Just to update this thread: Around mid-November of 2020, I ultimately settled on a very nice pair of ADAM Audio T5V 5" powered monitors that I picked up used from John Browne (guitarist of 'Monuments'). John had been using them as a pair of temporary stand-in monitors while ADAM was delayed in sending him something more top-of-the-line. The price was super reasonable, they sound absolutely fantastic, and were still under warranty. ADAM Audio even refunded me a small fraction of the purchase price when I presented them with the Reverb receipt (they offer an academic / student discount)! Oh, and I got to meet John Browne who doesn't live very far from me. Super nice guy!

24 digital channels... 24 bit at 96 kHz. Okay, I don't use all 24 channels for bass, but I do use about 6 of them: raw DI, Darkglass Alpha-Omega DI, post-eq amp DI, MD-421 on 4x10 cab, and 2 outputs from a Lewitt 640 Rex on a 1x15" cab. I have some options

Wow, what an awesome Status bass! I guess the lights are an absolute necessity on stage when the rest of the bass is black! -

Warwick Corvette 6-string hardware change
tvickey replied to tvickey's topic in Repairs and Technical
So... who needs two cans of Warwick bass wax, one partially used? 🤣🤣 I brought two cans over to the UK with me from France recently thinking I needed them. Indeed, I sent an email with the S/N to Warwick and they replied "no need to wax this one." -

Thanks! Sounds great about your hardware change too. Thanks for your comment. I was not aware of the finish change on the Warwicks.... Well, this one got a nice coat of wax. Ha! Seemed to make it look better... -

What's everyone else bringing to their first rehearsals of 2021? -
On Thursday I will have my first rehearsal in nearly one year with the rest of the guys... I've decided on these two weapons of choice.

Warwick Corvette 6-string hardware change

I'm pretty pleased with the new Schaller straplocks. I'd never used them before, and in the past always left the Warwick ones on my basses. However this particular bass is so heavy (and the original strap buttons on this bass were not compatible with my other instruments anyway) I decided to go with something a bit more robust. -
Warwick Corvette 6-string hardware change

Hey @seb here are the after pictures with black hardware! I also waxed the body and polished it a bit. I put some DR high-beam strings on it now. Did full setup and sounds really good. Looks like Warwick or someone drilled an extra set of holes where the bridge is mounted (odd!). This bass is from 2015, and I don't think the bridge design has changed that recently. Also, it looked like the original bridge to me, so I'm a bit confused by the second set of holes in the body. I have to confess I've not opened up any other Warwicks, so not sure if the two sets of holes serve a purpose or if it was a mistake at the Warwick factory. -
These are the before pictures... I changed the hardware on this Warwick Corvette 6-string... the original tuners were actually in pretty good shape, but I wanted Schallers on it. Part of the bridge was all bent up and distorted (one of the handful of faults that are known to happen with Warwicks over time), so that needed to be replaced anyway. I also wanted Schaller straplocks on the bass, so... let's do everything in black then!

Sometimes folks just don't want to sell me stuff... I don't know why. There was the guy on eBay who didn't want to sell me an Aguilar Chorusaurus pedal and blocked me. To vent, I complained on Basschat. Then a couple of months later someone read my complaint on Basschat and sold me theirs. Stoisism man, one has to believe that it is all for the best... it will all work out in the end. I'd really enjoy goofing with this pedal, but perhaps you have better luck! 🤣 My B7K v2 is waiting for me... somewhere, sometime.

Sent you PM, but now seems that you left the messaging conversation? I'm very interested in this pedal, but messaged to let you know that using PayPal 'Friends and Family' can cause some transactions to get flagged, and then delays sending the funds (this happened to me when I just tried to pay my singer for a band t-shirt, and the funds were blocked by PayPal for ~2 weeks before getting released!).

Purchased a 7-string Ibanez guitar from Nick. He was super helpful and even included some extra bits like a spare set of strings and some Schaller strap buttons. Shipped super fast, and was always giving me updates via Basschat messaging. Thanks Nick!

Welcome @BrigadierBass! I didn't realize until this morning when trying to access something on Talkbass that their site went down... crazy what happened!

Help needed --- Mesa Strategy Eight:88 power transformer
tvickey replied to tvickey's topic in Amps and Cabs
What's the issue that you're having with the head? My 'standby' switch got stuck, which David Gaffrey replaced at the same time he did the voltage conversion for me. David commented that the switch issue is very common... I know of at least one other Basschatter who had the exact same issue with his 888. -

Thanks @binky_bass, I take this to mean that you didn't sell your rig in the end and the house purchase worked out okay for you! -

Long overdue update on this thread. Indeed, David Gaffrey helped me out and did the conversion from US to UK voltages without any issues and for an incredibly reasonable price. Now I no longer need to do this with the step-down transformer...
