Hartke Bass attack - sold Perfect condition. Great as a DI, and great for the mid scooped bass tone for slap etc. Nice grind to it too. Excellent condition. Boss Ls-2 - boxed (with a box from different boss pedal) - SOLD The classic blender pedal. Top quality, and extremely useful. Does the job perfectly. Good condition (but obviously used) behringer DC-9 compressor (original packaging) - SOLD Hardly even plugged in. The plastic case is alot stronger than you'd think, and I would have happily gigged it if I needed it. Joyo ultimate octave - SOLD Used quite alot. The LED for the on/off doesnt work most of the time (which I've never found a problem as its an effect you know thats on or off!). Not boxed (i might have it at my practice unit which il look for tomorrow but lets assume i dont). Loved this on bass along with a dry bass line, never tried it with guitar, but for this price, its surely worth a punt!
Just "one of the worst" gigging experiences? There are more? OMG :-) CB
haha, ok, perhaps nothing gets as bad as that for technical problems! -
worst technical difficulties experiences?

When I was 15 and we were playing one of our first gigs in the big city (Glasgow), we were sound checking and I had leaned my bass up against my bass cabinet. The drummer stepped back off the small drum rise and stood on the 90 degrees jack, which then cracked the scratch plate, and pushed all the gubbins into the bass. The resulted in the jack lead being stuck in the bass. It somehow worked so I decided to just leave it until after the gig. First full volume note though I noticed my amp was seriously distorting. After looking about I realised a tuning peg had gone right through to the cone and punctured a hole. It was 'just about' giggable at alot lower volumes, which obviously ruined the whole gig for us. I then snapped a string which resulted in another bands bassist jumping over to give me a loan of his bass (which thinking back, was seriously nice). My bro had his car window smashed whilst at the gig with me. That was one of the worst gigging experiences I've ever had! -
I'm finding the OD sounds pretty good. Not really had to dial in more than one type of OD, but it sounds organic and non-digital. No loss in bottom end either (as long as you set it up ok). At the moment my main tone is completely clean, but with the pedal as a OD blend, so I;ve got full control exactly how much drive I use at any point. and then the Z pedal as a high gain blend (for the real high gain bits. Really nice touch that Z pedal.

Just recently got their "rockin all over the world" best of album from cash generator! I think its from early 90's. I defy anyone to listen to to it and not enjoy themselves!

couldnt have been up to normal price for long with GAK. its £99 quid with them too! I mean, that is a ridiculous price!

I own EZdrummer and I use it in Reaper. Its great! Really easy to use, and due to the drag and drop of the loops its incredibly simple. Of course once you drop the loop into reaper, you can then double click and change any f the beats yourself via the midi piano roll. I bought it mainly because of the price, but its turned out to be a great bit of software. Its also possible to seperate out the kick, snare, overheads etc into 8 tracks, allowing you to use your own reverbs etc and having full control of the mixing... this might not be unique to EZDrummer though. the only thing negative I;ve got to say is that its so widely used its quite obvious when its getting used in other peoples recordings. Especially with the snare. That might be just because I'm so used to the sound and perhaps people who have BFD or addictive drums come across the same thing. I only have the basic pack (cant remember what its called now) but theres 3 or 4 snares to choose (I think).
Wow, that looks impressive. I'll do a bit of research on it, thanks. Thank for all the quick replies.
Just to let you know, theres a good few threads about this on basschat already. I've owned one less than a month, but I've gigged it already a number of times and it sounds awesome. Great low end, and the digital effects (including overdrive) sound great. As a practice tool, Its great too, lots of cool effects to muck about with and it has an aux in, head phone out. Lots of connections to a pc if you really want to go down that route. It also has a basic looper (which to be honest is too short to be useful IMO). Once you spend a wee while getting your head round it then it'l be great fun! Alot of the presets are very useable already so no need to get to bogged down (there not all whacky phaser effects n'all that, quite alot are just amp models).

http://www.gak.co.uk/en/zoom-b9.1ut/26145 one of these. Amazing bit of kit! Sounds great (to my ears anyway) through earphones. Plus you're buying a very usable bit of gear. Its pretty big though so perhaps its not a perfect solution, but such a good deal just now!

