Hi John, Welcom to basschat. I've been through Valkenburg and I reckon your rig is the biggest thing there.

Really bizarre. We played at a club that will now close for the winter. They had a guest musician for the break in between our two sets. He was a bassplayer who played along to two recorded club tracks. Both tracks were Em based and he spent 20 minutes peddling C and 5th, D and 5th and E and 5th. Weird. It can only happen in France.

There were obviously a few that won't be asked back for a second audition so that's really promising. Hope it works out.

I was watching, an early 4 string Overwater on Ebay yesterday. It's now finished. Although it was not my sort of bass, I can't believe it finished at £283.00 Someone got a bargain. Maybe it was a lucky BC'er.

Used to see a local band in the early 70's with two bassplayers. They were called something like Maladed Brean.

Feel for you there. Last week I depped as second guitar to help someone out. Just some pop and rocky blues and Hendrix covers. The guitarist told me he'd been playing for 45 years so I guessed I'd stay back in the mix, expecting some sort of Trower/Malmsteen monster to start up. He totally lost the plot on Can't get enough of your love and then proceeded to tell me it was because he wasn't using his own amp and he can usually play that solo backwards. In fact, that's what it sounded like. Well, you know not to go there again. Stick to musos who are up to your level.

When I first joined BC, one of my first postings was about the intervention of a nickel allergy in my life. This had been confirmed, or rather, diagnosed by two French GPs. Anyway, about 5 months ago, I was prescribed a tube of ointment called Locoid 0,1%. It seems to have done the job, at least for me anyway. I put it on every night and also before a gig or rehearsal. It's not greasy and rubs right in. This is only available on prescription here and I imagine it's the same in the UK. Do not try to source this without asking your GP first and of course, it may not work for you but it did for me. Last week, I had 3 reahrsals and two long gigs over 5 days. No problems whatsoever. Just thought I'd pass this on.

It's fairly easy to work out. Take the length of the wire in mm, multiply by the ohmage, divide by the usual hourly labour charge and then add two thirds of your house number, then add, the number of slices your toaster takes. Answer? probably about £15.00 at a repair shop.

I bought one when they first came out (in natural) for a mate's 40th birthday present. When I got it out of the box to try it and check it over before wrapping it, I didn't want to give it to him. I also bought an OLP Axis 6 string for my brother's birthday. That was just as good and he still uses it 6 years on.

Good work at good prices and they're as mad as hatters. Can do it all over the phone and do samples for approval.
