Pic and / or serial number may help, and I'll send it out to all I know in the UK.

That's just strange. I imagine where he works, "Julie" in the photocopying room hides behind a filing cabinet each time she sees him coming down the hallway.
It can be difficult to integrate into a new forum. Most have their own cliques and if you happen to disagree with one of the 'in-crowd' then you might aswell not bother posting at all as it just gets ignored.
Too true. However, I remember one post from a newcomer a few months ago asking for advice on a song he couldn't sort. About 20 members replied with various helpful viewpoints and there was no response whatsoever from the OP. That, I find a bit off. Most on here are happy to offer advice and when they do, it would be nice to acknowledge their input. Re the sales forums, I must admit that I tend not to buy anything from anyone with zero presence on BC but that's just me being cautious, no principles involved.

The Coolest Bass Player On The Planet
leschirons replied to Pete Academy's topic in General Discussion
Not necessarily the best. Living or dead. My choice is Marcus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2dnerYZs-c...feature=related
A good choice and a worthy second place to Lee Sklar -
I didn't mind that at all to be honest. I think the singer is a Stevie Wonder stalker. However, he can sing. As you say Stevie / JK melange. Loved the drummer. Bass player? can obviously play, and a bit of posing never caused any trouble did it? I general, I liked it.
Now on hold in preparation to go to France! Oddly the only other 2 things I've sold here have gone to Eurozone countries - something to do with the devaluation of the £ Vs Euro I think that makes our second hand market cheaper!
The secondhand market in France has always been more expensive than the UK. I don't quite understand the mindset but people here expect back, what they paid for something 5 years previous, irrespective of condition or, advertise gear with the tag "tres rare" attached to it and expect 500 euros for a battered OLP bass.
Having had to do some work on Jam songs recently, I can confirm that there are in fact at least four Jam tracks from which Macca nicked that line
Bloody hell I never knew that!! He should be locked up same as Lennon should have been for pinching all the Oasis songs. -

Bloody McCartney, nicking a Bruce Foxton bassline. Typical. -
I'm doing one last gig with a band doing the classic rock stuff (AC/DC, Guns, Lizzie, ZEP etc) as I've come to a decision that I don't really enjoy it anymore. I've always listened to, played, and appreciated other genres like Prog, Funk, Soul, Disco, Blues/Jazz crossover but usually found myself in the rock covers arena. I recently started another band with the Mrs and we're doing stuff from Sade', Carole King, Cyndi Lauper and even Laura Nyro and to be honest, it turns me on so much more than the usual Boys are back in town opener and the big Sweet child of mine finish. However, I don't view this as moving on or in, another direction. Just adding more to my personal repetoire. All the previous stuff has just been relegated to the top shelf of the library, but still there for the use of.

Saw them a few years back in Brentwood. Had Georgie Fame and Martin Taylor on board. A great band.
'Ello all. I am fairly new to the site and have enjoyed reading here for the last couple of weeks, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm an ageing Tattooed/Hippy/Rocker/Wannabe Cowboy/Miserable Bugger/Hyperactive Child. I have been playing since 1987, when I was 12. And I'm still not very good, certainly not all those years good. I'd love to get into a band but, other than being a bit rubbish, there are other problems... I live in a small village a few miles outside of Carmarthen in Wales, but I never learned to drive so I might as well be on the Moon. The stuff I'd like to play is quite heavy, Thrash/Death/Black/Blackened Death etc... I mentioned this in a local (ha!) guitar shop once and he actually said "Yeah, we had someone in here talking about that stuff a few years ago", 'oh' dear' I though to myself. Any time I've mentioned to musicians that I play Bass they always point me towards the kind of covers groups that makes me want to shrivel up and die inside (the sort that plays Pop music with a singer playing an acoustic guitar and a keyboard player and nothing else). Another thing is that I have absolutely no intention of making any money whatsoever at this, I don't care if it never leaves the livingroom/garage, I just want to get together with some nice people and write some cool music. And it's never going to happen. The last time I played in a 'proper' band I was 17. I adored that band but I had to move to another town and had to leave the band. I've never got past the 'Yeah, we should totally do something!' phase, since. My gear as listed on my MySpace page: Cort T35 Aria Pro II, Magna series Mab 20/5 Wesfield 4 string Peavey T-Max 500 Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro Peavey 410TX 4x15" cabs Dean Cadillac SE Cort headless Flying V Boss GX-700 Zoom GFX-707 Laney Linebacker 100 BMA stereo 500 Encore acoustic Fender Banjo An old classical Mahalo Ukulele I am a Bass player, it's what I started as and it's what I love. The other stuff is just for messing about with. My gear isn't brilliant but I have never been able to warrant spending a lot of money on it. I would if I could find an excuse/band. As soon as I can get my wits together for long enough to learn how to use the programs I intend to do some recording myself. Well, that's me. Nice to meet you.
Welcome aboard, that's some pretty long list of gear for a self confessed living room bassist. It's good here, loads of nice people and loads of info.