I'm not overly sure whether I should sell this or not, It does the scooped mid sound very well. Its built like a tank with a number of outputs. Very good as a DI but also does a overdrive stomp box kinda thing. I only bought this a couple of months ago, but it will be redundant very soon, and I dont like holding onto gear I dont use, so its back up for sale. Great condition, Works absolutely perfectly. Got some velcro on the bottom and its boxed! Delivered for £55 ono. blurb from website: Hartke's VXL Bass Attack Pedal is a tone-shaping pre-amp that doubles as a direct box, featuring the famous Hartke Shape Circuitry. The two-button style stomp box has a three band EQ for adjustments of Bass, Treble, and Bright controls, plus a Harmonic control that emulates the warmth and drive of a tube so well that you'll never want to turn it off. The Hartke Bass Attack Pedal gives you the ability to finally get the sound you want, and everything in between VX tone shaping pre-amp / direct box Famous Hartke shape circuitry 3-band bass, treble and bright control Harmonic control for tube drive emulation Gold plated XLR direct output with selectable pre / post, and parallel 1/4" in/out Rugged extruded aluminum stomp-box style construction

Another update. After another hour of playing about with tonight (and a look through the manual lastnight) I'm getting to grips with this. I've realised that using it in 'play' mode is the best option, as I can then set up a set of 4 patches which I'l use most of the time. Then have an other bank with another 4 unusual sounds. A nice touch is that I can set up a clean tone on the first patch, but then have the Z-pedal set up to increase gain, meaning that its just a twist of the pedal and I get a more driven sound without using a new patch. Still not used it through my amp yet, but I think just a touch of tweaking of the patches I've made should be enough. A few pointers for people who are humming and hawing on pulling the plunger on this: 1: the big muff sounds great. Very thick and lots of bottom end. 2: Its pretty nice as a modeller too. Some of the amp models are very good! 3: The whole unit is rock solid, pretty heavy and seems to be built like a tank (including the expression pedal) 4: the Z-pedal is very usable, not just a gimmick. 5: Its actually pretty easy to navigate once you get passed the initial confusion (which might be just me, being a complete multifx newbie) 6: All the sounds have the possibility to mix in a dry signal so if its set up correctly, theres no loss of bottom end (once again this might be standard in fx units, i dont know) 7: aslong as you dont lob it down a flight of steps theres not much of a chance you're going to lose any money on it! There you go, 7 reasons to get one!

Got this this afternoon, and tried it for half an hour (via headphones and with a sh*tt*r of a bass) and my first thoughts are digital processing has come ALONG way since I last delved into multi FX 15 years ago! And it looks complicated! I've sat it down for a bit to have my tea and have a gander through the manual, but first impressions are very good!

Well I managed to convince myself and I went and got one of these from Gak. I've got a Hartke Bass Attack and although its a nice pedal, I dont think its for me. My whole pedal board at the moment only really does 3 noises. So its a lot of gear for not a lot of action. I'm hopin this might take over my whole effects needs. One thing I'm slightly worried about (which has been muted a bit by lurksalots review) is whether or not I have the option to constantly run a dry bass line signal. theres plenty outputs and no doubt I can do it via the 2 XLR outs, but I was hoping I could run a single line into my amp, with all this done via the software. I'l find out on monday when I get it, but I like to think about these things in advance! haha.

