2. Ideas of pricing? Cheers
3. Thanks for good point Rich, but I have a beautiful Yamaha 5 string fretless now, so I'm happy!
4.
If I had something worth trading I would probably do it in a heartbeat But I don't
I bet you do! Gimme an offer... go on... I'm interested in anything for bass! Especially cabs and basses.
5. Still up for sale by the looks of things!
6.
Oh my  Looking for a 5 string to tide me over til my MikeyBass (tm) is done, wish I had 250 squids
I'm open to trades...
7.
This was the very first Compact performing alongside a drummer who's playing a big Bonham-style acrylic kit with 26" kick and a guitarist using a 100W 2x12" valve combo. Only vocals and sax through the PA. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=357133 Alex
That's excellent thanks. It's what I needed to hear, sounds nice and punchy . I'm pretty much sold... The only thing I'm still unsure about is the lack of tweeter... Can you get a compact with a tweeter? Thanks
8. Let us pray that John doesn't hear about this... Mid badass-jizz-faced-lick in Charged Particles...Oh yeaahh!
9. I really want this... Please get back to me If the deal above doesn't work out. Cheers!
10. Bump!
11.
Very true, my sound may not be what you like, and my sound with the band is different to my sound when I'm on my own. Plus I wasn't pushing the cab, just practising for a gig.
Thanks very much David (I assume that's your name!?) for the clip, it's much appreciated. In response to One Happy Bunny; I understand the variables possible in a recording, but I think it's useful just to have some point of reference so you can get a very vague idea of how capable the cab is. In fact I think that could be very good promotional material if done in say a good quality video of a small concert where the bass is not through the PA. Just so that you know more about what your buying before you pay the very reasonable fee Of course it goes without saying that If Alex is unhappy with the the idea of clips being posted willy nilly then they simply shouldn't be.
12. Bumpity bump bump bump
13. Bumparoo
14. Anywhere near Devon at any point? I'm desperate to try one of these! Are there any videos or sound clips of the cab being used? If anyone could upload a video it would be amazing, I think just the cab with (or VS) a loud drummer would suffice nicely. Cheers Guys
15. Still for sale, thanks for the interest so far! Oh and thanks for the heads up MB1!
16.
I forgot to mention it's a 1x15
PMd
17. Come on everyone this cab is awesome!
18. Traded!
19.
Squier VMJ they are great, in fact I'm buying one but the way people go on you would think they were handmade customs.
I have just one hate, I f***ing hate those silly basses with checkered designs
20. I have been playing with 6 strings for several months now and I have recently been encountering a very irritating problem with my high Cs. A while ago when I restrung my bass I broke two C strings in succession (the memory of this now leads me to cringe when tuning up the higher strings) these strings both broke in between the nut and the machine head. After being pretty pissed off and feeling very stupid I took action and did the whole widening of the nut space and using pencil graphite to reduce the friction. This definitely worked for now. Having now put an entirely new set of strings on the bass it was fine until earlier today when the string broke, this time at the bridge. I noticed that on the bridge there is a small groove that is a bit rough that may have caused the breakage, however I think it's quite unlikely. The strings I'm using are Newtone strings, and the gauge (I think) was 0.034 so the obvious answer would be to get a higher gauge string, but I think that that may not solve the problem. The bass is an Ibanez SR1006 with the Monorail bridge. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do? I love these strings but has anyone had any bad experiences with them? Thanks
21.
Goldy Lookin' Bass? Sorry. Coat ---> door.
Yeah it ain't that pretty but it might be quite a fun novelty one if it's any good. I don't know why anyone would choose something like bloody gold over natural finish.
22. In a shop in Plymouth I found a very curious Spector bass guitar a while back, at the time I didn't think much of it, but looking back it may have been a brilliant deal. So the point of this post is; Does any one know what this Spector is and how valuable it is? It's a 4 string with the normal Euro shape (I think) in a scarey sparkly gold finish, It most notably only had one Humbucker and nothing else. Can you name it?
23. I think that before people get too deep into playing Flea's stuff they should consider learning the other methods of slapping. When I started slapping I did the whole Flea thing and the technique obviously comes hand in hand with their songs, but the thing is that a lot of time it really doesn't work quite so well as the other techniques used by the likes of Wooten and the traditional style used by Larry Graham, Marcus Miller etc. I tend to find that the traditional style and Wooten's kinda thumb plucking style give you a much nicer tone and more control over your rhythm. I don't mean to bash Flea or anyone who uses his style, I just remember clearly how much my sound and precision improved when I stopped doing his style and started to slowly build up the Wooten way of doing things (If anyone knows who invented his particular technique please tell me, because I haven't a clue). On the other end of the scale many people are perfectly happy with Flea's technique and it often sounds fine. The other benefit is how easy it makes the transition from slap to finger style, or the other way round. Enjoy slappin'
