    ... Aaaaand the other one is here! for those that didn't read my previous sale here, the time has come for my Rays and I to bid adieu. It's been a great great time (as my absence here has shown) but bills, renovations, a new motorcycle and others mean I have to let go of something. Notes: - Colour is discontinued. - This series is on Swamp Ash body - newer ones (the £3.2k+ of today are 'select hardwood' - unspecific). Board is ebony, neck on roasted maple. - This bass does NOT have the cutout for controls on the back unlike the new ones (less plastic covers... more wood?) - Bass is 4kg, I'm picky for weight and can pull off 4hr rehearsals with it super super comfortably. Offered with absolutely all case and candy. - Hipshot detuner added on the original tuner - can be reversed easily and without troubles. - Original pick guard, 3 layer matt black and single layer matt black pickguards included, flat AND round Daddario NYXL and Chromes as new included, same as dunlop strap locks - Super mint condition with no blemish that I may spot, perfectly adjusted and cleaned with Music Nomad suite. - Serial: September 2018. Neck is super smooth and the preamp is incredibly versatile, P, J bass sounds... it's done all my round wound recordings in studio to date.     Well. Although I did not see this coming, it is happening. I bought a new bike, a personal loss putting things in perspective and, much as this is my favourite bass ever, bills and life have made me downscale my gear. Perspective I guess. Selling my unicorn (which I managed to find again) first edition of the Musicman Stingray Special 5HH in Cruz Teal. The bass was bought BRAND NEW and imported from USA in March this year - call it NOS or what you will but the bass is perfectly impeccable. It took me several laps around the world to find it and bring it home (and pay duties on!). Notes: - Colour is discontinued. - This series is on Swamp Ash body - newer ones (the £3.2k+ of today are 'select hardwood' - unspecific). Board is ebony, neck on roasted maple. - This bass does NOT have the cutout for controls on the back unlike the new ones (less plastic covers... more wood?) - Bass is 4.2kg, I'm picky for weight and can pull off 4hr rehearsals with it comfortably. Offered with absolutely all case and candy. - Pearloid pickguard, flat AND round Daddario Chromes / NYXL included, same as dunlop strap locks - More than mint condition, not gigged, perfectly adjusted and cleaned with Music Nomad suite. - Serial: August 21st, 2019. Neck is the most comfortable I've had on a 5er, and the 5 position switch blade is delicious - I used to think I did not need HH config but I have been using the single configuration on cleans quite a bit, lots of twang or growl too if you engage both humbuckers! P and J tones are also super easy to achieve with this 18V preamp. Of course dead silent. I've something arranged and bills so I need the money - no trades and can hear offers - I reserve the right to withdraw or sell it to what I consider to be a good home.     I’m in love with this bass, I’ve the single pickup version and the 5HH in cruz teal… the only basses I’ve come back to after all these changes sales and trades…! it’s been a good bunch of months I ‘only’ have two basses and cannot complain - super versatile!

    Thank you! taken a lot of work and the right opportunities but I think in my heart these are the top two colours for that generation if not ever (to me)! Ander.

    Ah...! First couple of days with the 5HH and loving it - took it to practise yesterday... It came really well set up and I didn't have to touch the action, just the truss rod a tad bit when I changed the strings to Chromes flatwounds... Slamming tone and lots of flexibility thanks to the extra pickup. Depending on the type of player you are, one pickup is plenty - I don't see myself using them all in the 5HH for live gigging in my punk rock band, but I will defo use some of the tones in the studio. Positions 2 and 4 (inner and outer coils from each pickup combined) add a very very cool character! What I'm saying is, if you have a chance to get a HH version go for it, but if you want to scratch the itch of having a Stingray and you only have single pickups you will not be miserable. For me, it does the job where my base sound is on the 4H, whilst the 5HH lets me do other genres (soul/neosoul forays) and different tones out of the pickup positions. I can see myself using both evenly, keeping the 4H with NYXL's - the string choice adds a lot of flavour of course...! I will change the pick guard to pearloid most likely, and that switch tip to black of course, why'd they use white when the hardware and knobs are black....!

    This - I have jumped between 50-105 and 45-100 and in between with rounds steels flats.... Most of the times the 0.005" variation doesn't amount to much... You may be lucky? long as the string sits in right, you've got a lot of room to adjust truss rod string height and others.

    Most definitely....! Digging in around in forums etc it also seems that the newer generation of 'select hardwood' bodies it's cause they ran out of the swamp ash they used in 2018-2019 (wood shortages etc). Now I sound like I'm ranting against all that is not mine, I don't mean to - I am sure they are absolutely amazing instruments to the highest standard, but paying 3k£ I'd expect to almost have a picture of the bass the woods come from haha!

    Hey bud! the charcoal sparkle and dropped copper were second hand at 1700£ ish, seems going price. The brand new Cruz Teal was from N Stuff Music, Pennsylvania, post taxes looking at £2,290ish, cheaper than my 5H Special back then (£2,299 from GAK). These days UK new prices for Specials is £3k+, I've seen £3.2k to £3.5K for a 5HH....! This Cruz Teal was 2400$, discounted down to about 2150$ if I remember? converted to 1800/1900£ plus customs.... Can't remember the figures down to detail but certain £2,290 at home

    So, I know how most of us are proper scared of buying outside UK, with Brexit and whatnot.... ... I can report that the experience so far is being very sensible - US shops from what I gather are happier to do a discount when you're buying internationally, the shop I bought it from reduced $250 off my bass without haggling. Customs wise, it has also been pretty smooth - it was shipped with UPS, collected Monday night, and should be delivered tomorrow. I received an email from UPS to pay the customs online via their link, and as much as I dislike UPS when it comes to changes on the way and attempts and information etc, the customs process was easy - you can also pay them with paypal credit or whatever other method. A 20% on the spot - worked out same price as my Cruz Teal 5H back in January 2019, so actually cheaper than the 5HH version which was normally £2,399/2,499 depending on colour. Well pleased! All cleared and should be here on time!