So how is this toy working out for folks? at 109 quid at the moment its well worth a punt I guess. Is it more of a toy than a pro bit of kit? The main things I'm interested in are the compressor, the noise gate, fuzz, OD and synth effects. Are these any good on them? On the youtube reviews I've not been overly impressed, and my last excursion into multi FX was 15 years ago with the zoom 506 which was very much a toy. The other question is, would it make me want to get rid of my seperate digitech synth wah and fuzz pedal?
Feel I better chip in to say I've got the HB head, not the combo, and its been great. I've been using it for gigs for the past couple of years paired with a BF Midget and its always surpassed my expectations. Its a very versatile amp tonally, and although its inherent tone is quite middy, once the color and contour controls are bought in you can totally dial the mids/top out and have a dub monster. The midget is a middy cab too but doesn't mind having more bass pushed to it, so I generally set the amp to Bass at 1 o'clock, bass boost engaged, Treble at 2 o'clock, EQ off (sometimes on with mid cut), and then use the contour control at 2 o'clock. It gives me a great deep but punchy tone that I really enjoy using. I've only pushed this amp to near max once at a gig in a huge cowshed, and it was still fine. Reliability wise, all I can say is that I've used it for 2 years with gigs pretty much once a fortnight and its never missed a beat. Its also got a pretty solid chassis as I can sit on it during rehearsal and the box doesn't flex at all. Great amp for the money. Mines already payed for itself I reckon.
thats exactly what I wanted to hear! Cheers for that!

This is as good a place as any to ask this question. I'm more interested in the harley benton version of this. Mainly because my plan would be to use it as a back up, and for the occasional gig where transportation is an issue ie once in a blue moon. Has anyone out there used these amps extensively? Any issues with reliability from long term usage? I was also looking at that B-stock one dude, and was thinking about taking the plunge! haha. If not, I may just keep an eye out for a 2nd hand one to get something supercheap.

I own one of these. I have no issues with build quality at all. Seems rock solid to me. Volume wise it'l not blow your face off, but I only ever use it as an extension cab, so Its all good. The tweeter is actually ok too. I normally turn tweeters off on most cabs, but this one sits about half on. Its quite hard for me to give a good review cos even although I've owned it for months, I've only ever used it on its own once for a bout 20 minutes. I honestly would just buy one, considering the price and if you were to sell it on, you're not gonna lose much!

Sound like theres guys in the same boat as me! Last nights gig again just annoyed me. All the gear was getting shoved in the back of quite a large estate car, and the only awkward piece of gear was my bass! Very frustrating. Not for long though. Yay! And the forums back up! Yes!

For 15 years I have used a padded gig bag. Never had any issues until it started to come away at the seams. 15 years was a decent innings though. For some strange reason I was adamant I wanted a hardcase. I got a cheapo one for £50. Absolutely delighted with it until I started to gig with it. Its horrible!! Massive, cumbersome and simply not practical. Going to gigs on a bus is a definite no and it doesnt even fit in in the boot of my car! I need to lay it along the back seat. So much so, I've just went and got another gig bag - looks nicely padded so should be good enough. I'l keep it just incase i ever go 'on tour' or even if If a bass is going into storage somewhere, but really, it was pretty much a waste of £50! I'm also quite annoyed at myself for getting a 4u case for my 2u lh500. It now makes my normal sized rig a nightmare to cart about. This is easily fixed I know, but I'm still pissed off at myself! Dont know why I've posted this, Just wanted to vent my frustrations! haha Fraser
Cheers guys, off to do research! Some good suggestions in here. Sibob, is that the Bass BB Pre or the Guitar version? Lefrash, is that the Joyo JF12? Green thing with a goat on the front! Paul, good tip, already started tying up my fingers and knackered brain with that! Ray, I've always fancied an eight string. But I'm very much a fingerstyle guy, do you need to use a pick to get that 8 string sound? Thanks again.
Thats the one! Its a bit naff with the octave option on its own, but as just an extra layer on your sound then it'l work nicely! lots of knobs to dial in a tone too. As a standard fuzz its ok too.
-
run a seperat loop (ls2 perhaps) with just a dirty pedal or a fuzz. Ive got a joyo octaver fuzz which does a fuzz one octave up. Have it runing all the time and hit the ls2 to kick in the 2nd loop. Instant extra rythym guitarist!

Cant beat a Hartke lh500. head. £200 second hand, and pick up a 1x15 cab from somwhere, decent rig. Might need to get a case for the head though so might be worthwhile budgeting that in.
Quick option may be to get in touch with Dave Hall, he brought out a micro blender recently and, depending on his circuit, I'd imagine switching from a blend control to two level controls might not be an issue. http://www.davehalla...uk/page55a.html
That looks very nice! And would easily do the job that most of us use an ls2 for! excellent price aswell!
