1.
That is a beautiful looking Bass. If you want my "10 penneth", stick an ACG pre-amp in it. Can't see what the pick-up is, but if you want to change it, speak to Andy at Wizard pick-ups. If they don't produce something that size, send the pick-up to them and they will re-wind it to your spec. OR sell me the Bass and i'll do it.
Cheers, what are wizard pickups like then? I did find them in my initial search for a nice new pickup but i had never heard of it so i went on looking for cheap Bartolinis and the like. The size shouldn't be an issue though my teacher seems to think it's the exact size of a stingray 5 pickup. And In responce to Burpster, I forgot to mention initially that i don't think i will get a bartolini pickup and preamp as my other bass is fully bart'd up so i wanna get something a little different. But yeah you are right they sound utterly beautiful on my other bass. I already had a look at EMGs aswell and they're definitely an option. Cheers for the help everyone, any more ideas will still be appreciated!
 2. Hello everybody, I have a 5 string bass which is obsolete to my new 6 string only because of it's pickup and preamp, it seems a shame to sell or just keep it all alone in my room so my next money draining project will be making it comparable to my beautiful Ibanez (If that is at all possible). And a nice arty photo just to show off... I plan to put a high C on this bass instead of ye olde low B. I'm thinking of using this as my dropped D bass for live shows and maybe putting an ebony ramp in between the pickup and the neck. I may also change the Bridge at some point, but that's less important. So yeah... any bright ideas on a good preamp and pickup set or combination? Thanks again Jamie
 3.
Those barts are indeed lovely. My SR20th has them and I love their tight sound. Though I still have plenty of use for my Trace 12-band I'm sure I saw this on Talkbass, so it may have been a limited edition as you say. In any case, it's one of the nicest looking Ibanez I've seen. The only thing it's missing is a Wenge fretboard - my favourite fretboard wood. Speaking of which, check out the link in one of my previous postings on this thread to see this year's addition to the SR range - probably the finest Ibanez I've seen and an absolute dream for all fans of the Wenge.
I have already spied them out, they are indeed fine... although they do cost £2000, so i wont be getting one of them soon. I think the one on Talkbass has a burled Poplar top instead of ye olde mahogany. Cheers
 4. A semi? You have a great deal of control! I don't think it is custom shop but maybe limited edition. Heres what i know: I bought it from America where it was made in 2006, it is 'used' but i think it must have only been a dissatisfyed customer who sent it back because there is no wear at all and the strings were completely new (First time i've experienced Elixir strings... they're like condoms over my strings...). The top is Mahogany and the other half of the wings are made from bubinga, it's top is quilted but the bottom isn't. Anyone whose played with these Barts will know hoe beautiful they are, they are briliant, but sadly render the GP11 in my Trace head almost useless (for now). Thanks for the envy guys Jamie
 5.
You know the rule, mate: No pics - no bass then.. Cheers, Faith.
Haahaa, It has arrived... and no suprise it's utterly badass
 6. How much would it cost to get one put on? Or is it an easy DIY jobby jammer
 7. Any piccytures?
 8.
The 1x15 is on hold for benzies123. Amp and 2x10 are still up for grabs.
There's no need to have it on hold as im still not totally sure... also how does the weight of each cab compare? Cheers
 9.
Cool. ....and you are fairly local to me!
Where are you? If you local enough to pick the cab up then i'm more likely to get it...
 10. If the 1x15 isn't gone in a week or two i might get it... it would complement my AH300 SMX GP12 and my 1048H cab very nicely... I'll PM you if i do decide to get it! Cheers
 11. I would kill for this as well though...
 12. My SR1006EBG is on it's way across the pond right now I will post pics once received if you guys want? Charss
 13.
Benzies, I've got SR1005, if it does the trick... B string is quite good sounding (erm, at least for my ear), neck feels like going-thru-butter, huge variety of tones (oh, just adjust the Mid Frequency knob a bit - plenty of different basses you got there, mate.. ). I can't tell, if it sounds too middy (as people sometimes mention, they do), it just sounds punchy to my ear. Neck thru, rosewood fingerboard, heavy strings (you add 'em yourself, of course..) - it all gives warmth, sustain, punch. The only thing that dissappointed me was knobs - Treble/Bass knobs broke down after a few months (my Ibby was brand new then), and you can't properly adjust them without pre-amp turning on and off.. But it's not very bad at the end. In my opinion, it's more like 'team-work' instrument, rather than 'solo, steping-out' thingy. You know, what I mean.. Hope this helps cheers Faith
Cheers for the Info... I played the SR 506 (Is that what its called, the model below and i loved it, more than some £1500 basses in the same shop) so i assumed the Sr1006 would just be the perfected version of it. Cheers again!
