  1. @Old Man Riva that Sean Hurley P is absolutely gorgeous, I want more of it! Ander.
  2. the thing is I’ve been spoiled picky with weights lol. Heaviest cab was the above mentioned Trickfish 2x12, and always been picky with bass weights (4kg max) and similar… … until you realise the problem is not so the weight but me being 20kg overweight lol! Now that I’m fixing that, 3hrs with my 4.2kg basses are a breeze… Same would translate to everything else! Checking measures etc the Six10 is closer to a BT2 XL than our traditional 8x10. A bit more back to topic I do feel that the ABM just warrants a big cab and looks so bloody fine haha! And being in a punk rock trio is the perfect excuse to thicken up my bass tone and move more air. The other project that may kick off again is neosoul with my wife (been on and off) and then again warm tubey does just fit right…! I have heard this plenty…! And it does make sense, the side handles on a super square shape can’t help too good.
  3. this is very valuable! The photon has noisegates and compression etc etc I believe I could wing it aye…? 29kg is criminal but my first cab was a 25kg 2x12 that I’d bring around with a cart whilst living in London if the gig was big enough to warrant it. What crazy times lol! things have changed and I workout now more etc so I reckon I could pull it out from car to venue and back and my band mates are a sweetheart that always help anyway 😁 and yes, I totally get what you’re coming from re: straight to amp! My plan is playing direct clean, and then via the AOP pushed clean / distortion / megafuzz for a couple parts…
  4. ah I’m torn! I feel like now that I drive etc etc I could enjoy a bigger cab compared to my BB2. Definitely want a 4 Ohm cab. Super Twin, BB2, Six10… it all depends of how much treble/definition can I pull with the ABM and the AO Photon. I have a feeling I won’t have trouble getting sharpness and treble with the Darkglass though… and my line ups where there’s only one guitarist does also help in having more space for bass…!
  5. Damn that is one fine rig! I see a lot of Fender Ps + ABMs + Barefaceds! Im just not sure how will I feel lugging a Six10 up and down stage on and off car etc… the band does help and I am going to the gym (I’ve lost 14kg by the way…!) but am I just making excuses? I hear some of you say ‘shut up and buy it’…! yep this is one of my queries, I’m wandering about it specially coming from a tweetered BB2 - tweeter on all the way more just cause I’m used to it rather than preference tbh, I should try turning it off and seeing how that feels once the ABM is here… which should be tomorrow afternoon! Ander.
  6. This is the kind of motivation I do (not?) need. I do have to say that having missed a guitarist (we were a quartet initially) has opened a lot of opportunities for me - doing backing vocals and pretty much whatever I want with my bass 🤣🤣
  7. I am loosely considering pairing my upcoming ABM with a Barefaced Six10... Knowing I had probs plenty with a Super Twin or similar... Overkill for a punk rock trio?
  8. Just bought an Alpha Omega Photon pedal from Derek @derekjw this afternoon - super responsive and a lovely chap to deal with, would most definitely recommend.
  9. I come back from Limelights and Stingray Specials - I’m genuinely impressed with the AO’s Jazz and Precision I got…!
  10. I think buying 2nd hand solves this! I am thoroughly impressed with the two American Originals I got (AVRI-RI’s 🤣) - good sellers were honest about them and tried and tested of course… … I’ll say that even for Japanese ones - I got one of the recent Fender Boxers made in Japan brand new from pmt and I did NOT like it. Well finished but not well balanced and super super dull sounding!
  11. So...! after almost a year holding onto it and absolutely loving it (Barefaced convert now, undeniably), I have decided to let go of my BB2 Gen 3... Amazing sound and versatility thanks to the tweeter... This thing blows and is super light at 12kg! Mine is pristine with no marks and with the fancy original cover. £650 seems a proper steal considering condition and upgraded grill. NOW FOR SALE ONLY. Only reason to it is curiosity, I am getting an ABM 600 and curious to try a combination with more speakers.
  12. haha yes they are loud! I sold my first Eich t900 but then saw this after a couple years and kinda missed it… here we are, god knows if I’ll be back for more T900 in a couple years more eh? 🤣
  13. Yep… from Microtubes X7 to Ultra or B7k/Ultra to the programmable ones… I’ll shop around! I’d like the clean to be the ABM, then a distortion with the Darkglass and a boosted/fuzzier setting that I can access on the go with the Darkglass… without needing more than a single pedal or making a pedalboard 😆 Ander.
  14. Oh will bear this in mind, yes, Darkglass pricing is going up the roof lately but most definitely only looking at second hand. Ander.
  15. Oh I've always heard great things about this Aftershock... will dig in further!
  16. Definitely looking forward to trying it out this weekend... May be enough with the foot switch and a Darkglass simpler pedal for the heavy stuff...! Ander.
  17. reduced for a quick sale! Including original gig bag! It'll go bass direct on Saturday otherwise...!
  18. Dropping down to £550 for a quick sale...!
  19. @admiralchewDM'd, very interested, can collect from London or ship over. Ander.
  20. ... Plus, there is a ton of times at home where I don't want to set up cables and power supplies etc back from rehearsal and just want to plug right into the amp and play straight from the bass
  21. Ah, very good point... my train of thought is: 1. Currently using a HX Effects - should be enough to just replace my amp head, and continue using the Darkglass simulation in the HX Effects. Problem is I only use that in my chain pretty much, a b7k simulation and a bit of compression. All the other effects I don't touch them more than to fool around if ever. 2. Form factor... I'm adding bulk with the ABM vs my Eich, so can do with saving space against the HX Effects in favour of a single Darkglass pedal 3. Price...! I can probably do with a Microtubes X7, but the price even second hand is just a £100 difference and for that I can get the 3 different presets and just... 4. I still do some gigs where regrettably I am forced to use the house amp and want to put as little as possible tone on those. Agree the latest programmable from Darkglass may be overkill, but I know I want only one pedal so a pedal board (other effects, power supply underneath etc) is something I've tried and not loved... ... I will get the head this weekend and try it, god knows, maybe I am happy with just the foot switch and an X7 so I'll hold my horses... Having said that, I've seen an ADAM in this forum I could well consider...! Best, Ander.
  22. Thank you @ern500evo! im thinking of going down the path of ABM plus a Darkglass programmable pedal like the Adam - vintage tones and fuzz with compressor etc? Yes please! Best, Ander.
  23. Ah @MichaelDean the response has been so unanimous, I wasn’t expecting that much towards the Ashdown! Seems I got a seller for my Eich amp so that I can probably update you all with a purchase this weekend. thanks for much for the support and comments! Ander.
  24. Completely agree with you! very good stuff but like you said, depending on what you want...! In my previous 'adding colour' phase I went for an Aguilar TH350 and didn't love the controls and how the gain interacts with volume depending on each other etc. Seems that Ashdown does have that kind of definition I'm looking for whilst still the characteristic valve warmth... but it's admittedly trying out an Ampeg that brought me to that search...!
