  1. Our show at Mama Liz's in Stamford went really well (nice venue and really great organizers). Someone in the crowd even posted a video of us on YouTube:
  2. How did you get the Schallers to fit on there? My Fender MIM screw holes would never work with those tuners...
  3. I risk losing my Warwick sponsorship, but oh well... just don't tell Hans-Peter that I touched a Fender.
  4. 'The Bubinga Bit*h' on the left, 'Stealth' on the right.
  5. My band 'Shreds.' had our show at The Fulford Arms on Sunday of last week (sorry, I've been busy and didn't manage to post this until now!). My family also came to York and listened to the show, but before the soundcheck we went around the city and made a short family trip out of it. The venue in York was really great, one of the best we've played so far. Ample parking right out back, great 'backstage' rooms upstairs for the bands complete with a stocked fridge and we were told to help ourselves. The sound guy was super easygoing and helpful. We record all of our shows live and sometimes this can cause complications (some sound guys consider this a very unwelcome intrusion/disruption and huff and puff about it). I bring some mics, my laptop running Reaper, and a 4U rack with 24 digital preamp channels and a transformer-isolated XLR splitter. We record guitar and bass using DI only, and then I re-amp and mix everything when I get back home. The Fulford Arms sound guy helped patch things into my splitter and didn't complain about it. This was only our 6th show,. but probably the best performance yet. The last few shows we've been saying the same thing... "best show yet!". As a band, we learn so much by listening to our show recordings... I give the drummer isolated tracks and he studies them. Sometimes ad-lib comments or lyrics by our vocalist sound great, and we can deliberately insert them into the next show. As a bassist, I hear every mistake and try to fix it the next time around.
  6. We're playing at The Fulford Arms in York on Sunday. Come check us out! We're 'Shreds.' York - May 28th - The Fulford Arms: https://www.facebook.com/events/490763603183758
  7. A second recommendation for Designacable. I've had quite a few custom made by them and they've never let me down!
  8. I have way too many cabinets, and everywhere I play these days seems to have their own decent bass cab in-house at the venue. So, selling a few things off and will put the money into some other gear. I have 2 GK RBH 410 cabs, and 2 GK RBH 115 cabs. You're welcome to take one, two, three or all four. RBH 410's are £250 each RBH 115's are £200 each These are heavy, so you'll either have to collect in Sheffield or meet me somewhere within ~1 hour of driving. Head was sold a long time ago... after I switched to using mostly Mesa stuff.

  10. I have a futon in the home studio that I will sit down on when trying to compose basslines... but for regular rehearsal of solid material while at home, I will always stand.
  11. Beautiful bass! Nicely done!
  12. Is that a maple fingerboard glued on a maple neck, or is it all cut from one piece?
  13. But now I'm also thinking about buying the all-white player series P bass with the maple neck. Then I get to experiment with both fingerboards... and I could also then swap the pick-guards between the two basses. Black with white / white with black. Oh dear... what is wrong with me. GAS strikes again...
  14. I recently modified my Fender Player P bass with a high-mass Kickass bridge and some Geezer Butler EMG pickups... It's sounding pretty massive. This one has an Ebony fingerboard.
  15. My band 'Shreds.' hits our home base of Sheffield soon, playing at 'The Lughole' in just over two weeks! Come check us out! Saturday May 13th: https://facebook.com/events/s/sheffield-hunt-saboteurs-benef/736172934798939/
  16. Brother from a different mother...
  17. I can second a lot of what has already been mentioned about dates to avoid and wood types. I love my Bubinga Thumb NT with its Wenge neck and Ebony fretboard... but this one is a studio queen, since it sounds superb in recordings but I feel is too heavy and too nice to gig.
  18. Selling this Hughes and Kettner Spirit of Rock guitar amp, excellent condition and barely used. I'm selling this cute little guitar head for £90... I actually have two of these (one was a gift), so this one is surplus to requirements. Price includes postage, or collect from Sheffield.
  19. ART HeadAmp6 Pro Six 6 Channel Headphone Amplifier With EQ & Aux Mixer for sale for £150 (includes shipping costs within UK, or collection from Sheffield). I originally purchased this unit to use as part of an in-ear monitoring solution, but this is now surplus to requirements. Works really great... no issues at all!
  20. The bassist for Subhumans uses one of these... it's a great sounding amp! But, I also have way too many amps already!
  21. My band 'Shreds.' is playing with 'The Varukers' at The Victoria Inn in Derby on Friday April 21st. Come check us out!
  22. JJs are good... it's what come in the GK D-class + valve preamps from the factory. I've put them into some Marshall guitar heads too...
  23. Cool! We're playing there at the end of May... thanks for posting the photo, as it gives me a great impression of the stage.
