  1. My gf says the exact same thing. But I don't know. @AndyTravis's BB is so sexy...
  2. I am not sure yet. My main option is white pearl (the same as yours) because it looks fantastic. However, yesterday I went to a music store to buy some strings and I saw a Fender Player plus in orange with a tortoise pickguard and it looked amazing. It's true that it's not the same orange, but it may look great on the BB as well. My last option is black, but I think I prefer the other two. The Gotoh bridge is exactly the one I thought. I haven't considered the Hipshot tuners and they might be a great idea to reduce weight too. Thanks for the piece of advice! One question, which pickup height do you guys have in your BB414? I was going for the 3mm "rule" that Yamaha says, but the pickup then it's really low. I think I have it a little bit too high right now. However, it does sound pretty amazing.
  3. It's finally here!! My BB414 has arrived. I must say that I am very surprised about the quality. It hadn't been played for some years (according to the seller) so I did a setup, some lemon oil, new string, intonation... Now it's perfect. It's a little bit heavy, but it plays like a dream. And it sounds really really good. I will probably change the bridge and the tuners (one of them is bent a little bit, even though still works) and I will add a pickguard.
  4. Their website is not the best IMO. Their new range, cheaper than the RH series, is nice. I have used the BH250 in a gig and I was amazed by how loud that thing was. Impressive. The RH range was higher end and more quality, but their BH series are cool. I haven't tried their BAM series.
  5. I also thought it was yours, but I wasn't sure. Thanks!!
  6. Man, I've been like 45 minutes looking in this thread with no luck. There was a fellow basschatter who has/had a BB414 in orange and he made a white pickguard. I am looking for the pick, and I cannot find it. The reason is that I've just bought a used one and I want to make it a pickguard. I guess the measures should be similar to the ones the 424x has. Am I right?
  7. Yep, I love Yamaha basses too. Really really great instruments. Awesome purchase!
  8. I've been looking for one for some time. In white. Great purchase!
  9. I have accepted an offer from a friend to play in his karaoke band. I have to learn like 40 songs for tonight...

It went well. The guys included some songs I had to look for the music sheet or tab on the fly, but it was good. The boss wants me as a regular for the band 😁

I learned about 25 songs for a gig in an afternoon. Wrote out all the chords in the rehearsal room with the band. Drove to the gig, which was about 50 miles away, and realised that I'd left my notes in the rehearsal room (duh!).

The Singer, who also played guitar, wrote out as many of the chords of the tunes as he could in the 15 mins before the gig.

Amazingly, it went all right! They even asked me back.

      Good luck :)

Sounds like a crazy gig hahaha. Good to hear that it went well

  10. Korg monologue incoming. I will start exploring the scary synth territory

Have fun but be warned synth's can be rather addictive, one leads to another!  Also beware levels can change rapidly with filter self oscillations and can damage speakers or your ears!

Thanks! I'll be careful and I'll play with proper protection haha.

  11. Exactly my thought. I think they are changing a bit, but it's going slowly
  12. I currently suffer a lot of irrational GAS for these two: -Markbass GV5 And the affordable Sadowsky Metroexpress
  13. The new (Sadowsky-Warwick) Metroexpress hybrid in white is in my mind all the time... GAS is strong

In my experience there are only two things you can do to get rid of your GAS for a specific bass:

      1) buy it

      2) start gassing after a different bass

I tried the second and I have more GAS now :P

  14. Yep, I have had Sandberg under my radar for some time. However, I must say that the neck of my Yamaha feels so so good, that I haven't felt that way with any other bass. And the Sandberg doesn't have the strings trough body option (if I remember correctly) and that is a must for me.
  15. My rig last weekend. I used the RM500 for the first time in months. Great as always.
  16. I LOVE IT!
  17. I'm also thinking about "creating" my dream bass with different parts. I think it would be: -Yamaha BB735. I'd change the finish to creme white with a tort pickguard (not very original, but classy IMO :P) -Humbucker pickup instead of J in the bridge. -Passive/active electronics. With a switch to use the bridge pickup as single or hambucker. -Markbass preamp -Delano pickups.
  18. I don't know about the RM heads because I have the RM500 EVO, which doesn't have headphone out. If you really need the headphone out, I cannot recommend you the preamp, sadly.
  19. It must be a typo. I saw it yesterday and that's what I thought. @chycthe Ashdown preamp is a really good preamp. I have it and use it (not so often now, since I have another preamp). I think it's very good clean. In my case, I also swapped the valve and I put a JJ 12AT7, the input gain at 9-10 and the drive at 8 and it has a really nice warm tone. The EQ is also very powerfull, I love it. I have to admit that the headphone out is pretty useless since it is very noisy. In my unit at least. But I've never needed that feature.
  20. Hi I have the same exact setup, but I am curious about your signal path. If you want to use the DI out of the Markbass, why do you put the Stomp after it? In my case, it goes: Tuner->Comp->HX Stomp->Markbass.
  21. I have the RM112 EVO and I have gigged with it. For small venues it is enough. And it is good. You will like it.
  22. Nowadays I only play it at home, because I use my Yamaha BB735 for almost every project I am in because of the 5th string (and because I love the bass), but this is the one I cannot live without
  23. @andy67I have also consider buying a 434 used, but I live in Spain and in Europe the BB434 are like 180 euros more than the Sire (new). Secondhand are difficult to find. That is why I considered the 234. I don't mind the preamp, my other 4 string basses are passive.
  24. Hello guys! I want to ask you for your opinion. I want to buy a 4 string PJ. But I'm on a budget and I can't spend too much. Since I have a BB735 and it is probably my favourite bass, I looked into the Yamaha catalogue. I like the BB234. I have also considered the Sire P7. However, I think that the Sire might be much better than the BB234, and more similar to the 434. The 434 is out of my budget. Is there a lot of difference between the 234 and the 434 in terms of quality?
