Telecaster thinline (semi hollow) in natural, 10/10 condition. NOT original Fender. Bought a luthier body here in France, neck from Ebay, a pair of Epiphone burstbuckers and had Fender logo added professionally. Assembly work done by luthier. Looks better than an original, plays as good as an original. Stands me in (in parts alone) 330 euros and has looks to die for. £295 as it just hangs on the wall at present. Forgot to mention, I had a Strat bridge put on so comes with a trem (just for fun) Will come in a gigbag and boxed securely too. Delivery to UK (insured) would be €31 (about £26) Or, if sold this week, have the opportunity to send it back with a friend (Kent area) and have it couriered from UK a bit cheaper. I have a want for a BN6 F.bass so there will be loads more stuff coming up shortly. (My BN5, another Tele (Mex) USA Baretta, 84-87 Squire Jap Strat etc.

Is he lazy or unenthusiastic? If it's the latter, although you don't want to lose him, suggest that maybe he takes a break from playing and see what he says. Maybe there's something a bit deeper going on and you'll find out. I've played about 50 gigs this year and I'm fed up with them but I put that down to my advanced years and just getting a bit too tired of all the effort involved. Last night's gig was a good one but thats because it was 1km away and I knew everybody in the audience. We played really well and enjoyed it. However, I can see me packing up gigs and bands altogether next year and being content to sit at home and mess about in the studio on my own. I've never suffered from nerves re performing in public but it's all just too much effort now to go out and entertain people although I still get immense pleasure from noodling on a bass or guitar on my own.

Basschat Awards: Gigging in the face of Adversity

Here's mine although, as I wasn't injured or ill at the time, it may not count. 2 years ago at our local music festival, I supplied the bass rig, drums and P.A, and mixed two of the 6 bands. Was there for a total of 14 hours and in between, played a set with my band (bass) then with a blues band (lead guitar) a French pop rock band (bass) another French rock band on drums and slotted in a lead guitar solo for a solo keyboard player. All these buggers turned up with someone missing on the day?? Only in France. Do I win £5? -
Heaven is a place on earth by Belinda Carlisle (great X factor key change at the end) Every day is a winding road Mercy Magic man (Heart) Jane by Jefferson Starship (or airplane) If you want the ultimate power ballad, check out the Terry Reid version of "Stay with me baby"
Of course, I can't start possibly by saying anything about myself, because it will look like I have a lack of humility and being arrogant, so over to you
That will probably apply to most of us but it will be intetersting to keep an eye on this thread.

Can listening to music benefit my child?
leschirons replied to Bloc Riff Nut's topic in General Discussion
After our daughter was born, as a baby, the only thing that would stop her crying and get her to sleep was playing Rosanna by Toto. -

When I practice at home, I must say that I'll end up spending maybe 10 mins on slapping but it seems an unconcious thing. I don't plan it. Just sort of end up doing it. Get the OP's point about demos though. It's all overdone.

Seriously cheesy listings but, I think she's quite attractive. Certainly no space hopper.

My opinion, for what it's worth is that your vocalist can get there with a little bit of work. If, as you say, he connects with the audience, you are not going out as an out and out trib band, but a pub band doing possibly only, or a majority of U2 numbers, I think you should all stick with it. Musically, it works very well. He may be a huge U2 fan but maybe he's not actually sung any of these songs in previous bands. Like him or not, Bono's a hard act to follow, but not impossible. It's only anal musos that are going to smirk about a song being a semitone or two down. Fair enough if you're charging £25 for a trib ticket, but you're not. He's actually got some quality to his voice on lower registers with a nicely controlled vibrato. All he needs is to go for it with confidence on this stuff. If you have to change keys, it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll kill the song due to not having use of open strings etc on guitar. I used to do some Police stuff in another band. The guitarist would use a capo when we needed to change keys due to vocals. Won't work 100% of the time but it's another weapon in the arsenal. Most pub punters will enjoy the performance due to the songs you're playing. And of course, no one wants 8 months of hard work down the pan.

Songs you thought you'd never enjoy playing

Abba stuff. Hate the band, appreciate the writing talent, absolutely LOVE the basslines. Rutger's the man. -
Played a blinding gig last night...
leschirons replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
I sympathise with both of you. It can all get very one sided at times. Makes me think that one day I'll just say f*** it and do home recording on my own and the odd dep. Seems in both your cases you have a good thing going with each of your drummers so maybe try and find some like minded people to join up with. -
Lost the final of the battle of the bands last night by one point. Oh well. The winners were a really good originals trio, very polished and they'd seriously thought about their songwriting with regard to their line up. At no point did I, or anyone I spoke to, think, they could have done with another guitar or a keyboard on that one etc. They just tipped the voting by slipping in a really funky version of Voodoo chile, their only cover of the night. (Can't beat the old favourites) I was using their bassplayer's Trace 500 head and a 1x15 cab. I used to use a TE rig and then moved to Eden for about 4 years and now, onto a Markbass 3x10 due to weight and have been really happy with it however, last night, I really found it a welcome change to be back on TE gear. So easy to get a great sound. Quite nostalgic. Although it wasn't me that had to load it into a car afterwards so maybe it was just selective memory. Still, a great night all round.

How the hell did this bass player not realise ??

Now this, is out of tune. (Lead solo that is) Bass is quite cool. -

Sounds fine for the era to me. Bit of a floppy string maybe with over enthusiastic playing. As someone said, probably done in one take, and he probably only got $25 for the session. Has a great raw feel to it in my opinion. -
Thanks for that, great stuff, great feel to it. Love it. Although, just checked out three live Youtube vids and each one has a different drummer. They're not a funk version of Spinal Tap are they?

Bass Lines That Everyone Recognises
leschirons replied to Pete Academy's topic in General Discussion
I would guess the man in the street is only likely to put a name to the song where the bassline actually starts the song. I don't think the punters would recognise anything I play, but then again nor do the band. -
I do loads of summer gigs in restaurants, outdoors. The bain of my life....chip fryers. They never fail to to trip the electrics.

A taste of honey with a hunny playing a jazz...
leschirons replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
You're too ill to think about bassplayers that look like that. -
Know what you mean. Sometimes its a pleasant surprise to find that you've nailed something easily, that you thought was going to be harder. I thought I was going to have an issue with Going underground some years ago as it sounded like a lot of work to get it right. The right sound and feel were the more important things.
