  1. Not the worst, but I see what you mean... for me its the mixture of angles lower down curves above... looks like two different designs if you draw a line across the slightly offset waist.... but it has a trem!!
  2. Hahaha, I love the Bongo shape and even more so the Big Al shape... quite happy to depart from the safe soft curves of the familiar. brilliant 🀣
  3. Hey all, Browsing around internet whilst sitting on the throne.. as one does, I happened across this Ibanez bass on Anderson's secondhand section. I know it's subjective.... But man it sure looks like an acquired taste to me.
  4. Having just discovered Geddy Lee (I'm still fairly new to bass guitar) I would say he has to be on the verge of genius.... Playing those bass lines and singing over the top of them.. is pretty special. For me his it's his technique I find incredible, it's like his attacking the bass... Like a battle of sonic wills between him and his bass... Geddy: "You will give me this tone, you will conform".... Jazz Bass: "Ouch... You're plucking waaay too hard.... Put me down" ........Ok maybe I need to reign in my imagination a little ☺️
  5. You still got the stock pickups in Stew?
  6. Bump: Beautiful looking instrument! Wife and I spent a lovely few days in Lucca a few years back, pretty town with impressive walls and not as touristic as Florence etc. 😍 GLWTS! πŸ‘
  7. Lovely instrument... however I am equally impressed by you immaculate lawn grass!!! Kudos to you! GLWTS
  8. Apparently when he was 16 he said to the camera guy should he do it naked, then decided it was not a good idea.... hopefully this will get laughed out of court... but then again. If you google him 'Spencer Elden' you discover he is an artist.... a pretty bad one from the looks of it and most likely skint, hence the lawsuit.
  9. Indeed, check out the Harley Benton PB-20 SBK here .... I also have a Fender high mass bridge to fit to it too... still not gotten around to that... but will repost some photos when I do.
  10. The graphic is easily removed thankfully. Lovely basses, I have one that has been defretted, really lightweight bass comfortable neck. GLWS.
  11. It's the weekend and my Fender high mass bridge and chrome knobs just turned up from Thomann πŸ™.... Can't wait to get the bridge fitted to my PB20-SBK, but first I need to finish of my matlab script for taking those samples with the standard bridge and then the high mass bridge... geek fest! Bon week-end a tous!
  12. I understand the cause is the server provider Gorilla Servers had a fire, the EEVBlog has also been affected by this too.
  13. Salut John, et bienvenue ma pote
  14. I think you're right πŸ€”πŸ‘ŒI was looking at one a few days ago but it didn't have any padding.
  15. Ok, so I couldn't wait and after dinner decides to fit my new pickguard. Looks awesome but as you can imagine verynwasily smudged but also scratches pretty easily too... Have to see how that works out in the long run. I also fitted the @KiOgon circuit/loom, the difference it makes is significant, I'd suggest fitting one of these before investing in pickups. Note KiOgon pot shafts measured 9.5mm, so I slightly larger than the HB original pots which meant I had to drill the holes out a little with a 10mm drill bit. Was a bit rough because I think you need a really high speed with this material to avoid taking chunks out, but it worked out fine. Thanks to KiOgon, apologies it took me 6 months to actually fit your nice 0.1uf kit ☺️. Just for info measured my standard HB pickups at 7.3k Ohms, significantly lower than compared to the toneriders which are 10.6k Also treated it too a quick fret polish and some lemon oil and a string change. Next job is Fender high mass bridge... I'm going for the Phil Lynott look if you hadn't already guessed. ☺️
  16. Just recieved my mirror pickguard this afternoon, will put a photo up this weekend. πŸ‘
  17. So So I had a quick play around with this idea tonight. I have been able to capture and perform a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) on a open A note which has a frequency of 55Hz. As you can imagine there are harmonics included, notably the second and third harmonics at 110Hz and 165Hz respectively. This was captured using my HB PB-20 with standard bridge.. Please see attached image files below. I plan to do this for all strings at several intervals above and below the 12th fret and see if there is any change in the length of the note and the frequency contents. I will create a new thread for this somewhere more relevant in due course.
  18. That's gonna look great! Mine should arrive tomorrow πŸ™
  19. Pics dude! πŸ™
  20. Yikes!!!! Ive been thinking of doing an A/B like this with a. High mass bridge, but also taking the waveforms and doing an fft to look if the frequency content has changed, i.e if there are more harmonics or more fundamental present.
  21. I understand that neodymium magnets give that modern 'hifi' like tones and Alnico V more classic tones. However when all said and done most of it is in the fingers.... I know this because my instruments always sound heaps better in someone else's hands 🀣
  22. Sounds like the Entwhistle pickups are indeed a more modern flavour.
  23. That would be really interesting, I will measure mine when I replace my pickguard too.
  24. Cool, going to replace mine soon. I was wondering how hot the originals are? Did you by any chance measure their resistance when you removed them?
