  1. Hi there I am selling my Lipstick Red 18V Kubicki Factor bass from 1988 (1124 09 88). This bass has been setup with a really low action and plays exquisitely. For a 35-year-old bass, the condition is amazing. The paintwork is near perfect and there are no dings or scratches to speak of. The only two things to point out is a bit of buckle rash on the back of the bridge and a bit of dark red blush on the bottom edge of the body near the input jack. I only just noticed it when taking the photos so it really isn’t obvious at all (I've tried to show the blemish in a couple of photos). Due to the great condition, I am asking £2,950 GBP. These basses are $5,000 new and dont have the Kudos of being made by Phil Kubicki and his small team in Santa Barbara. I am selling because I have a couple of Dingwall basses which I now play and I dont like moving between fanned frets and regular. My top class luthier has ensured the action is nice and low, checked the electronics are serviced and a new jack barrel has been installed. Its 100% gig ready. Its a reluctant sale but I gig infrequently these days and it would be sad for a bass like this to sit in its case year after year. I am located in the UK (North West England - so Preston/Lancaster/Manchester/Liverpool) and ideally I'd prefer collection in person. However, if the buyer wants to go to to the trouble to arrange all the postage so someone just collects from my door - at their cost, I will ensure its packaged securely. Price: Was £2,950 GBP now £2,850 GBP
  2. I have 1 complete set of Dingwall strings (.045, .058, .075, 0.98) and 1 set with the following: 1 x .058 1 x .075 2 x .098 so basically no G string and 2 E strings (dont ask, they came from Dingwall that way by mistake). Im using Stadium Elites on my Dingwall so these are not required. They are brand new. I will post first class (included in the £25) to the UK only. Thanks Damon
  3. I have a brand new set of DR Black Beauties high performance bass strings with gauge 40-100. £35 online but I will send first class for £25 including first class delivery. Let me know if interested. Post to UK only. Thanks
  4. Hi everone I'm taking delivery of a dingwall NG2 4 String next week. I really like light strings on my bass ideally 35-95 or there about. Has anyone any experience of lighter strings on this type of bass I.e. long scale with fanned frets. If so, what variety have you gone for. I spotted the HI-Beams and Elite Stadium strings day are quite long but I'm not sure if long enough. I may just end up going for the dingwall strings but they are heavier gauge than I'd ideally like. Any advice much appreciated. Damon
  5. What do these go for new? Do the fanned frets take a lot of getting used to? I do love the look. Cheers
  6. I have to tell you that I am very tempted indeed. In fact, I'm more thinking about the logistics as I am located up here in Blackpool. I'd drive down if it wasn't for this covid nonsense
  7. This is lovely... and I don't normally like bongos. What is the neck like compared to a stingray? Cheers
  8. Hello Ive been playing a Musicman Stingray for the past 15 years or so. Recently I purchased an Aria Pro SB-1000 in oak and have equipped it with some Black Beauties strings (light gauge). I have also had the action set ultra low as I like. Ive always loved the look and sound of the bass from the late 80's when I first got into playing after watching John Taylor of Duran Duran. Apart from getting used to the feel of the bass (which took a little time after playing the Stingray for so long), I just wanted some advice on which mode is most popular for playing live. I imagined that with 18V of active power and the 6 position active switch I would be spoilt for choice but what im finding is that the passive mode is giving me the power and warmth I need without going to active mode. I can also feel the passive mode working best for live as I play in a functions band so play rock, pop, soul, funk etc. I dont see the active settings as being very versatile for a varied set. Id love to know what other people feel about passive vs active in a live situation for the SB-1000. I feel that by not being in active mode im kind of not unleashing the power of the bass... but do love the sound im getting with passive mode. Thanks!
  9. It's a 15" plus horn cab with a 330w power amp, which is primarily designed to sit underneath a D-Bass 115 or 210 but it's also useful as a power amp/speaker. You could even use it run from a Line Out from a smaller combo to extend both the tone and volume of your amp and make a modular rig. It has its own Volume and Tweeter control and so you can add whatever you need. It uses the FFP speaker system which I found gave excellent controlled response at all volumes, and it produces a clear, uncoloured tone. When used with the D-Bass 115 it can run in full range or sub mode, and REALLY fills the sound out - tons of headroom at 660w the pair. It's pretty light, too, at less than 60lb, and it has holes for castors (im keeping the castors for my other amp). Bombproof Roland build quality, and these things retailed at an eye-watering £750+, so £200 is pretty much a bargain for either the ideal partner for a D-Bass combo, or as a versatile power amp/speaker for your favourite preamp or smaller combo. Really nice condition, no dinks, just the odd superficial scratch here and there. Only gigged with about a dozen times so the speakers have not taken a battering.
