1.
I am thinking about buying one of these basses, but have read some posts (on the internet) where people have said there is some kind design problem which makes it impossible to set the intonation correctly. Have any other owners had this problem? Cheers
I have this problem, but mine is a Prestige model. The intonation however on mine is only slightly out, even after lots of bridge ulterations and speculation from pros. The bass guitar sounds utterly beautiful though, This is definitely a keeper, I love it. If anyone has any Ideas on how to sort this out please share them though. Thanks, I hope this was helpful.
2. For now this is still for sale, Get in quick folks!
3.
It depends on the bass, the luthier etc. I've seen quotes range from £80 to £125 for a professional defret. Remember, you are effectively getting a significant set-up within the price. This could involve filing the nut, shimmying, fretboard treatment etc. I think your Hudson is crying out for a defret, and you'll not regret it. But put flats on when you do!
Have you had a defret job done yourself in the past? I don't think i'd get flats if I did defret, I had a go with some on a fretless before and it really wasn't my bag.
4.
I reckon a defret on that could work a treat ...all your needs met!
I am considering it, it depends whether I come by money or this bass sells. Do you by any chance know how much a defret job would cost me? Thanks
5. Bump need to sell! Need a fretless!
6. That's actually the most beautiful thing I've seen in my life...why the hell would you sell it!

9. I agree that they are beautiful basses, unfortunately I have a huge urge for a fretless at the moment which has lead me to put mine up for sale; So I've got a PBS 5 I'm thinking of selling if anyone's interested? Here's a link to the thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry517972
10. Why would you sell this!? This exact set up was my dream bass for about 2 years!

12. Hi all, for sale/trade is my beautiful Hudson 'PBS 5' 5 string bass guitar. I bought this about a year ago of Ebay and since then it has served me very well. It really is a massive shame as i really love how this bass feels and looks and i know that I'll regret this sale as soon as I put it in the post or hand it over. But I would feel worse just leaving it unplayed and gathering dust (don't worry it ain't dusty yet). It is also worth noting that this bass is literally exactly the same as a Cort Curbow Elite (apart from the headstock) and the Tanglewood Canyon II, so playing one of them will make a great test if your thinking of grabbing this off me. Some spec: Neck through construction Spalted Maple top, with mahogany body Maple and mahogany 5 piece neck nut width, 44mm frets, 24 scale length, 865mm weight, 3.5kg (much lighter than my bloody 4 ton Ibanez) You can see from these photos the small amount of aesthetic damage around the jack input as well as, the place where it used to say 'project bass' and i got rid of it. None of these marks are at all obvious unless you really speculate. If you're thinking of a trade I'm currently looking for a good sturdy 4 string. I'm also open to cash offers or trades for cabs/combos. I am up for posting but obviously i would rather have a collection. I live near Totnes, in between Exeter and Plymouth (Devon). I can't drive... Price drop to £230! Any questions are very welcome!
13. I bet i'm gonna really kick myself in a few days for not buying yo 1x15 . Dang!
14. Ooh it's nice to see someone else with a Hudson; i have the same model but with 5 strings (the 6 string looks quite a lot nicer i think). Mines been through a lot of gigs though, so it's condition ain't as perfect as yours.
15. How much are you selling this one for?
16. How much is the cab going for?
17. Can you use them on bass? I've never seen it before.
18. The 2nd to last, the accoustic, thats a pretty damn cool instrument!
19.
Yes, it's an old Matrix Series I. Looks like the volume & pickup pan controls have been replaced. That disc around the volume control looks like it's been added as a repair, rather like a lot of the brass plates you get around the jack input sockets on JayDees. Bridge is non-standard as well, I think. Thanks to the OP for costing me £8 btw... Never heard Lily before & I've just bought the album off iTunes since this little bit of research!
Everytime i see your picture, I wish I could have your bass so much...mmmm...
20. Hi!, Do you have any jack to speakon cables? I really need one! Thanks
21. If i get £450 for some reason, this is mine.
22. How big is it? Rough dimensions or just comparison would do
23. Thanks for the help, the harmonized major scale bit seems to be the kinda thing i was looking for. But next time i have a spare tenner i'll definitely think about getting the Fingerboard harmony book. And in response to Youma; Despite the fact I have only recently started listening to jazz regularly recently, i have been playing jazz for years since i was wee when i tackled life with a trumpet, so i do enjoy it a lot it's just taken a while to set in as a genre I listen to a lot. To be honest i have no idea why I've taken so long 'cause, I'm finding stuff like Maiden Voyage, Milestones as well as some contemporary and fusion stuff like Robert Glasper, Weather Report, Chick Corea's Elektric band, John Patitucci and it's all brilliant. And i know i wont become the Hendrix of bass... Thanks everyone,
24. Hello everyone, I'm looking to get better at ye olde jazz and generally better at left hand technique and formation. I have been playing for a while and have just got a new six string if that gives any one more of a clue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers
