I'd get a LPF and set it as your cab. I used to did this with a Broughton LPF
  10. I have one and i absolutely love mine. It's an awesome bass
  11. My BB605 has grown on me. It feels really good.
  12. I have finally got the pickups on my Yamaha BB735 switched. I kept the preamp because I don't know which one I should put on. My luthier says he actually likes this preamp and I think I do too, so I will keep it. For now at least. It sounds better now. Does it sound much better than with the stock pickups? I don't think so. I mean, it sounds better, but the stock pickups sounded good too. There is no hum with these pickups though.
  13. This pedalboard is a Harley Benton Spaceship. It is the same than the Palmer. I should've got a Pedaltrain
  14. My small pedalboard. The Cioks doesn't fit under the pedalboard and I am trying to find a solution. My MXR Poly Blue is waiting its room in the FX loop. My Ashdown OriginAL and Markbass Vintage Pre are used sporadically when I have to use a lot of synth effects.
  15. Mine is from Indonesia. I must say that Made in Indonesia usually says good quality. I'm sure it depends on the brand, but I have a lot of basses (three Yamahas, one Schecter and even a Squier) and they all are pretty good quality.
  16. They are great basses. I tried the 435 and was really good, but I preferred active (even though the schecter is passive :P) and I went with the BB735. It's my main bass, I love it. I also have a BB605. Can't go wrong with Yamaha (or Schecter)
  17. I agree. I love mine. It's one of the only pedals that my Stomp cannot take out
  18. I think this is my new favourite post in Basschat. You guys have some really interesnting setups. Mine is rather simple, because I mostly use a clean tone for most of my projects. Bass-->Wireless-->Tc Electronic Polytune3-->MXR Studio Compressor-->HX Stomp-->Radial DI. Depending on the project, I use the MXR Polyblue Octave and some fuzzes and overdrives in the loop of the HX. I used to use also my Ashdown or my Markbass DI, but now I am trying some Ampeg sims in the HX.
  19. I love the J-5. Old model and new model. I'd probably get one in the future (but not in the near future...) What I got is a CV-5. Awesome quality and awesome sound. The neck feels amazing. But it is heavy. Really heavy. My Yamaha BB735 weights 4kg and the Schecter 4.9. But I'd recommend it any day.
  20. I haven't tried to put the drive before the octaver. How does it track?
  21. I got my Delano pickups for my Yamaha BB735... But I have some doubts now

  22. I want to share my experience with you guys about some noise coming from my BB735. I have been recently going to a gig that I plug directly into my amp. And the bass is a little bit noisy. I have never noticed it because I play with my HX Stomp 99% of the time and it has a noise gate. I think the electrical circuit of the venue makes it worse. The thing is that, today at home, I try it and it was also noisy. It's the 60 cycle hum. So, I've been thinking: if I change the bridge pickup for a noiseless pickup, it should make the noise dissapear, right? Do you guys habe experienced something like this?
  23. Wow. I love the 1025 BBs. Great purchase!
  24. I've been thinking about changing pickups of my BB735 lately. And the preamp. If I change the preamp, I'd get a Markbass preamp. But I'm not sure about the pickups. I put some Delano in my BB605 and I love the result. I thought about Delano again, but I'd like to get someting more vintage. Nordstrand maybe or Seymour Duncan. Any recommendation?
  25. What does the 414 has that the 424 doesn't?? I've always seen the 424 as an upgrade. I was after one in white, but I got the chance to get a 414 in orange (my favourite colour) so I pulled the trigger. Very happy with it. Amazing tone. A little bit heavy, but worth it. I own a 735, 605 and a 414. But I really want a G5s...
