1. Thanks everyone who answered. All views will be passed on. Thanks again,
  2.
It's blue... you've just halved its value right there! If he's putting it up for sale on here I'd suggest finding the nearest comparable bass that has sold on eBay or Basschat recently and then sticking on £100; that gives room to drop the price if it doesn't get snapped up. Alternatively he could put it up for what he paid for it, even if that means he has to later reduce his price... if he gets swamped with buyers he can do what others have done and pull the sale then advertise it for more. I would imagine that if they can't give an accurate idea over on a Status dedicated site you'll struggle to get a better idea here because it'll all be guess work and supposition.
Probably right on all counts. Thanks for taking the time.
nice bit o'wood on the right there
Beat me to it, nicer than mine.
  4.
MB1. Posted in wrong area....You could try contacting Rob Green at Status or post a picture of it!
It's in "Bass guitars" too but I thought more chatters would notice here. There is a not very good pic in the other thread. If the mods feel it's best deleted here then that's fine, I'll leave it in the other section. Thanks for the advice.
  5.
Quite a rare beast this one. I would say that the value would be around £800 given it's a graphite through neck model. Wooden neck series ones go for around £400 to £500, and bolt on graphite necks around £600. This is approximate and depends on the condition and market forces... Wil
Thanks, I'll pass that on.
  6. Friend of mine is selling his Status as he's changed to guitar. He has no idea of a fair and resonable price to ask as he can't find any info and has nothing to compare. He contacted the Statii site for advice and had one reply from some guy who says it's only worth such and such but he'd be interested. (Alarm bells) This is the info from the warranty card. It is cased, with all the original case candy and documentation, NOT a bolt on, in nearly 10/10 condition after 18 years of having one owner from new. I say nearly 10/10 as it is after all 18 years old but looks new. As far as I'm aware, the Series 1 is not the same as an S1 but what do I know? Maybe one of you knows better. Model; series 1 headed ( 4 string) Blue sunburst serial no; 1418 Date of completion; 22/10/92 Facing wood ; ash Finish; Polyester Circuit ; stack Pickups; Hyperactive J / J. Mould finish; Woven Graphite Any help appreciated.

  8.
Trawls memory banks - wasn't he the guy that did Wide eyed and legless around 1979? Looked a bit different then, but didn't we all!
And lead singer in Amen corner. Re the bass, it looks like every black P.bass owned by Basschatters who decided to upgrade the pickups and pick-guard.
  9. Damn, missed that. Huge fan of James Taylor, Carole King & Lee Sklar. Great tunes that all stand the test of time, played really well. Most of her stuff is really do-able on just an acoustic guitar too. Really works well. Bit cheesy for some on here but "How sweet it is etc" with Sanborn on the solo is one of my fave tracks.
  10. Read 90% of the posts on this and have to say the only thing that made me sit up and take notice is silddx's 4lb 1oz Crucian Carp. Ergo, I play in a covers band (and enjoy it)
  11. "The boys are back in town" in the rock band (obvious I guess but it hits them between the eyes) "I can't stand the rain" in the covers party band. "Help the poor" in another little funky blues outfit.
  12. Welcome, Have fun, enjoy Basschat, lots of help and good advice here and a real community spirit. Anyone who says you're too old at 24 to learn an instrument never achieved their own ambitions. You go for it.
  13.
Would probably be easier to find someone who looks like Adam Clayton (begin the search in a school humanities department and it shouldn't take too long), then spend an afternoon teaching him to play bass guitar to the required standard.
Wouldn't it be funny if Adam Clayton auditioned and didn't get the gig.
  14. I have a bit more info now. She's importing free Karaoke MIDI files from a site and then hoping to change the usual crappy GM sounds for better patches. She says the software "wants" to look for VST files and her Roland patches are WAV. So, guys and gals, where does put us now?
  15. Firstly, Thanks all for all your help and suggestions. I have started to compile all comments in an e-mail to pass on to her tonight. If she gives me any further info, I'll post it here. Thanks again, what a helpfull bunch you are. Thanks, keith
  16.
Could she not just use some sort of VST plugin to play the sounds or something?
I did suggest that there may be a plug-in of some sort to enable this but she, or I, are not really up on all this. I have no knowledge of home recording and she wants to create backing tracks to sing over. I'll pass on your suggestion and hope she knows what I'm talking about. Thanks for your time and suggestion.
  17.
Beat m eto it - What makes a bad bass player? Other people's opinions.
Spot on
  18. Bad or great is all a matter of opinion. I suppose if you mean technically bad, there's probably loads of famous ones. For me, it's not just the level of ability, but all the other bits that go to make up a good musician from my point of view. Being open to the ideas of others. Turning up on time. Being easy to get on with. Always happy to learn something new. Puts in the work away from gigs and rehearsals. That's how I try to conduct myself but I know it doesn't exactly make me a good bassplayer, just a bit easier to get along with and more likely to stay in a band (providing the others are like-minded)
  19. Anyone here use Samplitude. A friend of mine has bought this home studio package (version 14) and has also purchased from Ebay, a couple of disks full of Roland sounds. She tells me that the program has no option for importing the patches, only for using the built in ones. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks
  20.
with Stetson, and soggy vocalist.
Give me your vocalist's address and I'll send him some Lynx. (Cool hat by the way)
  21. Beedster made a very good point re mic height. I sing 90% lead vox in a rock band and it's very important. It can make all the difference between great confident projection and sounding like your next door and mumbling. Also, with a female singer (I'm in a covers band with one of those) we find that she prefers keys higher than the originals in many cases. It's best to practice along with the original so I import the original MP3 into Audacity, change the key without affecting BPM and then sing along. BVs an octave below can work really well if it's more comfortable for you. I think it's Starship with Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas?? (Might be wrong) but I seem to remember she has the low voice and he has the really high parts. Sounds great. Best of luck. Practice is king. (Preferabley whilst you're playing the bass)

Thoughts go out to his family and friends. Sadly missed.
  23. Phew, that's a relief, after reading all the posts, it would appear that there's only me, and Bryan Adams doing Summer of 69.
  24.
Time to let 'old faithful' go. 210 watts (thru' 1 x 15" Black Widow) of window cracking power, easily keeps up with any drummer, fills pubs and small clubs. Very good condition, never let me down yet. I added a 4ohm extension cab (this brings her up to 300watts) recently for fun and believe me, you don't need it ! You know what one looks like but if you want a pic, I'll put one up. I'm looking for £150 Earth Pounds although I'm open to offers. I'm only letting it go 'cos I'm upgrading and need the cash to stop the wife moaning.
Ah, nostalgia, my first bass rig. Awsome watts to pounds ratio. Solid as a rock and reliable. Best of luck with the sale. Great combo and not expensive.
