  1. I love the Bongo Shap and Big Al! 🤷‍♂️
  2. For me Thomann takes around 3-4 working days to ship to France. However there is often a day or two between me placing the order and it being dispatched.
  3. Absolutely, as well as it's ease and range of adjustment.
  4. By the time you've added some compression and other effects... I would imagine any difference would be completely lost.
  5. ... I agree it would be a nice little side project, maybe an engineering student out there could even make a undergrad project out of..
  6. I added a high mass bridge for aesthetic reasons, as with the mirror pickguard... it was my little nod to Phil Lynotts P-Bass.
  7. That would be interesting... although I don't have a string through bass at the moment. I did write a short script to do just this though.
  8. I'm sure I actually looked at this way back, but I will double check if they are back to front or not.... I am actually wondering to try a set of chrome tuners from HB, perhaps they are harder material, would also match the highmass bridge.
  9. Hi Stew, I've not been having a good time with the tuners on this bass, two of the gears got chewed up very quickly, Thomann sent me two replacements no hassle. However when I changed the strings after installing the new bridge, again the gears started to get chewed up and causing the tension to slip. I managed to tune up but I don't think they will last long now. I even lubricated them a little with some Vaseline as suggested a while back, but it seems the metal that the gear is made from is just way too soft for it's intended purpose.
  10. Always wear protection.
  11. You ben recommending this bass to folks? its great for the price and a good modding platform, if that ya thing.
  12. Just fitted fender high mass bridge... Needs a proper setting up.. strings are a bit clanky. I just need some decent chrome tuners now... The HB ones are awful, anyone got advice for direct replacements?
  13. zero effort pickguard
  14. Looks like the same guy that made Princes basses and guitars.
  15. .. kinda like tripe?
  16. oh dear... those pickguards..... 🤮
  17. Ahhh... this explains it. lol 😊 I should more carefully!
  18. The pickups remind of burns trisonic pickups as used in copies of Brian May's Red Special.
  19. hahaha... indeed... your bang on! Maybe those Soviet Luthiers were longing for the lone-star state themselves.
  20. Surely the Elephant man of the bass world. ..?
  21. Never seen this before .. ever... Fender prototype from the 70's?
  22. Stunning top! 😍
  23. An unfathomable void!
  24. I don't know why, but I can just imagine them being made of car body filler...
  25. I really like the 4&5 strings versions in solid colours.
