That's true..! it puts out a square waveform for probe calibration.

My scope doesn't have a function generator built in, I may invest in one if it's a useful to have one, Here is a photo of my scope with a sawtooth waveform generated by an arduino and screen capture of a 12-bit DAC chip I was messing around with.

Hi All, I want to start building my own pedals, and thinking of starting off with one of the full kits from Jed's Peds, I don't have a chorus pedal or a compressor pedal (I currently use the compression on my spectra drive). I have seen a PCB online for the original EHX Clone Theory, minus the transformer. Wonder if anyone had built a clone of the clone already? What test kit do you guys have, I already have a decent 4 channel, 1Gs/s DSO and a cheapish multimeter, which might not be that accurate for measuring some component values. Any advice and recommendations greatly appreciated. Cheers
  4. How ddid this work out? I thought these required 18v DC, originally they used a transformer 36v secondary, centred tapped at 18v and then rectified and regualted... I could of course be wrong.
  5. Hi All, I was looking recently at the SoundBrenner Core watch, it seems like an interesting concept, just wondered how useful it actually is compared to just using an app on your phone for example... Is it worth the outlay or is it just a. Bit of gimmack.. Does anyone have any experience? Cheers
  6. Nice job, yea its a lovely instrument for the money.
  7. Difficult to say.. I guess only time will tell... Maybe after a decade of frequent solid playing
  8. Hi Hooky, Indeed I took your advice applied a bit of vaseline with a cotton bud and wound them back and forth a bit and that when I had the issue... The metal is too soft for the purpose.
  9. I pulled removed the old strings they didn't feel great, and I gave the fretboard a good clean, as too had a white coloured residue on mine.. I will give the frets a quick polish when I next remove the strings. As I mentioned be aware potential problems with the machine heads slipping and chewing up the gear.
  10. I'd look at HB fretless offerings.
  11. Let us know how that works out 👍👍
  12. Thanks for the tips on the humming issue guys, i've not had chance to check it out any further yet. However I will be doing soon as I have one of Kiogan's nice looms to drop in there. I agree the stock pickups have low output, I think I will treat it to some Wilkinsons as previously mentioned. Howver i have a problem, that two of the tuners are knackerd, as the metal gear is too soft for the job, Thomann are sending me a couple of replacements out under warranty, but to be honest I might well just replace them with some Wilkinson tuners.
  13. It could be the fact that the spectra drive isn't actually earthed. It's just a two pin plug on the power supply....🤔
  14. Yea exactly... There are many variables as you say, manufacturers interpretation plus individual subjectivity being the obvious ones.. Thomann have a nice returns policy... Free return postage. I returned a Mustang CV earlier this year.. poor QC sadly... Over spray on the neck a significant scratch on the fretboard etc.. but they took it back no problems.
  15. Hi Stew, Did you feel the need to improve the shielding at all? I am experiencing some fair amount of hum using my spectra drive when touching the strings. I don't have an amp with me at the moment, in order to tell if it's down to the spectra drive or the guitar. Cheers
  16. This was my concern when buying it, but have to say i'm pleased, I don't find it too chunky at all, I was a little concerned over this aspect as my first bass is a Yamaha TRBX304 that has a really slim neck, but the HB is still perfectly playable for me... I think the satin painted neck also helps a bit too.
  17. I'd say its reasonably slim... not as slim as on my TRBX304... Don't know if there is a specific way of measuring that I could do to help give a more useful idea.
  18. Thanks for putting us in contact 👍
  19. Where or how do I obtain a Kiogon Loom, from searches I get the impression is a supplied by someone on the forums? Cheers
  20. Hahaha, They are desperately needed!
  21. Could go full stealth and put black nylon wounds on too!!
  22. Thanks for that lownote I will check them out too.
  23. AHH really! Thanks for clarifying! That would have been a dissapointment! Cheers
  24. I've seen Enwistle now do Alnico V Neodymium they are called PBXN ... Hmmmm 🤔 decisions lol I would like a vintage tone as I already have two basses that have a modern tone.
  25. Thanks for the tip on the Vaseline... will defffo give that a shot!! Ahh... Entwhistle... I will have a look at that possibility too, thanks for the info.
