1.
Sims = Amp Simulations (ie selecting an Amp and Cab combination) - I asked because you also have a bypass volume to select as well, so when the sim is off, the level is the same direct as when it is switched on in the patch. Also , have you tried switching the output to 'line' to bring the signal output up? - The manual also suggests that where possible, turn the master volume on the X3 up full for best signal to noise ratio. The X3 doesn't as such include an input gain control, so you may find that some compromise had to be made for basses with a really high output level, so that it won't distort the input section of the X3. My active pickups have a very high output. Try turning off the input pad switch as that will allow lower output pickups a stronger signal in. I think it's just a case of balancing input with output. I had to faff with mine too! - and finally - have you selected the right mode for the Live output? ie - for an amplifier input as opposed to 'studio/PA' or 'power amplifier'? Worth checking, especially if you have used Line6 Monkey recently to update the firmware!
It was the bypass volume, thanks! I don't know why I couldn't work that out for myself but hey! Thanks very much for helping me out there, it's pretty damn obvious now you say it. I'm going to have to look into the live output thing, I came across this before and ignored it and having tinkered it seems to make quite the difference to your sound. Crazy pod. Thanks again Dood, maybe some day I can help you out with my amazing technical know how... Oh yeah, and one last thing - We're still waiting...
2.
Hmmmm... intriguing! How are you 'configured' with your amp? and when are you finding the signal is weakened? With Sims on or off?
I feel like I should know this but what are Sims? This weakened signal is evident when I just run a lead from bass>Pod input>Live out> amp active input. Obviously I have removed all effects and EQ settings so the signal should be exactly the same as when there is no pod surely? The gain is unaltered too. I kind of thought this was just one of the compromises from using FX boards but I recently just started to question my own knowledge in the matter and now you seem surprised... so I'm now thinking this might be a wee problem, a solution would be great!
3. Hello all, basically I keep getting put off using my pod unless it's really needed as it seems to reduce the strength and clarity of the signal, I'm pretty sure this isn't either leads as I use them both separately all the time anyway. Just to clarify by 'strength' I also mean volume. Any ideas what could be doing this? I'm probably just ignorant of some setting on or something. Thanks Jamie
4. I just received an EA iAMP 800 today from Adolfredo and everything in his control has gone perfectly (sadly clumsy old parcel force are not in his or it seems anyone's control, but that's not a big problem and is somewhat irrelevant to Fello's feedback...). Summary: Excellent correspondence, fair pricing and generally very helpful! I even got a speaker cable chucked in which I hugely appreciate. Thanks very much Adolfredo, business with you highly is recommended! Jamie
5.
I may be interested, Im moving into a flat and a full ampeg stack aint gonna please the neighbours!! What would be the price for this if you were to get the active input fixed?
Sorry I have taken so long to reply, you have a PM coming your way!
6.
PM'd!
You must have that avatar pic especially for moments like this, it is really very fitting ...
7.
Personally I can hear the difference between Linley and Jaco - the latter's tone and touch is so distinctive and Linley plays if anything with more aggression - Jaco was more laid back even when he played fast - and for the record as soon as any bassist switches on their bridge pup and plays muted 16th notes they are 'accused' of sounding like Jaco... it's damn hard not to. It's another part of the language of bass playing that he helped pioneer - but hey if you don't want to use it, don't use it.
Couldn't agree with that post more.
8. I don't mean this in a malicious way at all but... surely 'Phat groove from Juan Nelson' would be a more suitable thread heading On the relevant side, yes that is a nice groove!
9. Thanks for the kind/ insightful words and yes I am very lucky to live in the Totnes area, especially at this time of the year, lovely, sunny and green
Nice version of the Jazz "Mustang Sally"
Gotta keep the non-jazzers happy somehow! To be honest I love our arrangement, it's great fun to play.
10.
Have a spare set of these - lovely golden tuners, very nicely built, with open gears. Yours for £20 and the price of shipping.
Are they Fender or 'Gotoh' style and what size are the threads? If they're the non Fender style ones I am very interested.
11.
Live DnB (wait for the drop):
Reminds me of the Tool song Rosetta Stoned. Pretty cool stuff going on there! Your production and the fact that it's all nicely done makes me regret posting my sh*te... but alas I just want to be part of things and that's all I got.
12. Probably the worst quality video on here, the audio (despite the bad levels) isn't however that bad, aside from all the mistakes Enjoy if you can this wonderful spectacle of mobile phone camera filming complete with giggling friend behind the lens... Oh and I apologise for the Janek lick and the huge intentional tempo change... ha
13. For those of you that like fusion and world music this series of a videos is a real treat. The reason I posted here is just because of the phenomenal bass playing of Linley Marthe; someone who I feel that I should be more familiar with given his wonderful playing. This is the 3rd in a series of 3 videos from BBC4 and it's well worth watching all of them. I like it all but at about 4:30 it starts getting bass heavy. I noticed this has already been discussed on basschat, but that was 3 years ago and I think any opportunity to share this great music is worthwhile. The album this stuff is from is called Faces and Places and is really worth checking out, nice grooves and beautifully natural bass playing. Nice bass too
14. Still up for sale or trade
15. That is simply too beautiful. Good luck!
16. 'I think there's a groove goin' own.... I hear the funk!'
17. The EQ on your GP12 is scaring the sh*t out of me!
18. How many layers does that looper do? I'm assuming only one but if it's any more I am very interested. Cheers
19. Another person seems to have disappeared! This is still for sale!
20. Oh and on the newer side of things: (finally worked out how to embed youtube!)
21. People disregard these Prestiges and Ibanez basses in general as metal basses, but I play a bit of everything (mostly jazz) and this bass suits it all beautifully, these are just so nice under the fingers. Mine is most certainly a keeper! Good luck with the sale.
22. It seems like this is still for sale!
23.
Replace it with one of the same, Eminence Delta 12 is equivalent to the one in the GS cabs, bit of research might find if both are the same. There were some Aguilar drivers for sale on here. Aguilar seem pretty good at sensible cab designs, so probably just ask them directly, you likely won't benefit from using a different driver. The Delta neo apparently goes well in the GS cabs, again, I don't know what the difference is
Thanks for the advice. Yeah there is a guy selling two Aguilar 12" cones on here for £100 so hopefully I can get him to split and get a reasonable price one. I might consider going neo though... a night on google lies ahead I think! Thanks
