I'll put my ash bodied bitsa up against any genuine Precision bass at any price for feel, spund and playability. Superb, and change from £130 to build.

That'll be for sale on a DHL drivers ebay account.

I had a go on a customers sunburst MB4 in Germany a while back and was very impressed. Great fretboard, lovely feeling neck, nice meaty rocking sound with a good high output, and impeccably finished. Ive played Squiers at nearly 4 times the price that were nowhere newr as nice all round. Thommann's pricing makes an utter mockery of nearly every bass in the £300-£400 range. Was going to buy the burst one but when I saw this on Music Radar last week I had an instant trouser tent.

Being a Jewish male I can assure you that the phenomenon to which you allude is most definitely not confined to the right.

Oh dear, never mind.

Im the opposite. Computer at home, but no smartphone - people show horrified disbelief when they ask me to scan the doobrey for check and trace and I tell them I can't.
-
I'd return it. You wouldn't see that on a Harley Benton at less than half the price, so I wouldn't accept it on a 330 sheet instrument.
-
Im a big fan of Entwistle Neos. They can hold their heads high among company costing 3 or 4 times the price. If Alnico tones are more your thing Wilkinson are worth a look too.

I'd suggest you use a more authoritative measuring device.

Since when wes 8.6lb considered heavy? That's 0.5 to 1 pound lighter than Fender claim for their P basses.

The word on the bass grapevine is that they punch seriously beyond their weight. You could spend 3 or 4 hundred sheets and not automatically get something that plays of feels better. IIRC Stew has one.
-
Is it true Stew that you named your kids Harley and Benton?

Ive told Mrs Bassfinger that thismis what I want for Christmas. Ive been eyeing the MB-4 anyway, but when I saw the article for this on the Music Radar website I nearly fainted with arousal.

Oh my giddy aunt... https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mb_4_sbk_deluxe_series.htm Cheap, and knowing Harley Benton it'll have plenty of cheer too.

I'll be lucky to tour beyond the village pub next yeae.

Music for pleasure vs for music viz learning
Bassfinger replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
It is much the same for me. There is stuff I make myself play to expand my technique and build my skills, and stuff I play for the sheer pleasure of it, and they are mutually exclusive. -
TBH, at those prices it isn't difficult to locate alder or ash bodies that aren't defective.

My book about being a bassist is published..!

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?

We've been here before with herd immunity. After two months only 4% of people of coronavirus sufferers still have antibodies. That's why herd immunity isn't happening, simply because not long after having it the once you become succeptible to catching it again. As for the OP premise, fingers crossed that is the case. I fear, however, that its may be many years before there are as many venues to play due to so many closing their doors permanently. -
Do you want to rock? If so what does it look like?

You dipped in and out of a classic rock station in the hope of hearing something other than classic rock? -
Just to be certain that I don't offend your sensibilities, if I ever see someone stealing your car stereo I'll just stand back and let them get on with it.

I remember in the 80's one of my neighbours caught some little sheet stealing from his car. Unfortunately for Johnny Scumbag my neighbour had served with the Malayan Scouts and was an expert in counter insurgency warfare, and it wasn't long before the light fingered herbert had "fallen down the stairs, officer" quite unpleasantly. Then the police turned up and he proceeded to fall down the stairs in the back of their van, which happened a lot back then. Shame.
