I actually bought that bass! Went and picked it up from the seller myself - he was a nice guy, no idea what the story behind it is. I didn't want to ask, I assume there was some tragic smashing or act of god that reduced it to just a neck. It's a real nightingstein, but it plays ok and sounds good to me. Great EQ. Bizarre stick-on fret inlays on the neck, so I took them off and gave the fingerboard a polish. The level of the E string in the nut was raised by a tactical lump of solder, which produces extra tone. I'll try to look after the poor mutant thing.