 14.
Hurry up if you really plan to buy one of those, they went out of production with 2009. A real shame, since the 5000 range (that replaces 1000 series) are not neck through body, and the differences between 5000 series and 500 are now hardly worth double price.
sh*t! Thanks for that, i better get my act together. Mighty shame as well though.
 15. Anyone played the Ibanez 1006 EFM Prestige? I Played the 506 and loved it, and assumed that the 1006 would be similar but just more lovely. I'm gonna hopefully get one soon and get a college grant to pay half. Any advice ect?
 16. Thanks for the help guys, i looked on maplin and its not really the kinda thing I'm searching for but thanks for the input. As for the ports i think they are the way they are simply because it means the Cabs look nice and beefy. Thanks!
 17. I see you have V-type amplification... does that include a V8 head? I really wanna get one some day and then get some Geddy Lee on the go,( Not just for that i bet they sound amazing). And i know my amp is lovely! I only wish it was a AH-600 or 1000 instead of 300.
Very nice! Some great green loud stuff there Always preferred the SMX head to the later GP12 preamp that came about just before the Gibson takeover. But I only ever owned a GP12 head (pre-Gibson by 1 month...). One day I will own a Series 6 and an early SMX head. I hope
18.
I see you have one of the Hudson 5-stringers. What's that like? They seem pretty decent, especially for the price. (I note in your sig, you say it's like a Curbow). Nice rig, by the way.
Well, I got mine of ebay for £350 and they seem to retail elsewhere for £650. Only once i got it i could tell it was B-stock (few stains, sorted most of it out though), but it plays beautifully and looks quite lovely as well, I was proud of myself for fetching that bargain . And yeah they are exactly the same as Cort Curbow Elites- i mean literally same everything apart from perhaps pickups, probably even built in the same factory. But yeah lovely bass, i recommend it. Now i'm looking to get a Ibanez BTB 676 NT (yum yum) Cheers

 20. Hello, I want to get rid of a five string set of D'Addario 'Nickel Wound' strings. This set is new and in the original packaging. I bought two packs and having now strung my bass with the 1st pack i have decided to go back to Ernie Ball strings. Medium Gauge : 050. 070. 085. 105. 135. 'Long Scale' (34") I'll put them up for £10 and you can pay by paypal unless your somewhere near Totnes. I'll put it up on Ebay in a few days if it doesn't sell. Cheers, Jamie
 21. Hi everyone, When I received my trace head and cab from a TNT van about a month ago the courier man dragged out a incredibly battered looking set of boxes. Luckily most of the damage was to the actual wrapping (which was incredibly crude by the way), but the cab did suffer a small amount of damage, to my dismay the guy handed me a shattered plastic ring, for a moment i had no idea what it was and then i noticed the part missing from the cab. So yeah can you get this part replaced? It's for a 1048H cab but i think all the rings are the same size anyway. When the part was smashed off, the big tube going into the cab must have been bashed in a bit as well, as when i super glued the ring together and put it on it didn't fit properly, luckily i managed to pull the tube out to its proper position 10 minutes ago. Which arises another thought... It may have just been me but when i got the tube back in position the cab sounded much clearer and more defined... I had no idea these 'tuning' rings did that much! DON'T TRUST TNT!! Cheers fellows Jamie
 22.
SMX was 1992-1998ish, with a couple of facelifts along the way. Pre-Gibson
Nah, I have a AH-300 GP12 SMX head made in 2004. I know that since Peavey took over there hasn't been any.
 23. How much would postage/courier be? I'm willing to buy it, but it may take a week or two get the money sorted, so i don't know if it will still be up here. Thanks Jamie
 24. At my college there's a buzzing with every amp whether guitar or bass. In this case it's because of the Police Station down the road, their radio signals somehow interfere with the signal, trust me it's bloody annoying! It wouldn't be that bad if we could listen to the calls and then help fight crime...yeah!...