Trade / exchange. Markbass CMD103
leschirons replied to leschirons's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Hi Kieth,What no more Roast Beef and Frogs Legs, Hope you and Teresa are well,Best Wishes Rich
Hi Rich, Only dep with them nowdays. I'm packing in the heavy rock 4 piece. Bit too much of a strain on the voice and the back with all the gear. Tend to be playing a bit more laid back stuff now so could make do with something smaller. Regards to Jacky and hope to see you if you come out this summer. K&T -
Looking to trade / exchange my Mark bass CMD 103 (3x10) combo. 59 now and with only one more rock gig to do before hanging up the snakeskin trousers and bandana, I feel it’s time to go small and even lighter as I’m playing smaller venues and more laid back music with other bands. Good condition and really only needs 15 mins with a brush and vacuum cleaner. No cover. Please be aware that these are rated 6 ohms and unable to take an extension cab. But they do pump out 400 watts and can handle everything my active 6 string throws at it with ease and hi-fi quality. So, if anyone is looking to move a little more air, I’m ideally looking for a 1x12 combo, 2x10 at very max, light, preferably 300 – 350 watts, absolute minimum of 200 watts. (EA, Mark bass, Eden etc) If I get the odd bigger gig, I can always link up a Nemesis combo I also have. Whatever you have must be able to easily handle a low B. No problem getting this over to the UK at my expense but ideally someone in the London / Essex area would be good. These retail for about £1,150 now I’m sure you can decide what mine / yours, is worth. Not looking to get any cash my way as I don’t want anything of lesser quality but I’m always up for a trade if yours is of lesser value. Don’t really want to spend anything on top either.

I bought one when they first came on the market from a pal who had a music shop so, I had a choice of five and picked the best one. Played really nice. It was for a present for a friend who has now sadly passed away and I ended up with the bass again. I've defretted it and its fabulous. Wouldn't part with it at all, even leaving the sentimental factor out of the equation. Gut I know bought one of the last ones, and it's terrible.
I had a couple of show this afternoon and the board I was plugging my Orange into was using Phantom Power I was a little worried about it damaging the amp, I phoned Orange to ask them, the guy who answered said he didn't know and he'd get someone to call me back, within 20 mins I had a call from one of their techs who answered my question in a really helpful, friendly manner, top service.
Nice to hear that someone is prepared to help all they can when you need it.

I recently bought some stuff from Nick (monquixote) what a nice helpful BC'er. Really reliable and does what he says he'll do. Great deal too. Great comms. Deal with confidence.

A nice surprise weekend away for the wife (and you of course) Put the rest in the bank for when you don't meet your targets next month. -
First, get the police to check under the stalker's patio. Second, I know a guy who can get you a false identity, I'll PM the number. Third, write the next chapter, I'm hooked. On the other hand, it could be good fun and just Rock 'n'roll.

Help! (Please) Riff driving me mad!!!!!
leschirons replied to Fingerslikesausages's topic in Bass Guitars
Hi there Complete virgin, only been playing for six months or so.Trying to get to grips with a few songs, as some like minded lads are tring to put a band together. As were all into the Scooter Scene it's mostly 60's, so I know most of the tunings are out on recordings. I'm having trouble with the Birds "Leaving Here". I know, I know, it's easy as falling off the proverbial, but however many times I listen to the track I can't work out the little run at the end. I'm playing A C D D A as the main riff then A DDD as the little shuffle which repeats 3 times it's the bit after that I can't fathom I think it starts with A and then there's a 3 note run, but I'm ****** if I can work it out. If anyone knows the song, could they please help as I'm going crazy trying to sort it. Also is it as straightforward as it sounds, or does anyone have any variations for it? Thanks in advance.
Great band the Birds. From memory (of having seen them play this live) you're right so far and then I think the notes are AAGA (if we're talking about the same part of the song that is) You doing "No good without you baby" as well? -
What do you guys play when sound checking
leschirons replied to gt4ever's topic in General Discussion
One of our guitarists said the other day: "I still can't belive that you turn up, plug in, tune up, play a few notes and are ready to play while we haven't even got our guitars plugged in." It's an experience and confidence thing. Keep your powder dry until the first chord. You'll eventually get to the point of knowing where to set your volume based on the size of the venue without playing a note.
+1000 -
What do you guys play when sound checking
leschirons replied to gt4ever's topic in General Discussion
Even after soundcheck I see the sound guy working to get all levels right during our first song or two. I think it's not very professional (even if we're amateurs) to start without a basic check. Call me picky, but then I am happy to hear compliments on the band's sound after the gig. Or maybe we have a veyr bad soundguy, since you can get it all right in 15 seconds
My reply applies to regular venues that we know. I know most here will dissagree but I just hate sound checks. Having the opportunity to soundcheck in a large empty venue is not a luxury I have too often. We don't have an engineer but we know how it needs to sound. These are not pro band venues and so many times I've been asked to soundcheck, in front of half the audience, playing the first number in the set, only to repeat it 20 minutes later. So, now I say no. -
Go, go, go. Well done.
