  1. I had a couple of private bass lessons with him at his house.
  2. I'd probably stick Head hunters on any list.
  3. Maybe it would be easier if manufacturers like Fender didn't produce about 7,000 different options for buying a Strat shaped guitar. Does the market really dictate a need for all these different options what with USA, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Mexican and Chinese models? No wonder pricing is a nightmare, there's too much unnecessary choice. Back in the good old days, you either bought a Strat, or you didn't. The only options were colours. I get the "cheaper version" idea in order to appeal to a less affluent buyer but now it's got ridiculous. It's hardly surprising that retailers can't keep up.
  4. I watched an Xmas special Top of the pops and the George Ezra Shotgun thingy was the only name and song I recognised. It's not helping immersing myself in stuff like Take the A train, Blue bossa, Autumn leaves and Have you met Miss Jones etc since I got the upright. I can see our function band swapping me for a younger model.
  5. Never play NYE as we always prefer to throw a party for friends, and family if they can get over. About 60 here last night. Got to bed at 5.30 this morning. Now I think of it, probably less work and less tiring to play😂
  6. Not worth posting a pic of what you need? Might find something a bit nearer than the States.
  7. Didn't that involve Andy Stewart and Moira Anderson?
  8. From my daughter. Main pressie from the wife was the Bassix EUB.
  9. I'd have to agree. Plus, You only live twice of course😂
  10. Time after time and True colours. You Tube is smothered with acoustic versions of both. They work well. Perfect day also works well. My wife is in a choir that does anything from Sanskrit chanting to Creep (wouldn't suggest that one for year 7 though)😂
  11. No-one can deny she's famous and she's certainly had a successful career over a 30 year period despite very serious health problems at times. Leaving aside any physical attributes, I think she probably deserves her status. Incidently, I saw Danni Minogue some years back in the stage show Notre dame. She could certainly hold a tune.
  12. All my basses and guitars are on the walls of my studio. Never had a problem. Just make sure they're secure enough.
  13. Sorry to be a pedant, but you spelled "misery" incorrectly😂
  14. To be honest, yes, now that I got through that one. As he'd (and many on here also) pointed out, at this type of gig, the audience are not at all interested. We were just a hum in the background whilst they were knocking back champaign that someone else had paid for😂
  15. The update. Just got back from the "mime" gig. I had previously said, "what could possibly go wrong?" Four days ago, I think I broke my left little finger. Still bloody painful. So, I took a back up normal fretless. Got to the sax player's house, to find he'd now taken the bass off of the tracks, suggesting that I can now "play along" with the numbers!! Great, a random 15 numbers from a list of 30 numbers I didn't know. Fabulous venue and food, corporate gig for 70 high-flyers. I get told that I can share the guitarist's real book charts. Fab, a busted finger, an upright bass I've had for 5 weeks and songs I don't know and now, have to take my eyes off the fingerboard😂 Lasted five numbers on the upright and changed to normal fretless. Less painful and at least I knew where the notes were. Got through it, but stressful, got paid and the unexpected key changes in a couple of numbers were a bit of a car crash. All experience though I guess.
  16. That was the best performance at Woodstock AND, they were (according to Carlos) all as high as kites😂 Michael Shrieve was only about 16 or 17 at the time I seem to remember.
  17. Sorry about this but calling all you headphone experts Need to identify the phones in this youtube clip. Can't find out anything, hoping one of you will recognise the make / model etc. Seems it's a Beyerdynamic DT100. Thanks
  18. My question is how did "bollocks" get past the mods?
  19. Just because someone may be 50+ doesn't mean they won't appreciate a new young band. Maybe, there aren't any worth seeing at present or, maybe there are, but none within sensible travelling distance to make it viable.
  20. Blimey, I used to do all their merchandise printing years ago. Saw them loads. (free passes) Never once disappointed with the show. Dave and Alan were the Merseybeats long ago. A great evenings entertainment.
  21. I play bass, guitar and drums so I'm three musicians.😂
  22. It would appear that there's even a choice. One supplier has 96???😂
  23. Can't comment on that as I'm not a teccy and as it's not my gig, probably not wise for me to call him lazy and to get his derrière into gear for half an evening😂
  24. Bit of a trek for you I'd imagine, Saumur, in France.😂
